Obituary:
Black Creek - Age 82, of Black Creek, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018. She was born on March 31, 1936, to John and Agnes (Hooyman) Vanden Heuvel. On December 27, 1958, Marlene married Karl Sachs at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. She was a loving homemaker, who cared for her family with much love. Marlene was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stephensville, and the Darting Needles Quilt Guild. Marlene enjoyed quilting, reading, studying her Catholic faith and spending time with her family and friends. Her family meant the world to her. Marlene and Karl enjoyed many years of traveling on their motorcycle together.
Marlene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Karl Sachs, of whom she enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Marlene is survived by her children David (Joan) Sachs (Seymour) and Sue (Paul) Roth (Baraboo); grandchildren: Karl (special friend Kayla Steckling) Sachs (Green Bay) and Derek (special friend Morgan Miller) Sachs (Madison); Sarah (special friend Mike Utterbach) Roth (Baraboo); great grandchildren Cooper, Gust and Otto Sachs; siblings: Evelyn (Eugene) Sousek (Appleton), Sister Estelle Vanden Heuvel (Manitowoc), Roy (Theresa) Vanden Heuvel (Darboy), Anne Hibbard (Oshkosh) and Sister Maria of Jesus Vanden Heuvel (Iron Mountain, MI). He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents: Agnes and John Vanden Heuvel; brothers-in-law: Joe Bongers and Ron Hibbard.
The funeral liturgy for Marlene will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, N3686 State Hwy 76 in Stephensville. Fr. Richard Allen will be officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 AM until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church are appreciated.
