Capt. Jerome Siebers, Kaukauna, is presently serving in Vietnam as the officer in charge of the 30th weather squadron. This unit is unique and so much as it provides combat weather support including forecast, observation from the station and the information is forward to combat areas of the first division. He has been awarded an M.S. degree in meteorology from the University of Wisconsin. Capt. Siebers degree was conferred under rather unusual circumstances as he is currently assigned to a command weather unit in Vietnam.

    Obituary:
    Siebers, Jerome "Jerry"
Every now and then the Lord calls a great man to Heaven that makes you wonder if they needed a devoted, generous, loving and playful soul. This was the case with Jerome (Jerry) Orville Siebers who died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, from lung cancer.
Jerry was born to Joseph and Mary "Zita" (Creviere) Siebers July 2, 1931 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin.
He graduated from Kaukauna High School in June 1949 and graduated from Lawrence University in June 1954, with a Bachelor Degree in Music and a 2nd Lt USAF commission through the ROTC program.
Jerry felt honored to teach Band, Chorus & General Science at Wrightstown High School (1954/55). In 1955, he reported to Global Weather Central (SAC), Offutt AFB, Omaha, Nebraska.
Jerry was sent to Oklahoma A & M College, June 1956 to complete a USAF weather Officer Qualification, and then assigned to the European Weather Central (1st Division, SAC), High Wycombe, England, July 1957, where he served to the completion of his service commitment in July of 1960. After returning to the US continent, Jerry began teaching Band & Chorus in Shiocton, WI. In 1961, he was recalled to active duty to the Air Force & assigned to 8th Air Force Weather Center, Westover AFB in Massachusetts at which time he accepted a Regular Air Force Commission and assignment to graduate school.
After completing a Master's Degree in Satellite Meteorology in Aug 1964, at UW-Madison, he was assigned to Vietnam as Commander USAF Weather Detachment supporting the General Staff of 1st Army Division (The Big Red One). Jerry's entire unit were awarded The Bronze Star by the Commanding General, 1st Army.
Returning stateside, Jerry was stationed at USAF Environmental Technical Application Center, Air Weather Service. He was a very gifted teacher and traveled around the world briefing different countries about Satellite Meteorology.
Jerry retired from the Air Force in 1976 as Lt Colonel, having served 22 years of active duty.
Upon retirement, Jerry taught Applied Science and Math for a period of six years at Northeast WI Technical College in Green Bay.
In June of 1984, Jerry married his best friend Nancy Mary (Simon-Mooren) Siebers at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Parish, Green Bay, where they were members from 1984 -2003. Jerry was an active member of the choir to include choir director, parish council, funeral server and a Eucharistic minister. They moved to De Pere in 2003 and joined Resurrection Catholic Parish.
Music was Jerry's passion and he was overjoyed to become a member of the Dudley Birder Chorale at St. Norbert College singing from 1990-2006. Jerry performed twice at Carnegie Hall in New York City and several times at the Weidner PAC. He was Vice-President and a member of the Retired Officers Association of North East Wisconsin, MOAA (Military Officers Association of America) and was one of the founding members of the Howard Lions Club.
He had the opportunity to tutor children in the music program at Holy Family School 2001-2003. This past year Jerry tutored a few of the neighborhood children, a tremendous joy for him.
Jerry exemplified integrity and honesty which never wavered in any of his life situations. He devoted his life to living the Catholic faith and was not afraid to defend it. He was very spiritual, he and Jesus had a personal relationship.
Jerry loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and telling stories about his experiences, but he also enjoyed reading, intelligent conversations, water color painting, building furniture & model ships, playing cribbage and he was a gourmet cook.
