    Obituary:
Margie Dresang, 94, finished a full, influential life on July 6, 2016. Born Margie Catherine Tracy in Appleton, she married the love of her life, Norbert Dresang, in 1941, raised their family in Kimberly and spent her last years in Madison.
Margie's superpower was making everyone who met her feel special. She was quietly generous with an infectious smile and deceptive wit. She wondered aloud why strangers greeted her as if old friends.
Margie loved babies and children and books. She volunteered at the Holy Name elementary school library for more than 30 years. She was unconditionally devoted to her extensive family and fanatic about the Packers and Badgers.
Norbert preceded Margie in death, as did their son, Bryon. Margie is the last of her generation, outliving all of her siblings, all of Norbert's siblings and all of their siblings' spouses.
Margie is lovingly survived by daughters: Karen (Louis) Gardner, Madison; Beth (Kevin) Schaller, Onalaska; a daughter-in-law, Lois, Appleton; sons: Dennis (Maxine Austin), Madison; Gary, Wauwatosa; Dick, Casper, WY.; Joel (Mary), Shorewood; 18 grandchildren; 8 grandchildren-in-law; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, friends; and countless strangers who couldn't help but smile when they saw her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Highland Memorial Park Chapel, 3131 N. Richmond St., Appleton, with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the cemetery chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. The family welcomes memorials to the Cooperative Children's Book Center, http://ccbc.education.wisc.edu.

    Obituary:
Born June 7, 1931 - Died March 15, 1996 Father Melvin Tracy (birth name: Robert Louis) was born on June 7, 1931, in Appleton, Wisconsin. He attended Salvatorian Seminary in St. Nazianz for high school and the first two years of college. He entered the Novitiate in Menominee, Michigan, in 1951, and he made his profession of vows on September 8, 1952. He continued his studies for the priesthood at Divine Savior Seminary in Lanham, Maryland, and Catholic University in Washington, DC. He was ordained in 1958 on his birthday, June 7th, in the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Fr. Melvin taught at Mackin High School in Washington, DC; at Francis Jordan High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and at JFK Prep in St. Nazianz, until the school closed in 1982. He then taught at Father Ryan High School in Nashville, Tennessee; and later at Pacelli High School in Columbus, Georgia. Health issues forced him into semi-retirement in 1991. He moved to St. Nazianz and lived in the rectory of St. Gregory's Parish and taught classes in the grade school. He died on March 15, 1996, and was buried in the community cemetery on Loretto Hill.
Throughout his years in religious life, Fr. Melvin deeply loved working in education. His students regarded him as an excellent math and science teacher. He was able to apply intellectual knowledge to very practical situations. While teaching in St. Nazianz, he and his students constructed a house that was energy efficient and completely self-reliant in generating its own electricity. For him, the Gospel was a call to live in harmony with all of God's creation, and to treat everyone and everything with gentleness and respect.

    Written by Joe's granddaughter, Trisha:
The world lost an amazing, most kind, and gentle soul that will be missed more than words can say. He loved so unconditionally that it shined right through his tender heart. Being a father and father figure to many you couldn't help but learn from him by the way he lived. You learned the true meaning of a work ethic by his hard and dedicated work. You learned to rely on your faith with his "this to shall pass" attitude. With the little pat that he gave you while giving you a hug, you knew he was proud of you. The thing that made him the happiest was his family and seeing them happy. He will be missed not only by his squirrel friends, but all that knew and loved him.
"Keep it cool" Grandpa! ~With much love~

Gary A. Dresang, a longtime teacher of physical education in Wauwatosa, completed life on Aug. 14, 2017. He was 73.
Asked near the end of his illness what was best about his life, Gary said, "The kids." For 31 years, Gary taught at Washington Elementary School. Children called him Mr. D. His lessons extended beyond instilling fitness, activity and teamwork as lifelong pursuits. For more than a generation of schoolchildren and their parents, Gary modeled the individual devotion and self-sacrifice that make educators inspirations.
After retiring from teaching, Gary drove a parking shuttle bus at Mitchell International Airport, where he sometimes met up with former students and usually could recite the names and birth order of all their siblings.
Gary was born Sept. 28, 1943, in Appleton, Wis. He graduated from Kimberly High School and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Gary was an ardent sports fan. He sat in Section 8, Row 4, Seat 9 at the 1967 Ice Bowl and was a charter donor to the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Carole, his parents, Norbert and Margie, and his brother, Bryon. He is survived by two stepsons, Robert and Aaron Mostek, and by his siblings Dennis (Maxine Austin), Dick, Karen (Louie) Gardner, Joel (Mary) and Beth (Kevin) Schaller.
