    See Image David G. GreenDavid G. Green, age 74, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on May 16, 20 02 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Oshko sh, on August 25, 1927 the son of the late Frank W. and Mary A. Hein Gree n. David attended St. Mary's Grade School, and graduated from Oshkosh Hi gh School in 1945. He served in The U.S. Navy from 1945-1946 and on Augu st 25, 1951 he married Mary L. Bard of Clintonville WI. He later attend ed The University of Wisconsin Madison where he received his B.S. in Mecha nical Engineering. David began his engineering career at The Wisconsin Ax le Co. working in manufacturing and sales. In 1959, David transferred to T he Triangle Manufacturing Co. where he was Chief Engineer and Plant Manage r. He later transferred to The Oshkosh Truck Corp. where he became their f irst plant manager and held a variety of management jobs in manufacturin g, sales, and product development. After his retirement in July of 1992, D avid acted as a consultant for The Oshkosh Truck Proposal Section.David was very active as a church and community leader. He was a life lo ng member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Most recently he served as Winneb ago County Supervisor and Chairman of The Chamber of Commerce SCORE (Servi ce Core of Retired Executives) Committee. He was also Past President of T he Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. David spent many years serving with T he Knights of Columbus as 4th Degree Area Coordinator, Trustee, and Faithf ul Navigator, and 3rd Degree district Club Building Chairman, Trustee, Adm iral, and Grand Knight. One of David's greatest passions was his involveme nt with the new Hooper Community Center in Oshkosh. David held the offic es of both President, and Chairman of the Board for the community center a nd served as chairman of the Building Committee since 1994. He was al so a member of the Noon Optimist Club holding the offices of, President, L t. Governor, and District New Building Chairman. David also enjoyed bei ng a member and volunteer for The Experimental Aircraft Association.He is survived by his wife of fifty one years Mary L. Green, Oshkosh, thr ee children; Gregory J. Green, Palm Desert CA, Richard C. Green, Palo Al to CA, Elizabeth M. Deger, Madison, one granddaughter; Meredith Green, thr ee brothers; Gerald R. (Mary Kay) Green, Elkton FL, Daniel V. Green, Oshko sh, Ronald J. (Eunice) Green, Sheboygan WI, and one brother-in-law; Jam es (Elaine) Bard, Lexington, KY, David is further survived by many niece s, nephews, other relatives, and friends.He was preceded in death by one sister; Margaret Dodd, two brothers; Thom as R. Green, and James F. Green.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday Morning May 2 0, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Koch a nd Sr. Judy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Fami ly and friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 9 a.m. unt il the hour of services.David Green was a caring and considerate man who gave tirelessly of himse lf to helping others and to serving the community he loved. He was a devot ed husband, father, and brother and through his good humor and generous na ture, he touched the lives of many.
