    Email 6/11/2005Hello, I appreciated your website. You helped me fill in some ga ps on my ancestry. In return I would like to give you some info. My na me is John Vander Loop. I currently live in California but spent the fir st 10 years of my life in Appleton, Wis. A name in your database is John G errits b. Sept. 17, 1897 & d. May 14, 1961. He is my namesake and matern al grandfather. His marriage to Grace Cummings was in 1926. My mother w as about 5 years old when Grace died. You have his second marriage to Lync h. This should be Winifred. I always considered her my Grandma. Winifred w as born June 18,1903 and sadly she passed away on May 2, 2001.She was born in New Richmond, Wis. and is buried in St. John Cemetary in L ittle Chute, Wis.My grandfather also changed his last name and added another "t" (Gerritts) .There is a middle school in Little Chute, Wis. named after him called J. R. Gerritts Middle School. The old school was closed a couple years ago a nd a brand new school replaced it.     Richard John Gerritts, 80, Minocqua, died Friday, March 28, 2008, surrounded by his family in the care of Friendly Village Nursing Home, Rhinelander. Richard was born Nov. 14, 1927, in Portage, Wis., the son of John R. and Grace (Cummings) Gerritts of Kimberly, Wis. He graduated from Kimberly High School and attended St. John's University and Milwaukee Business Institute. He also graduated from Toastmaster International and the Dale Carnegie Institute. Richard served with the United States Navy during World War II. Upon finishing his schooling, he was employed by Chain Belt Company for five years in production control before becoming an outside salesman for Shadbolt and Boyd Company covering Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for 34 years while living in Merrill, Wis. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Gladys, moved to Minocqua, Wis. While living in Merrill, Richard served as a voluntary Director of the Merrill Youth Center for a number of years and also as voluntary chairman of the Merrill Go Round Transit System. He also served on the Merrill School Board and was involved with the Boy Scouts in various capacities from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouts for 26 years. He was a WIAA football official and an assistant basketball coach for the Catholic grade school for a number of years.
    Richard is survived by his sister, Doris VanderLoop, Henderson, Nev.; one daughter, Robin (Emil) Nazzaro, Lake Ridge, Va.; two sons, Douglas (Kathy), Strum, Wis., and Reverend John, Rhinelander; four grandchildren, Michael Nazzaro, Lake Ridge, Va., Misty (Bob) Prestwood, Holmen, Wis., Anna and Lara Nysven, Strum; and one great-grandchild, Emili Prestwood, Holmen.
    Dick is preceded in death by his father and mother and his loving wife of 46 years.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2008, at 12 p.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, St. Joseph's site with Father John Gerritts officiating. Interment will be in Minocqua Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at the church on Monday morning.

    Doris Vander Loop passed away on May 18, 2012. She was born in Marinette, WI to John R. Gerritts and Grace (Cummings) Gerritts on September 19, 1931. Her mother died when she was three years old. Doris and her older brother Richard were raised by Winifred Gerritts, her beloved stepmother who gave her two little sisters. Doris graduated from Kimberly High School in 1949 and attended Saint Kate's College. Doris married Robert A. Vander Loop on November 27, 1952 at Holy Name Church in Kimberly. They were married for 54 years until Robert's death in 2007. Bob and Doris moved to Azusa, CA in 1960 and raised their children there. Doris was involved in all things that her kids were involved in - Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts, Little League. Doris loved being a mother. Bob and Doris moved to Henderson, NV to enjoy their Golden Years. Doris died in Henderson, NV one week after her son Robbie's death. Doris is survived by her sons John, David and Daniel Vander Loop and her daughters Judy Turnquist and Lisa Aker, her two sister Judy Canter and Mary Stusek, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her sons James and Robbie and her brother Richard. She was a loving caregiver to her son Robbie for many years. She will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed. Her service will be June 2, 2012 at 11:30 at Forest Lawn, 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, CA. 91724.
