    Obituary:
Earl Daniel Etten, August 16, 1916 - October 10, 2013. Earl delighted in making things work. Born on a farm in Greenleaf Wisconsin, he grew up in the Fox River Valley where he learned the skills that benefited his family, his friends, and his neighbors for nearly a century. Earl served in WWII after which he moved to Milwaukee, to find an outlet for his talents. There he met and married Betty "Sal" Lundin, a native of Gladstone MI. Together Sal and Earl raised 5 children, Daniel Etten, Thomas Etten, Kathleen Kelk, Jan Green, and Mark Etten. Earl has seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and more on the way. Earl was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Mathilda (Van Lanen) Etten, as well as his siblings, Marvin Etten, Delores Murphy, Grace Diehl, and his twin Pearl Rosera. A gifted and creative mechanic, Earl spent a long career working for Milwaukee's Blatz/Pabst Breweries. On evenings and weekends he supplemented the family income by doing free-lance repair jobs. Earl could fix almost anything mechanical. If he had a motto it might be "Don't replace it if you can fix it. Almost anything can be fixed." After losing Sal in 2005, Earl lived for six years in De Pere, WI. in the home of his daughter, Jan Green. He moved to Artisan Assisted Living in 2012. A life-long Catholic, Earl remained firm in his faith and derived a great deal of comfort and satisfaction from it.
Friends may call at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan Street, De Pere after 9am Tuesday October 15, 2013. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am with Fr. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial with full military rites will take place at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Wrightstown at 8:30am Wednesday morning. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family.
The family would like to thank Artisan, Dr. Todd Reynolds, and Unity for the attentive, compassionate care Earl received.
