    Obituary:
Jayne Ann Vandenberg, beloved wife of Merle Vandenberg, was born to eternal life on July 19, 2009, at Grand Horizons in Kimberly. She was born in Little Chute on April 6, 1927, the only daughter of John and Gertrude (Williamsen) VandenHeuvel. On May 9, 1953, she married Merle Vandenberg at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute.
Jayne was a devoted mother to Lynne Bishop (Bill Ficken), Spooner; Guy (Deb) Vandenberg, Lino Lakes, MN; and Joy (Steve) Wind, Sleepy Hollow, IL; and she was loved deeply by her grandchildren Aiden and Blake Bishop, Kyle and Gavin Vandenberg, and Kaley and Casey Wind, as well as all her grand-dogs. Jayne and Merle have lived in the same house on Jefferson Place in Kimberly for 52 years. They were members of Holy Name Parish in Kimberly for many years, and more recently rejoined St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church where Jayne participated in the mission club.
In her younger days, Jayne enjoyed playing the piano accordion. For many years, she was employed as an executive secretary at Miller Electric in Appleton. In her spare time, she enjoyed several hobbies including ceramics, crocheting, needlepoint and stained glass. She also brought joy and comfort to many ailing friends by regularly sending them greeting cards. Her "Club" - a group of lifelong friends who enjoyed each others' company regularly throughout the years - was an important part of her life.
In their retirement years Jayne and Merle purchased a cabin on Spooner Lake in NW Wisconsin, where they made many fond memories for several summers with their children, grandchildren and new friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three of her brothers: Noel (Ellen Hammen), Little Chute; Gus (Nancy Holmes), Philadelphia; and Roger (Carole), Kaukauna; and by Merle's eight sisters and seven brothers. A granddaughter, Sarah Vandenberg, also preceded her in death.
In addition to her family, Jayne is survived by three brothers: Harold (Marian) of Wauwatosa; Roman (special friend Nancy Miller) of Madison, and Ben (Priscilla) of Appleton; many wonderful nieces and nephews, wonderful neighbors of over 50 years, and many, many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute with Fr. Bert Ebben officiating. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of the mass.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the CNAs and Caregivers - the heroes - at Grand Horizons for their kindness and tender care. Their dedication, commitment and genuine devotion and compassion have made them close friends of the family.
