    Obituary:
    The Rev. Michael Gonnering, 65, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church of Mishicot from 1926 to 1932, died early today in an Appleton hospital after an illness of several weeks. Since 1932 he had been Pastor at St. Mary's Church in Stockbridge. Services will be held at 9:30 a.ml Thursday at St Mary's in Stockbridge with burial in the cemetery at East Wrightstown, his birth place.
    Father Gonners was born May 16, 1875 at East Wrightstown, Brown county, eldest of 11 children. At 16 he entered Green Bay Business College and graduated inbusiness practice. After taking a course in Latin from his pastor, hetook a classical course at St. Lawrence College at Mt. Calvary Wis., and the entered the Benedictine College of St Merihard Indiana. In 1902 he went to Europe and finished his course if Philosophy and Theology at the University of Fr. Bourgh, Witzerland under the Dominican Fathers. There he was ordained to the priesthool in July 1905 and had an audiece with the Pope.
    After he returned to the United States, Father Gonnering was appointed Assistant at St. Johns church in Green Bay and also served as Assistant pastor at Antigo. His first pastorate was at Candon in 1906, where he organized a new congregation and built a new church. He also built cchurches in two of the seven missions which he served in that vicinity. In Sept 1911 he was named by Bishop Fox to pastorate at Black Creek an two mission at Navanion andSholocton. At Black Creek he also organized a parish of Polish, French, German and Bohemians and built a church. Following this he was named to take charge at Clintonville, where he remained for four years and was then transferred to Mishicot where he took charge of Holy Cross church. He observed his silver Jubilee in the summer of 1930.
    Survivors are four brothers and two sisters, Peter of Green Bay, John of Crygal Minn. and Val & William of East Wrightstown, two sisters; Mr. E. Gussert of Green Bay and Mrs. Albert Ethier of Argyle Minn.
    9-28- 1932 Mantiowoc Hearld Times: The Rev. Michael Gonnering, pastor at St. Mary's Catholic church at Stockbridge has returne from a two month tour of Europe. While in Rome he was present at three audiences given by Pope Piux XI. He was a passenger on the steamer, Europa" which made the trip from Bremen Germany to New York in four and a half says. Father Gonnering was formerly pastor at Holy Cross Mishicot.

    Gonnering, Raymond J.Raymond J. Gonnering, 97, of Greenleaf, died Friday afternoon, May 13, 200 5, at a local nursing home. The son of the late Valentine and Elizabeth (H ein) Gonnering was born February 2, 1908, in the Town of Wrightstown. On M ay 27, 1936, he married the former Ida Tilkens at St. Willebrord Cathol ic Church in Green Bay. She preceded him in death on April 2, 1988. Ray w as dairy farmer in Greenleaf his entire life. He was a Fifty Year member a nd past-president of the Catholic Knights and was a member of the St. Mary 's Holy Name Society.Survivors include four daughters, Jean Krause; Ruth Sinkler; Diane and Bar ry Harrington; and Mary and Tom Howatt; one son, Mike and Trudy Gonnerin g; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife; two grandsons, Peggy and Chris Sinkl er; and one son-in-law, Allen Sinkler.Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, fr om 4 to 8 p.m. today (Monday, May 16, 2005). Parish prayer service wi ll be held at 7 p.m. There will be no visitation on Tuesday. Mass of Chris tian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 200 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church , Greenleaf with the Rev. Bob Kabat, offi ciating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

    Born on Aug. 9, 1921, in Greenleaf, she was the fifth of 13 children born on the family farm to William and Celia (Kempen) Gonnering.
    Germaine married Gerhardt H. Greening on Jan. 17, 1942. Together, the couple owned and operated "The Cheese Mart." Gerhardt preceded her in death on April 22, 1998.
    Germaine was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church ever since moving to Green Bay in 1961. She held a deep belief in the Catholic faith. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of fishing, card-playing, bowling and spending time with family and friends at the cottage at Lake Hilbert. Germaine was a loving mother, grandmother and a wonderful friend.
    She is survived by one son, Richard Greening, Green Bay; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Dennis Hansen, Green Bay; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Debbie Greening, Green Bay; and Therese Greening, Luxemburg; son-in-law, James McConnell, Pennsylvania; brothers and sisters, Robert (Ceil O'Connell) Gonnering, Green Bay; Donald (Betty) Gonnering, Illinois; Marjorie Dollar, Green Bay; Irene (Eugene) Engstrom, Green Bay; Raymond Gonnering, Wrightstown; Rosemary (Joseph) DuBois, Florida; sisters-in-law, Delores Gonnering, Milwaukee; Margaret Erdman, Shawano; Geraldine (Donald) Wierschke, Wrightstown; Betty Greening, Appleton; brother-in-law, Lloyd Dachelet, Alaska Lake, Wis.; many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerhardt; two sons, Darrell and Kenneth Greening; one daughter, Patricia McConnell; one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Greening; one granddaughter, Carla Mary; brothers and sisters, Evelyn (Norbert) Vander Perren, Ralph (Elaine) Gonnering, Vincent (Helen) Gonnering, Ethel (Roland) Matzke, Marvin Gonnering; one infant sister, Marion Gonnering; brother-in-law, Chester Dollar; sister-in-law, Sylvia Gonnering; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
    Visitation at MALCORE (East) Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Parish Wake service 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Friday morning at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Funeral 11 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter and Paul Church with Rev. Harry G. Hafeman officiating.     Donald Nicholas Gonnering, 87, passed away on Dec. 12th, 2010, at Lexington Nursing Home in Lake Zurich, Ill. After a long battle with Alzheimer's, Donald died peacefully with his wife of 61 years, Betty Gonnering, by his side, along with their daughter, Kim Wooten, Donald's granddaughter, Jessica Censottii, and his great-granddaughter, Kaija Censotti. Donald formally resided in Appleton, Wis. for over 50 years.
    Donald was one of 13 children born to the late William and Cecelia Gonnering. Donald was born Dec. 6th, 1923, in Greenleaf, Wis.
    He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty J. Gonnering; two sons, Jeff and Michael Gonnering; daughter, Kim Wooten, seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Son Jeff and his former wife Judy Martell have three daughters, Charlotte, Rachel, and Rebecca and were preceded in death by their daughter, Margaret Mae Gonnering. Our beautiful Margaret Mae Gonnering was born July 25th, 1981, and had passed July 30th, 1982. Michael Gonnering and his Wife Ellie Pinchar Gonnering have two children, Ricia and Chelsea. Donald's daughter, Kim Wooten, has one child, Jessica Censotti, one great-grandchild, Kaija Censotti, and two step children, Christopher and Anthony Palya.
    Donald Gonnering"s siblings and their spouses, Evelyn and Norbert Van Perren, Ralph and Elaine Gonnering, Vince and Helen Gonnering, Ethel and Roland Matzke, Marvin and Delores Gonnering, Robert Gonnering and Ceil O'Connell, Germaine and Gary Greening, Marjorie and Chester Dollar, Irene and Eugene Engstrom, Raymond (Bud) and Sylvia Gonnering, Rosemary and Joseph DuBois, and Marion Gonnering (died in infancy)
    Donald was preceded in death by four sisters, Evelyn Van Perren, Ethyl Matzke, Germaine Greening and Marion Gonnering; and four brothers, Ralph, Vincent, Marvin and Raymond (Bud) Gonnering.
    Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, located at Saints Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church Located at 710 N. Baird St Green Bay, Wis. Visitation will be between 10 and 11 a.m. in the Father's Schuh Hall located in the lower level. Mass will begin at 11 a.m. After the mass the family cordially invites you to join them for Donald Gonnering's Celebration of Life located at Riverside Ballroom 1560 Main St. in Green Bay.
    Donald was the Head Grinder at Midtec Paper Mill formally known as Kimberly Clark for over 50 years. Donald also served in the military; he was the barber on a Medical Ship during the end of World War II. Donald was a devout Catholic and was active at his Church. Donald loved his family and friends.
    Music was Donald's true passion in life. He was a great musician! He loved to entertain his family and friends while playing his trumpet, harmonica and coronet. He loved polka and big band music. His favorite musician was Romy Goz. He learned to play the trumpet as a young child and had passionately played throughout his life. Donald's sister Marjorie recalls how great Donald played Taps as a child. He insisted on passing along the gift of music to all his children and grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making his family and friends laugh. He was a true entertainer. Donald was a good and decent man. Donald was a loyal husband and a wonderful Father. He was loved by all and will be missed.
    The family would like to thank Lexington Nursing Home's staff for the kindness and compassion shown to Donald and his family during this most difficult time. A special thanks to Chistopher Palya as well.

Darrell was born July 21, 1942, to Germaine (Gonneri ng) Greening and the late Gerhart Greening in Oshkosh, Wis. On Aug. 7, 199 3, he married the former Deborah McIntyre. He was an over-the-road truck d river for 35 years. He was most recently employed by Krueger Internation al until his time of sickness.
