Obituary:
Phyllis Marie (Jacobs) Alberts, age 81, New London, died after a 7 ½ year battle with cancer on Sunday, November 24, 2013, peacefully at home with her family. Phyllis was born on October 9, 1932, daughter of the late Earl and Corabelle (Peebles) Jacobs. She was united in marriage to Darwin Alberts on November 30, 1957; he preceded her in death in 2012.
Phyllis was employed by the Hamilton's Canning Factory, Walmer's Grocery and Simmons till her retirement at age 70. She enjoyed time on the Little Wolf with family, her granddaughters sporting events and antiques. Phyllis lived a life caring for family and others in need. She had a strong work ethic that she passed on to her grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by a son, Greg (Theresa); granddaughters, Brittany and Brianne; sister and brother in-law, Joyce (Robert) Hoerning and sister in-laws Shirley Alberts and Dolly (Ron) Knapstein. Nieces and nephews: Jeff (Gail), their children, Steven and Elizabeth; Connie (Mark), their children, Chas (Polly), Natalie, Charlie, Melissa (Yavuz), Aydin, Emre and Alara; Sarah (Jerry), their daughter, McKenna; Joe (Sandy), their children: Justin, his son Joey, Cristin (Chris), Nathan and Jordan; Kim and her son Joshua; Todd (Nina), their children, Lilly and Abigail; Craig (Cindy), their children: Cody, Caitlin and Callie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Darwin.
Funeral Mass for Phyllis will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. Arul Joseph Irudamoney officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. and also on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Bar-Lev, Dr. Swanson and their staffs and ThedaCare Hospice; especially Paula.
Phyllis lived a life of caring and hard work. We were truly blessed to have her in our life. She has left a mark on our hearts that will be there forever.
