    Huisman, Richard G.Richard G. Huisman, Appleton, age 80, passed away at Appleton Medical Cent er on Sunday, December 5, 2004. He was born in Little Chute on May 24, 192 4, son of the late Nicholas and Ann (Kroes) Huisman. Rich was proud to ser ve in the Merchant Marine during World War II and served in the Pacifi c. On December 7, 1946, he married Vivian Schmidt at Mount Olive Luther an Church, Appleton. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage together. Rich serv ed as a City Alderman in Appleton in the sixties. Rich enjoyed spending ti me with Vivian, including square dancing. He also enjoyed sports, especial ly watching boxing and the Packers.Rich is survived by his wife, Vivian; his son, Richard H. (Clarice) Huism an of Townsend; grandchildren: Jeffrey Huisman of Appleton and Steven Huis man of Delavan; sisters: Pauline (Ken) Niesen of Kaukauna, Lory Maley of L ittle Chute and Melda (Richard) Johnson of Green Bay. He is further surviv ed by nieces and nephews.Rich was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Al, Nicholas a nd Clarence; five sisters: Marion, La Verne, Angie, Margaret and Theresa.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 200 4, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton, wi th Rev. Benjamin Berger officiating. Friends will be received at the funer al home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Apple ton Highland Memorial Park.The family extends a very special thank you to the Appleton V.A. for the ir special care.     Richard H. Huisman, 67, Townsend, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Unity Hospice in DePere, WI.
    Rick served the Wabeno School District as a teacher, principal for 12 years and the Superintendent of Schools for 13 years. In post-retirement, he spent a brief period as an interim director of CESA 8 and interim Superintendent of Schools of Suring Public Schools; as well as an additional year as interim Superintendent for the Wabeno School District.
    He was a Navy Veteran, Appleton City Counselman, member of the Wabeno American Legion and the Wabeno Lions. Rick was a caring and a loving, son, husband, father and grandfather, who will be sadly missed.
    He is survived by his mother, Vivian (Schmidt) Huisman, wife of 45 years, Clarice (Adams) Huisman and sons, Jeffrey (Kristi) Huisman and Steven (Jackie) Huisman. Rick was also the proud grandfather of Hunter, Wesley and Rebecca Huisman.
    Rick's memorial celebration will be at Madonna Hall (St. Ambrose Catholic Church) in Wabeno, WI at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014.
    The family asks that instead of flowers, please make a donation to Cancer Research in Rick's Memory.
