    Commentary:
    Known as Betty. Served in the Women Marines, reaching the level of Sta ff Sergeant. Betty spent time at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, and al so in Portsmouth, VA. She enlisted to be part of the war effort. After r eturning home to Minnesota, she worked in Minneapolis for an advertising a gency where she was to meet her husband, Joseph (Bud) Almars. Marri ed in 1950, they bought a home in Edina in 195x where they lived until Bud 's death in 1997. Betty stayed in the family home until a few months befo re her death in 1998. Betty was active all her life at St. John's Luther an Church in Minneapolis where she was baptized, confirmed, married, a nd buried from. She served on a number of committees over the years, w as active in a women's circle, the Gleaners, and tirelessly delivered lili es and poinsettias to shut-ins after services on Easter and Christmas. Bet ty's ashes and her husband's rest at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.

    Bernette married Almars, Joseph Gordon 21 Jul 1950, Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota, USA. Joseph was born 13 Dec 1913; died 28 Jan 1997, Edina, Hennepin, Minnesota, USA; was cremated , Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. [Group Sheet]
