    Thiessen, Howard G.Howard G. Thiessen, Appleton, age 87, passed away at his home on Friday No vember 4, 2005. Howard was born March 7th, 1918, in Hilbert, Wis. son of t he late Edward and Maria Thiessen. On Nov. 15th, 1947, he married Hattie S chwalbach at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Darboy. They then resided in Bri llion for many years. Howard proudly served his country in the Army Air Co rps during World War II. He worked as Supervisor at Brillion Iron Works a nd Ariens Company. He was an avid sportsman, and especially loved to bo wl and golf. Howard was an active member of the Brillion Lions Club. Aft er retirement in 1980, he moved to Appleton. He spent much of his time wo od carving and doing stained glass work. Howard made many beautiful gla ss windows and ornaments as well as hand carving ducks and loons.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hattie, of Appleton. His daughte r, Judy and her special friend Mitsue Sparks, of Appleton. His brother, Pe rry Thiessen of Neenah; and a sister, Arvella (Jim) O'Connor, of Chippe wa Falls. Further survived by special friends Tesse Del Mundo and Ninfa Ac una, Chicago and an extended family of Nan Krizinesky, of Appleton.He was preceded in death by two sisters, Myra Bartels and Frances De Pe w, and one brother, Walter Thiessen.A Memorial Mass will be held 11a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8th, at St. Bernard C atholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St. Appleton, with the Rev. Dennis Ryan offic iating. Friends may call directly at the church Tuesday from 10 a.m. unt il the time of service. It was Howards wish that he be cremated and his re mains buried at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Brillion.In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospi ce - especially to Holly and Nathan - for the kindness, care, and conce rn shown to Howard during his illness.
