    Janet L. Nelson, 75, De Pere, died Friday, May 9, 2008, following a long illness. A complete obituary will be placed in Monday's edition. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, 336-8702, is serving the Nelson family.

    Janet L. Nelson, 75, recently died after a long illness. Janet was born in Kaukauna, Wis., on Aug. 17, 1932, to Andrew and Della (Feller) O'Connell and married the late Robert C. Nelson in De Pere, at St. Francis Church on Sept. 5, 1953. Janet graduated from De Pere High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She was a member of PEO Chapter Av., the Green Bay Symphony Guild, Resurrection choir at St. Mary's and St. Francis Church in De Pere, Scholarships, Inc., Bridge Marathon and "The Club", a group of high school friends that have met since the 1940's. Because of her love of books, Janet belonged to a book discussion group and tried to promote good books to many organizations. Janet was employed at the Brown County Central Library, a place she dearly loved, until she retired in 1997. Janet had been a member of the following Boards, the Green Bay Symphony, the Green Bay Symphony Guild and the St. Francis Parish Council in De Pere.
    Janet is survived by two sons, Peter, New Berlin, Wis.; and Andrew, La Crescent, Minn.; two daughters, Amy, Frisco, Colo.; and Martha (Bruce) Richardson, Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Dennis (Delores) O'Connell, Mundelein, Ill.; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Andrew L. Nelson, Milwaukee, Wis.; and John Nelson, Mequon, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Jean Nelson, Oshkosh, Wis.; and many long-time friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Myra O'Connell and Noreen Jacobi; brother, Gerald O'Connell; two brothers-in-law, Philip Nelson and Leroy Jacobi; and one sister-in-law, Mary Sefton Nelson.
    Friends may call at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, from 10 to 11 a.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating and Father Andrew Nelson as concelebrant. Interment will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
    Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is handling arrangements. Online condolences to the family may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com .
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brown County Library or to Scholarships, Inc.
