Obituary:
JOSEPH BALTHAZOR Joseph Balthazor, 83, an early pioneer of Outagamie-co. died Friday morning at the home of his son, Eugene Balthazor, in the town of Maple Creek from a stroke of paralysis which he suffered a week ago. He was born in Canada and located at Fond du Luc where he was married in 1820 to Miss Margarett Guyette. After living in Fond du Lac for several years he came to Outagamie- co., where he purchased a farm in Maple Creek, and where he made his homo until his death. His wife died in 1920. During his residence In Maple Creek he held several town offlces and was director of St. Mary church in the village of Bear Creek. Six children survive. They are. Joseph. Jr.. New London: John. Two Rivers,: Eugene. Maple Creek: Mrs. Eleanor Bricco. Bear Creek; Mrs. Helen Besette and Louis Balthazor. Wittenberg. Mr. Balthazor also is survived by 52 grandchildren, 63 great-grandclmdren. and 4 greatgreat grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Monday Morning from the residence, and at 10 o'clock from St. Mary church at Bear Creek. The Rev. C. Rlpp will have charge.

Age 71, passed away at his home Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. after a short illness. He was born Dec. 1, 1892 in Deer Crrek and lived in this area all of his life. Mr. Balthazor is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Harold Pelky, and one son, Francis, both of Bear Creek; three sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Stilen, Shiocton, Mrs. Henry Jarvis Sr., Bear Creek, Mrs. Henry Young, Hortonville; 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Church, Bear Creek with Rev. Leo Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Balthazor Home after 10 a.m. Sunday, where the rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m.

Joseph Balthazor . Joseph Balthazor, 67, Fond du Lac, died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after a 6-month illness. He was born in the town of Maple Creek April 10, 1893,' and worked for Tews Implement company, New London, before moving to Fond du Lac. New London, Wis. - Funeral services for Palma Balthazor, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Balthazor, Maple Creek, will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Catholic Church at Bear Creek. Rev. M. Alt will officiate. His death Saturday morning at Community hospital followed a fatal dive into the Embarrass river Wednesday afternoon. In diving he cut his head and broke his neck. He was born March 17, 1921, the son of the late Louis and Mathilda (Bricko) Balthazor. He was united in marriage to Josephine Mentzel on June 17, 1939, in Eland. She preceded him in death on August 3, 1997. Orville retired from the Bonduel School District where he was employed as a maintenance engineer and bus driver. He enjoyed fishing, baking and time spent with his family. An enemy 82mm mortar exploded next to him, killing him instantly. RITES MONDAY FOR BEAR CREEK YOUTH WHO DIED IN ACTION
New London, Wis (Special) - Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Monday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek for Pfc. Durrell M. Balthazor, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Balthazor, Bear Creek, who was killed in action in Korea Nov. 2. The Rev. H.A. Littel will be in charge. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
The remains have been returned to this country and will arrive in Bear Creek Friday night and will be taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Balthazor.
He was born May 3, 1931, in the Town of Deer Creek. He moved with his parents to Bear Creek at the age of five. He was graduated from the Bear Creek High School in 1950. Before entering service he was employed by the Welcome Shiocton Lumber Company, Bear Creek. He left for Japan last August and shortly after went into action in Korea.
Survivors include his parents, a sister, Rella, at home and a brother, Francis, Michigan.

She preceded him in death in 1998. Roger was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and fish. He worked for Fox Tractor in Appleton for over 25 years. He was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London.

Maurice Stilen, age 80, passed away Wednesday evening, March 25, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with emphysema. He was born October 15, 1928, son of the late Lawrence and Alvina (Balthazor) Stilen. On April 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joyce Roberts in Oshkosh.
Maurice was employed with Neenah Paper until his retirement. He was an Army Korean Conflict Veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and making maple syrup on his family farm.

Robert Bessette, 79, Appleton, passed away peacefully on Feb. 19, 2010, at Cherry Meadows Hospice. He was born on Nov. 14, 1930, in Appleton. Bob graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School and St. Mary's Catholic High School in Menasha. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 4 years as a Ranger. He was a Sergeant in the Co "K" 16th INF Regt. Rangers 1st Division. After returning from service he received his Business Degree at the Technical College. On January 30, 1954, he married Betty Ann Diedrich. Bob retired in December of 1992 after 32 years with We Energies. He was a member of the DAV. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.
He always looked forward to summer when it was time to pack up the boat and head to Roberts Lake with his wife and sister-in-law Sharon. Bob could stay on the lake for hours fishing. After his laryngectomy eleven years ago he had to give up golf and fishing, but he enjoyed going to Oneida with his wife's other sister Mary and niece Jean "Nursey."
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Bessette, Appleton; children: Stuart Bessette, Miamisburg, Ohio; Suzanne McDowell, Reno, Nevada and Bill Bessette of Madison; six grandchildren: Brian (Sasha), Bridgette and Amy Bessette; Michael (Stephie), Matthew and Brianne McDowell; great-grandson: London McDowell; brother: Milo VanOudenhoven, Appleton and his sister: Beverly (Ron) VanAcker, The Villages, Florida. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his mother Gen and stepfather Peter VanOudenhoven, his mother and father-in-law, Ken and Mable Diedrich and an infant twin grandson Christopher.
The memorial service for Robert will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME with Father Robert Karuhn officiating. Full military honors will be performed following the service. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob's honor may be directed to ThedaCare at Home Hospice or Cherry Meadows Hospice.

Daila H. Platte, age 90, of New London, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 with her family at her side. She was born May 5, 1927 in Elderon, WI, daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Bessett) Feavel and attended school in New London.
Daila married Clinton Platte and together they raised their 5 children. Daila was trained as a Physical Therapist and worked for many area medical facilities. She was a faithful member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London.
Daila was an avid trout fisherwoman and cross-country skier. She enjoyed her trips up to Lakewood and out to California to visit her sons. Daila and her son, Kevin participated in a skydive when she was 79 years old! Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Daila is survived by her 3 sons: Daniel Platte, Randall Platte and Kevin Platte (Maricruz); 6 grandchildren: Kim Kargus, Lisa Young, Keith Platte, Gretchen Platte, Kevin Platte II and Eva Platte and 8 great-grandchildren: Brandi Kargus, Matt Palmer, Aydin Clemens, Elliott Clemens, Nicole Young, Aleesa Young, Jake Palmer and Justin Palmer.

Obituary:
David Balthazor, 57, of Appleton, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, February 4, 2011. He was born on December 7, 1953 in Omro, the son of the late Jerome and Cora (Besaw) Balthazor. Dave worked at Rocket Sewer, Drain and Setic. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dave will now join his dog Freedom and they will be able to run free.
David is survived by his son: Shane Balthazor, Lewistown, Montana; brother: Michael (Emmy) Balthazor, Kaukauna; niece: Michelle (Chad) Krabbe, Little Chute; special friends: Gwenn and Jim Steele, Appleton and Jimmy Willes, Appleton, along with many other friends. He was preceded in death by a special friend, Angel.
Droopy requested no formal services. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Fox Valley Humane Society are appreciated.

New London - Age 30, New London, died on Friday, May 25, 2018, the result of a logging accident near Amherst (Portage County). Jonathon was born on July 15, 1987 in Neenah. He loved trapping, fishing, and being outdoors. Jonathon was a hard worker; working at Festival Foods, Steel King and Curwood for 10 years and currently owned his own company Stilen Logging. He was intelligent and thoughtful and we will miss his excellent sense of humor.
Jonathon is survived by his children, Hunter and Drake, Ogdensburg; mother Margie Stilen, New London; father Greg (Diane) Stilen, New London; fiancée Jenny Perry, her children; Celi and Ashton; sisters: Sara Mendoza (fiancé Luke Reinke), Iola, children: Alejandra, Kashton and Gregor; Judy Mayo (significant other, Smokey Slotnick), Cave Junction, OR; daughter Lily and Lydia Seehawer, MN; step-brother Scott, Birmingham AL; step-sister, Susan, Seattle, WA. He is further survived by uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother Greg, maternal grandparents, Alfred and Marjorie Mayo and paternal grandparents, Roger and Cordell Stilen.
Funeral services for Jonathon will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery, New London.

Gregory L. Stilen Jr., age 26, passed away as a result of a motorcycle accident, on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Greg was born February 7, 1989, Neenah, son of Greg Stilen and Margie Stilen. He worked at Walker-Forge in Clintonville for the past 3 years. Greg loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He especially loved his 2 labs, Red Man and Rosie.
Greg is survived by his father Greg (Diane) Stilen, New London; mother, Margie Stilen, New London; brother, Jonathon Stilen, Sugar Bush and three sisters, Sara Mendoza, Sugar Bush, Judy Mayo, Cave Junction, Oregon and Lydia Seehawer, New London and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roger and Cordell Stilen and maternal grandparents, Alfred and Marge Mayo.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Cline and Hanson Funeral Home, New London, Rev. Joyce Rich will be officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday, July 17, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. and also on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Most Precious Blood Cemetery, New London.
