    Obituary:
    Joan Marie Eggers, age 90 of Appleton, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 6, 2016. Joan was born in Appleton on July 7, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Ulrich) Langenberg. Joan was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Joseph Church in Appleton, and on October 7, 1947, she married Richard Eggers; he preceded her in death in 2004. Joan had a lovely voice and sang in the church choir for over twenty years. She also volunteered for various other tasks at St. Joseph. She loved children, and served the community as a school crossing guard for many years. She loved to visit with family and friends and reminisce about growing up in Appleton. Among her pastimes were knitting, playing bridge, and ice skating. Joan was a proud and persistent woman who was quite in charge of matters, yet was well cared for by her husband. Her children remember her has fun mother who made sure they had their share of camp-outs, picnics, and family outings to the "40" in Wautoma. She was also talented in the kitchen, and was known for her special venison stew and festive New Year's Eve gatherings.
    Joan is survived by six loving children: Lyn (James) Richter of Appleton; Lee (Harold) Petta of Appleton; Richard (Jeanette) Eggers of New London; Anthony (Michele) Eggers of Shiocton; James (Sarah) Eggers of Appleton; and John (Teresa Moran) Eggers of Appleton. There are also thirteen grandchildren: James (Lesli) Richter, II, Dana Richter, Erin (John) Krueger, Devon (John) Little, Benjamin (Shannon) Eggers, Wendy (Bill) Moll, Jeff Welch, Lucas Eggers, Mitchell Eggers, Elyse Eggers, Ian Eggers, Aleanna Eggers, and Meghan Eggers; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister: Marie Vandenberg of Freedom. Joan is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, brothers John and Joseph Langenberg, and a granddaughter, Angela Eggers.
    The funeral liturgy for Joan will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary, OFM Cap. officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the liturgy.
    The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the many special caregivers that watched over Joan. They include Dr. Travis Kroner and his staff, everyone at Heartwood Homes, and the nurses from ThedaCare At Home. We will forever remember your kindness to our family.

    Born Marie Loretta Langenberg at the family home in Appleton WI. on May 6th 1928. Daughter of Marie B. (Ulrich) & Joseph B. Langenberg.
    She traveled through Europe and especially enjoyed Switzerland and Germany.
    After attending school in Appleton, she graduated from Lawrence University & continued on at University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. She went on to practice Architecture in the Appleton, Neenah, Oshkosh & Ann Arbor, MI. On July 15th, 1964 she married Robert C. Vandenberg at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Menasha WI.
    Survivors include son Kurt (Ellen) Vandenberg (Margot & Gwyneth), son Tom (Renee) Vandenberg, daughter Greta (Ron) DuVernay (Christopher, Julianna & Daniel). Sister in law Marcella VanDeWalle, nieces and nephews and many friends she thought of as family.
    Predeceased by her husband Robert Vandenberg, Brothers Joseph & Irene (Mader) & John Ellen (Monaghan) Langenberg, Sister Joan Eggers (Richard B.), Godfather Simon Resch, Brothers in law, Norbert VanDeWalle, Servanius & Jane (Ambrosius) Vandenberg.
    Also, previously deceased by her father's sister Mary K. Langenberg & her mother's three brothers, Carl, Joseph (Germaine) and Alfred (Loretta) Ulrich.
    Earlier in her life she learned and loved the game of Tennis.
    Later, she enjoyed playing bridge, being involved in the Town of Kaukauna Historical Society. She also enjoyed her obsession of yarn, after learning to knit at the age of 7 from Louise Grignon.
    Above all she cherished her 5 grandchildren dearly.
    In lieu of flowers, a donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters is appreciated.
    The visitation will be held Friday May 5th from 6-8pm and Saturday May 6th from 10-11:30 with a service to follow at Wichmann Funeral home 537 North Superior Street Appleton WI 54911.
