    Irene M. Van Asten, 94, of Little Chute, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born March 1, 1920, in Boyd, WI, daughter of the late George and Rose (Klauson) Hermsen. Irene married Maurice Van Asten on May 22, 1944, at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna.
    In her younger days, she worked at Zwickers Knitting Mill in Appleton. She was active in the St. Elizabeth Society at St. John's in Little Chute for many years. Her greatest joy came from being a mother and homemaker. Irene enjoyed bowling and was very proud of the trophies that she was awarded. She also enjoyed playing cards and trips to the local casino. Her Holiday dinners were always a special treat for the entire family.
    Irene is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Larry) Krueger, Crandon; son-in-law, Charles Pingel, Little Chute; three grandchildren: Tim (Nikki), Brad (Lisa) and Sari; seven great grandchildren: Aaron, Laura, Aidan, Charli, Mason, Abby and Sara; a sister, Evelyn Labine; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
    Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; a daughter, Carol Pingel; her parents, George and Rose Hermsen; a sister, Harriet (Charles) Van Rossum; a brother, Martin (Ester) Hermsen; two infant brothers: Johnny and Richard; brother-in-law, Leroy Labine; in-laws: Urban (Barbara) Van Asten, Elmer (Bernetta) Huss, Ambrose (Tillie) Wiegman, Melvin (Lexie) Van Asten and Cyrus (Jean) Van Asten.
    Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine St., Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.     Anthony G. "Sonny" Linskens, Little Chute, age 80, went to heaven on January 30, 2013 after a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. Sonny was born on May 5, 1932 in Kaukauna the oldest of five children to Antone and Irma (Wiedenhaupt) Linskens. He married his sweetheart and best friend, Lois Borchardt on October 20, 1956 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Sonny was an inventory clerk at Thilmany Pulp and Paper for nearly 45 years, never having taken a sick day. He never retired from his job as a beekeeper, working for the family business Linskens Honey Farms until this past fall with his brother Eugene. Sonny enjoyed watching Packer games with his son-in-law Jeff, especially after a big breakfast at Frank's. He was proud of his family, instilling in them the values of good work ethic and education. Sonny was proud to attend his daughter Christie's activities, from half marathons to graduation from law school and graduate school. Sonny kidded he was "one in a million" but to his family and friends, he was just that. There was nothing he would not do for his family and friends. He was the "best Dad ever."
    Sonny is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Lois (Borchardt) Linskens; his daughter Christie (Jeff) Christie, Hartford; his pet friend Suzie; brothers: Eugene (Laverne) and David Linskens; and sisters-in-law: Mary Jane Gruentzel and Audrey Linskens. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, especially his hunting buddies nephew Gene Linskens and grandnephews Augie, Travis and Jason Linskens.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law Emil and Ceil Borchardt; brother Donald Linskens; sister Joyce Kelling; brothers-in-law Earl Kelling and Charles Gruentzel; and sister-in-law Betty Linskens.
    Visitation will be held Monday February 4, 2013 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 4:00 p.m. The Rev.     Kaukauna - Eugene J. Linskens, age 85, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton with his family by his side. Eugene was born on June 14, 1933 in Kaukauna the second oldest of five children to Antone and Irma (Wiedenhaupt) Linskens. Eugene married LaVerne Brown in Orlando, MS on March 8, 1953. They shared 64 happy years together until LaVerne passed away on October 1, 2017. Eugene was a proud Marine after serving his country in Korea and he wore his Marine Corp tattoos as a badge of honor throughout his life.
    Eugene worked for Consolidated Papers in Appleton for 33 years but his passion was beekeeping. He spent decades working alongside his beloved father and brothers tending the bees and continued that work into his 80's when a bad knee forced him to retire. The Linskens Honey Farm 100-year legacy continues to this day through his son Eugene Jr. and three grandsons. Eugene enjoyed deer hunting, trout fishing, gardening, a good whiskey old fashion, Friday night fish and telling stories by the fire at deer camp. His passing will leave a void we will never fill at the Linskens deer cabin in Pembine.
    Eugene is survived by children: Eugene Jr. (Debbie) of De Pere; Brian (Ellen) of Green Bay; Brad (Beth) of San Ramon, CA; and Dawn of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren: Courtney (Dan) Reese, Justin Linskens, Nicole (Thomas) Welke, Michael Linskens, Eric Linskens, Jenni (Nick) Fuss, Christopher (Stacey) Linskens, Jason Linskens, Travis (Jessica) Linskens, Shelly (Billy) Walkup, Chrissy (Kyle) Lanier and Tyler Elliot; 12 great grandchildren; brother David Linskens; and sister-in-law Lois Linskens. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his wife and parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law: Gail and Robert Elliott; father and mother-in-law: William and Minnie Brown; brothers Donald and Anthony "Sonny" Linskens; sister Joyce Kelling; brother-in-law Earl Kelling; sisters-in-law Betty Linskens and Audrey Linskens; and grandson Ryan Linskens.

    David "Dave" Kirby Hermsen (a.k.a Hermie), age 77, of Combined Locks, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dave was born on May 29, 1940 to the late Martin and Esther (Spice) Hermsen in Appleton. Dave graduated from St. Norbert's High School in 1958. He then attended college at St. Norbert College in De Pere. Dave married his current wife, Barbara J. Derks (Rader) on March 27, 1999, and have been married for the past 18 years. He married his first wife, Rosie M. Maas in August of 1961 in Kimberly. They were married for 30 years and had three wonderful children, Douglas, Michelle and Denise "Deedi". Dave was employed with CB Supply, Perkins, JC Penney's, Valley School Supply, and owned his own business DR Systems, where he enjoyed building and repairing computers, all the while following his passion as a full-time musician.
    Dave was a professional musician for 58 years, and spent time in Nashville where he played with members of Johnny Cash's band, opened for Jerry Lee Lewis and many other of his Rock-n-Roll heroes. Dave also played at the Kentucky Derby and in Las Vegas at the annual Rock-a-Billy Festival. Dave loved music and pursued it by being a member of several of his own bands such as Flaming Coals, Big Daddy and the Digs, The Fourth of Never, Resurrection and Dave and the Bad Cats (a Rock-a-Billy band). After he left performing full time with his own bands, Dave could be found sitting in and playing songs in his son Doug's band, Zeb Salvage, a classic rock band.
    In his earlier years, Dave liked to hunt (both duck and deer) and fish. Dave was an avid NASCAR fan, loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles and the Green Bay Packers. Dave and Barb spent many sunny summer afternoons taking road trips either in Barb's convertible or on Dave's Harley.
    Dave is survived by his wife, Barb; his first wife, Rosie Thompson; his son, Douglas (Joan) Hermsen; his daughters, Michelle (Dennis) Grimh, Denise "Deedi" Eisenschink and his step-son, Eric (Jenny) Derks. Dave is further survived by his grandchildren, Kate Hermsen (Matthew Patterson), Kristina Hermsen, Tyler (Anna) Grimh, Ryan Grimh (Sammy Coyle), Krystal Nechodom (Jeremy), Kyle Eisenschink, Parker and Paige Derks; his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor and Connor Nechodom, Joplin and Ember Eisenschink, Lyla Grimh and Donovan Patterson. Dave is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends.
    In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by; his son-in-law, David Eisenschink and many aunts, uncles and other loved ones.
    Services for Dave will be held in private. A celebration of Dave's life will be held for his family and friends on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at LITTLE CHICAGO, N9650 Friendship Drive in Kaukauna. Online condolences can be made at www.wichmannfargo.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in David's name.
    Special thank you to all the staff at the Oncology Unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all their support, compassion and loving care for David and his family during this difficult time.

    Carol J. Pingel, Little Chute, age 67, died Sunday June 29, 2014 at her home. She was born on November 20, 1946 in Green Bay to Maurice and Irene (Hermsen) Van Asten. Carol married Charles Pingel on May 22, 1976 in Appleton. She was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church where she was a member and served as treasurer of the St. Elizabeth Society. As a young girl, Carol played snare drum and marched with the Little Chute Drum and Bugle Corp. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and Den Leader Coach for 13 years for the Little Chute Pack 151 and earned the Cub Scout District Merit Award. Carol and her husband fostered 32 babies over a 10 year period. She was also a Big Sister in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program.
    Carol is survived by her husband of 38 years Charles; sons: Tim (Nikki) of Oxford, WI; and Brad (Lisa) of Appleton; grandchildren: Aaron, Laura, Mason, Abby and Sara; mother: Irene Van Asten; sister: Sharon (Larry) Krueger; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Virginia Hall, Gerald Pingel, Carol Pingel and Wilmer Schulz. She is further survived by her puppy Joey and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    Carol was preceded in death by her father: Maurice Van Asten; father and mother-in-law: Carl and Laura Pingel; step father-in-law: Otto F. Pingel; brothers and sisters-in-law: Caroline (Melvin) Steiner, Kenneth Pingel, Harold S. Hall, Jeanette Schulz and Elizabeth (Charles) Peterson.
    Visitation will be held Thursday July 3, 2014 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. Msgr. A memorial is being established in Carol's name to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF).
