    Obituary:
Rose H. Vanden Hoogen, Little Chute, age 83 went peacefully to join her Savior in Heaven on Sunday July 5, 2015. She was born on October 7, 1931 to the late Leonard and Nellie (Verhoeven) Vanden Hoogen.
Rose Vanden Hoogen has taken her final and most important Journey, to be seated next to the Lord, after a brief but hard fought battle with cancer. Another great one taken by such an unforgiving, dreadful disease.
Fortunately for Rose, she will be guided throughout her entire passage to Heaven, by far more loved ones than one can count, standing hand in hand, heralding her on the path to Eternity. Those that will no doubt be the first to welcome her will be her father, Leonard, mother Nellie and brothers: Herman, Frank, Sylvester and Tony. Praying for her safe passage here on earth are sisters: Marie Schmoll, Fran Gitter, Lorraine Calnin and Leona Lancour.
To say that Rose was an amazing individual is truly an understatement.
In her Twenties, she ventured to California to pursue both acting as well as modeling. A beautiful young Lady indeed. After her return to Wisconsin, she remained busy working in the healthcare industry.
Always with a kind word and an ear to lend, she soon became a neighborhood favorite, and enjoyed sitting on the porch of her house, anxiously waiting for the neighbors to stroll by or peek their heads out from their homes, to have silly yet wonderfully heartfelt conversations. She was as good of a listener as she was a person to lend advice. The conversations frequently revolved around her perfectly manicured lawn she was so proud of, or talk of her beloved Green Bay Packers. She remained an avid sports fan to the end.
Her love of cooking was only outdone by her willingness to give the food away, to both family as well as friends. A pea-soup that could bring the strongest of persons to their knees and cookies that could make you cry.
Her adoration of animals was evident, as she had several dogs and cats throughout her years, all that quickly became family to her. If Rose wasn't preening over her pets, she most likely could be found at one of many fishing hot spots, showing the men how it's done, as fishing was one of her favorite pastimes.
Rose was an inspiration to many. Her support of the Sublime, with uncurbed enthusiasm, made her who she was and is why so many love her. We will all miss you terribly Rose, but the peaceful look shown upon your face when you passed, proved that the suffering was over. You were in control to the bitter end. Now it's time to complete your journey. We are all extremely lucky people to count on both hands the ones we love.
Rose is survived by 4 sisters: Marie Schmoll, Frances Gitter, Lorraine Calnin and Leona Lancour. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by brothers and sister-in-laws: Herman (Mary), Frank (Helen), Tony (Marge) and Sylvester Vanden Hoogen; brothers-in-law: Cyril Schmoll, Leo Gitter, Earl Calnin and Dick Lancour.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
The Vanden Hoogen family would like to thank Parkside Care Center for the excellent care and compassion they provided to Rose.
