    Buchberger, Douglas J. Kaukauna Age 78, died Thursday, February 7, 2002 with his family by his side following a short illness. He was born January 30, 1924 in Kaukauna son of the late John and Elizabeth (Trottier) Buchberger. Douglas was a member of Cannon Company, 115th Infantry Regimen, 29th Infantry Division during World War II. He served the Army from 1943 to 1945 and reenlisted 1947 to 1948 for a total of four years. He entered as a first class private and later became a buck sergeant. He was a No. 1 cannoneer and set the range of the cannon on D-Day. Douglas received the World War II Victory Medal, the Army of Occupational Medal, the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Citation and the Victory Medal. He was employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper retiring as a Shift Supervisor in 1985 after 35 years and ten months of employment. Douglas was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 41 and Thilmany Quarter Century Club.
    Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Theresa (VandenHogen), Kaukauna their children: Joyce (Bob) Haen, Sue (Timm) Jansen, Kurt (Sheila) Buchberger, John (JoAnn) Buchberger, Jeff Buchberger (very special friend Eileen Presteen), Joe (Sarah) Buchberger, and Gary Buchberger ten grandchildren: Casey and Kelly Haen, Sarah and Marie Jansen, Aaron Buchberger, Jared and Alex Buchberger Tatem, Jalen and Savannah Buchberger. Douglas is further survived by three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Bernard (Florence) Buchberger, Vincent Buchberger, Dale (Sandy) Buchberger a sister and brother-in-law, Kay (Bob) Corbeille and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2002 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Kaukauna with Fr. David Schmidt officiating. Full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 41 will follow services. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. Friends may call directly at the church from 3:00 p.m. Monday until the time of services. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family with arrangements.
    The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Elizabeth Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

    Kimberly - John Buchberger, age 56 of Kimberly, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. John was born November 17, 1961 in Kaukauna, son of the late Douglas Buchberger and Theresa (Vanden Hogen) Buchberger who resides in Kaukauna. John was a graduate of Kaukauna High School and will always be remembered for his love of NASCAR, the Packers and Brewers, golf, and sports in general. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing tavern league softball, and more recently found happiness in a comfortable rocker watching movies. Above all, he treasured his sons, Jared and Alex - he thought the world of them.
    He is survived by his mother: Theresa Buchberger of Kaukauna; two sons: Jared Buchberger and Alex Buchberger (special friend Alexis Stuefen); six siblings: Joyce (Bob) Haen, Sue (Timm) Jansen, Kurt (Sheila) Buchberger, Jeff Buchberger (special friend Eileen Presteen), Joe (Sarah) Buchberger, and Gary Buchberger (special friend Jackie Hovey). He is also survived by his former wife, JoAnn Petras. His nieces and nephews are Casey (Geneva) Haen, Kelly (Kenny) Halloran, Sarah Jansen, Maria Jansen, Aaron Buchberger, Jalen Buchberger, Tatem Buchberger, and Savannah Buchberger. John was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Buchberger.
    The funeral liturgy for John will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, April 23, 2018 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, St. Mary's Church, located at 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna. Msgr. Jim Vanden Hogen will officiate, assisted by Deacon Steve Vande Hey, Pastoral Leader. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
