    Biography:
At one time, John Pekel had a tavern and hotel in Sherwood, Wisconsin where the new Post Office building was constructed in the 1980's. Later on, he had a tavern in Appleton. The Post Crescent newspaper once warned mothers to have their children walk home from school on the opposite side of the street to avoid fights that sometimes broke out in Pekel's Tavern.

In the mid 1900's the tavern/restuarant was called Blier's Tavern. The Bliers arranged bus trips to Packer football games for their Sunday brunch and dinner customers. (And a good time was had by all) Their son, Rocky Blier, played football at St. Xavier High School. He was wounded in Vietnam and rehabilitated himself to become a star player for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the 1980's, the tavern and restuarant was owned and operated as Trimbee's.
