    Obituary:
    Bernice Coenen, 90, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Heartwood Homes. She was born on September 11, 1919, in Darboy, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Luniak) Hartzheim. In November of 1942, Bernice married Arnold Coenen at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Darboy. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bernice belonged to the Lucky 7 Card Club and several ladies bowling teams over the years. She volunteered with the Brownies and Cub Scouts. Bernice enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing.
    She is survived by her children: Judy (Bob) Smith, Menasha; Gerald (Mary) Coenen, Greenville; Mary (special friend Dick Margo) Coenen, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Marlene (Steve) Jansen, Green Bay; eight grandchildren: Keith (Lori) Bedat-Smith, Nancy Smith and Steve (Marsha) Smith; Kim (Mark) Foate, Lisa Coenen, Katie (fiance Tim Krejcha) Coenen and Kristen (Jeff) Stohl; Matthew (Katie) Jansen; five great-grandchildren; brothers: Marvin Hartzheim, Kaukauna and Lester Hartzheim, Appleton, and her sister: Gertrude Raymaker, Combined Locks. Bernice is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Coenen; her son, Dennis Coenen, and many brothers and sisters.
    The funeral liturgy for Bernice will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton. Father David Kelly will be officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. The visitation will be held on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass.

    Dennis P. Coenen, age 56, of Neenah, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at his home. He was born January 10, 1950, in Appleton, son of Arnold and Bernice (Hartzheim) Coenen. He married Kathlyn Looman on June 24, 2006, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton. Dennis was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed at Pierce Manufacturing for 30 years.Dennis recently became a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton. He enjoyed woodworking, and he collected and repaired old clocks and radios. Dennis loved traveling out west with his wife, especially to Yellowstone Park.Survivors include his wife, Kathlyn; a daughter, Tammy Geurts; a son, Reid (special friend, Penny Christianson); three sisters: Judy (Bob) Smith, Mary (special friend, Dick Margo) Coenen, Marlene (Steve) Jansen; a brother, Jerry (fiancee, Mary Kessler) Coenen; three sisters-in-law: Sharon (Calvin) Westerof, Nancy (Al) Croff, and Marlene (Tosin) Abosede.He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Ida Looman. Dennis is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 15, 2006, at 4 p.m., at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2330 E. Calumet Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Roger McQuistion officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
