Obituary:
James W. (Jim) Jansen, Little Chute, age 88, passed away Monday, September 3, 2007, at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah. Jim was born February 18, 1919, to the late Henry and Ariella Jansen in Little Chute. After serving as a medical technician in the South Pacific during World War II, he came back to Little Chute where he met and married his wife, Patricia Driessen. Pat and Jim recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. Jim worked at Combined Locks Paper Mill for 32 years as a machinist and spent his retirement golfing, bowling, and cheering for the Brewers and Packers.
He was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church and a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, Little Chute.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pat; his four children: Sandy (Jay) Van Thiel, Townsend, WI; Wayne (Karen) Jansen, De Pere, WI; Cheryl (Tom) McCarthy, Appleton, WI; and Bev (Jerry) Romenesko, Kimberly, WI; as well as his nine grandchildren: Nikki and Jason Van Thiel and his girlfriend Beth Wilson; Shayne and Brent Jansen; Dani (Charlie) Hietpas; Tannor Williams; Eric, Scott and Tami Romenesko and Eric's girlfriend Kim Wiedenhaupt; his three great-grandchildren: Lily and Cole Hietpas; Gabriella Williams; and brothers- and sisters-in-law: Robert and Regina Driessen and Kenneth and Joan Driessen.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Harold "Hipe" and his wife Bernadette Jansen; his sister, Dorothy and her husband Melbourne Frank; his father- and mother-in-law, Joseph and Katherine Driessen; his brother-in-law and wife, Fred and Marian Driessen; his sister-in-law and husband, Dorothy and Vincent Godschalx; and sister-in-law and husband, Barbara and David Hartmann.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 7th, at 3 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 5:30 p.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute.) The Rev. David J. Funk, OFM Cap. will officiate. Military rites performed by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will immediately follow.
The Jansen family would like to thank Dr. Price, the nursing staff at Theda Clark, and Theda Clark Hospice for their care and support.
