    Obituary:
    Roman N. Foegen 1604 Kenneth Ave., Kaukauna Age 80. died Tuesday morning after a short illness. He was born May 1, 1895 in Montana, Wisconsin. He moved to the Kaukauna area in 1915 and worked for Thilmany Pulp and Paper Mill for 35 years, retiring in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He was a member of the Thilmany Quarter Century Club; the Knights of Columbus; the Catholic Knights; and the American Legion Post No. 41, Kaukauna. He was a former member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude VanderHeiden Foegen; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Dougherty; two sons: Colonel George Foegen, Frankfurt, Germany; and Paul, Appleton; a brother. Henry, Kaukauna; a sister, Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth) Komp, Manawa; and 14 grandchildren. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Kaukauna with Father Donald Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Kaukauna. Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home, Kaukauna after 4 p.m. Wednesday. A Legion memorial service will be 7 Wednesday evening and a prayer service will be 8 Wednesday evening.     Mary Elizabeth Dougherty, 82, Kaukauna, Wis., Beloved grandmother, wife, mother and daughter, died on Friday, May 18, 2007, at St. Paul Home. Mary was born Nov. 1, 1924, to the late Roman and Gertrude (Vander Heiden) Foegen in Appleton. Mary grew up in Kaukauna and graduated from Kaukauna High School. She married Edwin Mose Dougherty on June 2, 1947, and they enjoyed 24 years of marriage until his death in 1971. Mary worked at Thilmany's during World War II and at Pechman Photography for many years. She cherished many long-lasting friendships, especially with the members of the Club which included Margie Koglin, Florence Brewster, Ethel Wulterkins and Jane Johnson. Mary was a faithful and devoted member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and was a member of the Homemakers Club for many years. She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee while visiting with friends. Mary loved to travel and was fortunate to live in three new houses, one which was built before the street was put in. She will be missed by all who knew her.
    She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Dougherty; and Kathleen (Jarl) Nilsson; two grandsons, Erik and Tom; her brother, Paul (Mary) Foegen; sister-in-law, Dorothy Foegen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Gene) Dougherty and many dear friends, nieces, nephews and family members.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin and her brother, George Foegen.
    Mary's Mass of Christian Burial will be 5 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2401 Main Avenue, Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends may call directly at church on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.
    The family would like to give a special thanks to Mary's caregivers at St. Paul Villa for the extraordinary care given to Mary.

    Paul A. Foegen, 73, Appleton, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, after a three-year battle with cancer. He was born in Appleton, on Oct. 12, 1936, the son of the late Roman and Gertrude Foegen. Paul grew up and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1954. He married the love of his life, Mary Kneip, in 1957. They made their home from then on in Appleton. Paul was employed by J.J. Plank Corporation for 39 years until his retirement in 1997.
    Paul was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. His passion was fishing, hunting and anything to do with being in nature. He was a craftsman who could build and fix anything. Paul's pride was building his dream log cabin in the northwoods and spending as much time as possible there stoking the wood fire.
    Paul is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary; his sons and their families, Ken (Kelly) Foegen, Appleton; Keith Foegen, Appleton; Patrick (Nancy) Foegen, Appleton; and four grandchildren, Paul, Lauren, Neil and Max.
    A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 E. Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr. Don Zuleger officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of Mass.
    Paul's family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at Affinity Hospice for all their care and support for Paul.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Paul's name.
