    Obituary:
Georgia B. Yahr, of Appleton, died peacefully after a short illness Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at ManorCare in Appleton, surrounded by her family. Georgia was born on December 3, 1909 in French Lick, IN to the late Everett and Naomi (Graves) Leonard. She graduated Bedford Indiana High School in 1929 where she was the most popular dance partner. Georgia moved to Wisconsin in 1933. She was employed as a stenographer at Kimberly Clark for over 35 years. After she retired, she completed a CNA program at Fox Valley Technical College in 1972 and worked as an in-home care giver for numerous families. Georgia also worked part time at Prange Way, Quaker Dairy and at voting polls for many years. She was a volunteer at Appleton Medical Center, and also with the Meals on Wheels program. Georgia was a popular visitor to area nursing homes where she entertained the residents with her "lively" dance routine. She was a consummate recycler and environmentalist. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Georgia joined the First United Methodist Church in 1936 where she remained a member the rest of her life. Georgia's positive attitude throughout her life brought her to her motto of "I just keep going!" She will be sadly missed by her daughters: Naomi (Dave) Percival, Neenah; and Laura (Edward) Yahr-Kassel, Menasha; and her son, Claude "Ritchie" (Anita) Beavers, Lansing, MI. She is survived by ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Charles Beavers and Wilbur Yahr, sons Charles and Clyde Beavers, sisters: Marie Lemons, Genevieve Ciske, and Isabelle Paulowski and brother Clyde Leonard. A Funeral Service for Georgia will take place at 11a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, at First United Methodist Church, 325 E. Franklin St., Appleton, with the Rev. David Brice officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow. Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel, and at the church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established for the St. Joseph Food Pantry. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at ManorCare, her Physician Dr. Robert Fox, and Barbie from Heartland Hospice for the loving care given to Georgia.
