    Schnese, Kenneth A ., Sr.Kenneth A. Schnese Sr. , Appleton, formerly of Kimberly, age 87, died at F ranciscan Care and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, April 8, 2006. He w as born in Appleton on May 10, 1918, son of the late Arthur and Anna (V an Dinter) Schnese. He was a native of Kimberly and graduated from Kimber ly High School. On May 10, 1941, he married his wife of 46 years, Alvi na H. Bretthauer, who preceded him in death on April 26, 1988.Ken served as a member of the United States Army, 101st Airborne. He was i nvolved in the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He receiv ed the Purple Heart in Holland and various other medals. Ken served as a m ember of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled Americ an Veterans and the Catholic Order of Foresters. His interests included pl aying cards, bowling, the Packers, the Cubs, and being an avid golfer; ev en scoring a "hole in one," witnessed by Monsignor Carl Steiner.Ken is survived by his children: Kenneth (Betty) Schnese, Jr. of Darboy; S ue (Gary) Wankey of Little Chute; Sandra (Al) Paltzer of Mackville; Curt ( Doris) Schnese of Menasha; and Michelle (Kevin) Dolan of Kaukauna; grandch ildren, Tina and Scott; great-granddaughter, Emma; step-grandchildren: Ki m, Shari, Jodi, Tom, Tina, Deanna, Lester and Justin; step-great-grandchil dren: Stephanie, Nicole, Courtney, Trevor, Sasha, Kassandra, Caitlin, Cor ey and Sean; sister, Priscilla (John) Vosters of Kimberly; brothers, Ca rl Schnese of Black River Falls; and Larry Schnese of Kaukauna; sisters-in -law, Jackie Bretthauer and Esther Schnese; brother-in-law, Don and (Eunic e) Bretthauer; and many nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his wife, Alvina; daughter, Mary Jean, his pare nts; and two brothers: Flavian in World War II and Marv 1998.The funeral liturgy will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at HO LY SPIRIT PARISH, Kimberly Campus, 600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, wi th Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral ho me on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the vigil service at 8 p.m. and at the chu rch on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.     Appleton - Sandra Rose Paltzer, 67, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at home. Sandy was born on October 29, 1950 to Kenneth Sr and Alvina (Bretthauer) Schnese in Appleton. On April 4, 1981 she was united in marriage to Alfred Paltzer. Sandy worked at Tuttle Press then in retail at Hebergers and Good'n Natural. She found her passion working at the YMCA as a reflexologist and Jin Shin Jyutsu (the art of gentle touch) practitioner. Sandy enjoyed cooking, and the holistic lifestyle. She also liked motorcycle touring with Al, playing cards with friends, reading and writing poetry. Sandy was a member of St. Thomas More and sang in the church choir.
    Sandy is survived by her husband AL, stepson Tom (special friend Lillian) Paltzer, step daughter Tina (Kevin) Flaherty, grandchildren; Caitlin, Corey, and Sean Flaherty, siblings; Ken (special friend Nancy) Schnese, Sue Wankey, Curt (Bonnie) Schnese, Michelle (Kevin) Dolan, uncles; Carl and Larry Schnese, nieces and nephews; Tina (John), Scott (Amy), Lester, Deanna, Kim, Shari, Jodi, Brittany, Justin, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mary Jean, sisters-in-law; Betty Schnese, and Doris Schnese, and a brother-in-law Gary Wankey.
    The funeral liturgy for Sandy will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 N. McDonald St. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Wichmann Funeral Home and at church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. The family would like to express their thanks to Theda Care Appleton and Theda Care at Home Hospice for their help with Sandy's battle with pancreatic cancer.
