Obituary:
Maureen C. DeBroux, "Mo", 70, of Marshall and formerly of Battle Creek, passed Friday, November 29, 2013 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence following her courageous 7 year battle with lung cancer.
She was born April 3, 1943, the daughter of Frank "Bud" and Caryl (Severson) Mosel in Madison, Wisconsin.
Mo worked as a secretary in the business office at Lakeview School District for 23 years, retiring in 1998.
She is survived by her husband, Wilfred "Bill" DeBroux of Marshall; daughter, Mindy L. Meyers of Chicago; son, Jason M. (Heather) Meyers of Battle Creek; her mother, Caryl Mosel of Madison, Wisconsin; sister, Susan L. (Brenda) Mosel of Oregon, Wisconsin; brothers, Robert (Sharon) Mosel of Minden, Nevada, James F. (Bev) Mosel of Madison, Wisconsin, Allan J. Mosel of Madison, Wisconsin, David (Jeanne) Mosel of Lodi, Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; stepson, Russell J. DeBroux and sister, Patricia Gray.
Mo was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshall. Playing golf at Cedar Creek and Marywood golf courses, attending productions at the Barn Theater, traveling, playing cards, bunco, bowling, crossword puzzles and cultivating friendships were just a few of her enjoyments. Mo took special pleasure in the time spent at the family cottage in Wisconsin.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:30 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2013, at Shaw Funeral Home, 2838 Capital Avenue S.W. Battle Creek, MI followed by a 1:00 p.m. funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Vyverman officiating. Interment, Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial donations may go to a charity of one's choice .
The family would like to give special thanks to Oaklawn Oncology and to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.
The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home.
