    Cotter Sr., James W. James W. Cotter Sr. (Jim), 78, well-known De Pere businessman, passed aw ay peacefully Friday morning, Dec. 12, 2003, following a brief illness. J im was surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late James W. and T heodosia (Mc Clean) Cotter, was born April 10, 1925 in Cadott, Wis. Follow ing his service in World War II and the death of his parents, Jim mov ed to Green Bay, where he met his wife, Elaine Pfotenhauer. Jim and Elai ne were married Sept. 3, 1949, at St. Philip Catholic Church, Green Bay a nd recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. He served in World War II from 1943 to 1945 in the European Theater of Ope rations. Jim was employed at Milprint in De Pere while pursuing his educat ion to be a funeral director. He received his funeral directors licen se in 1959 and founded the Cotter Funeral Home in February 1962. He contin ued in the profession until the time of his death. Jim was very active in many community organizations, including the De Pe re Chamber of Commerce, De Pere Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fe llow, the De Pere Men's Club, Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association, F ox River Valley Funeral Directors Association, Greater Green Bay Area Fune ral Directors Association, De Pere VFW Post 2113, American Legion, the Thi rd Degree Knights of Columbus Abbot Pennings Council 3955, and St. Jude 's Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Jim was also an acti ve member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere where he w as a member of the Holy Name Society and an usher. Jim greatly enjoyed gol fing with his Thursday and Saturday morning golf groups at Hilly Haven. Survivors include his wife, Elaine, their children and their spouses, Jam es Jr. (Suzanne), Green Bay; Dan (Lori), De Pere; Mary Jo, Allouez; Jean ( Dennis) Van Hoof, Sheboygan; Mike (JoAnn), De Pere. Grandchildren are Mich ael, Katherine, Nicholas, Matthew, Eric, Alayna, Melissa, and Danie l. He is survived by one brother and two sisters-in-law, Lucian (Selma), W arren, Mich.; and Lorraine Cotter, Two Rivers; Elaine's family, one brothe r-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Donald (Nancy) Pfotenhauer, West Bend; a nd Joan Pfotenhauer, Green Bay; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Julia Armstrong and her husband, E ugene; brother, Edward Cotter; and brother-in-law Gerald Pfotenhauer. Friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, fr om 4 until 8 on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003. Knights of Columbus service at 6: 30 p.m. followed by Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. on Monday. Visitati on will continue Tuesday after 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Chur ch, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Tuesd ay at the church with the Rev. V. Anthony Dolski officiating. Interme nt at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in De Pere.
    In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Robert Wampler, and the cari ng staff at St. Vincent Hospital for all of their care and concern.

    Obituary:
    James W. Cotter, Jr., age 64, of Green Bay, earned eternal life on Friday, April 17, 2015. He was born on June 21, 1950 to James W. Sr. and Elaine (Pfotenhauer) Cotter. After graduating from Abbot Pennings High School in De Pere, James worked for Design Air (now U.S. Ventures) for over 40 years. In addition to being an avid golfer and bowler, he loved spending time with his granddaughter Lauren, who was his pride and joy, as well as his golf partner.
    Surviving James is his loving wife Suzanne, children: Melissa (Rick) Piumbroeck and Daniel, his mother Elaine, brothers and sisters: Dan (Karen), Mary Jo, Jean (Dennis) and Mike (JoAnn), as well as nephews and nieces: Michael, Nick, Matt, Katie, Eric and Alayna.
    He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Cotter, Sr.
    Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Avenue, De Pere, on Friday, April 24, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. On Saturday, a funeral mass will be held for James at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan Street, De Pere, beginning at 10:30am with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the mass.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
    The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Allouez Rescue Squad and St. Vincent Hospital for their compassionate efforts.
