Joe J Schuster, WaKeeney, 91, died April 2, 1999, at the Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.
He was born Aug 16, 1907, in rural Ellis County to Frank and Anna (Pullman) Schuster. He married Theresia Aschenbrenner on June 10, 1930, in Ellis. She died April 2, 1986. He was a resident of Trego County since 1917. He was a farmer and stockman in rural Trego County for many years. He retired from farming and then moved to WaKeeney in 1968. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of WaKeeney, and the Knights of Columbus, Ellis.
Survivors include two sons, Alfred, Hays, and Ralph, Aurora, CO; two daughters, Dorothy Walker, Brownell, and Carol Eckhardt, Topeka; one brother, Jake, Ellis; one sister, Barbara Wilson, Salina; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchldren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Philips and Frank; and four sisters, Rosie Aschenbrenner, Anna Augustine, theresa Heinrich, and Clara Augustine.
Services were April 6 at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney, with Fathers Donald F Pfannenstiel and Joseph Scheetz co-officiating; burial in the church cemetery.
Schmitt Funeral Homes, WaKeeney, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Christ the King Catholic Church Cemetery Fund or to Masses.
