    Obituary:
Henry Van Lankvelt, 92, Little Chute, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Colony Oaks Care Center. Henry was born Oct. 9, 1917, in the Town of Vandenbroek, eldest son of John and Hattie (Peerenboom) Van Lankvelt. He graduated from St. John High School in 1936. Henry married LaVerne Look on May 14, 1946, at St. John Church, Little Chute.
He was a strong capable meat cutter working from his return from service at Look's Meat Market and then Gordy's Food Fair until he retired at the age of 65. During World War II, Henry served with the 913th Signal Corps. He kept up with many friends from the service throughout the rest of his life.
Spare time brought out Henry's love of the outdoors, gardening, bird watching, wildflower tracking, cross-country skiing and hiking. He was active with Boy Scouts and liked nothing better than watching his sons at athletic games, both as players and managers. Henry enjoyed having card parties with family and friends. That's when his love of sweets and popcorn shone through. Henry was an active member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, as well as a member of the American Legion Jacob Coppus Post #258, Little Chute, for 60+ years.
Henry is survived by his wife of 63 years, LaVerne; four children, Rick Van Lankvelt, Mark Van Lankvelt, Carl (Carol) Van Lankvelt and Pauline Van Lankvelt. He was quite happy when with his grandchildren, Katie, Kristin, Jessica (Paul), Laura, Rachel (Ben), Cole and Ryan. He is further survived by great-grandchildren, Gavin, Cody, David and Lily; a brother, Peter; sisters, Frances, Dorothy, Angela and Margaret; sisters-in-law, Janet and Shirley Van Lankvelt, Joan Regli, Lea Dunn, Rosella Look; brothers-in-law, Casey Lamers, Rainer Depies, Leo Campbell, Thomas Look and Joe Look.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Philip and Bernard; brothers-in-law, Peter Van Nuland and Fred Regli; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Van Lankvelt; parents-in-law, John "Jack" and Gertrude Look; best friends, Joe Hietpas and Eugene Peeters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. David Funk O.F.M. Cap officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the Mass. Military honors will be performed by members of the American Legion Jacob Coppus Post #258 and the U.S. Army Air Corps following the Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Henry's family would like to thank the staffs at Colony Oaks Care Center and Heartland Hospice, as well as Dr. Jack Meyer, for their care and compassion.
