    Altergott, Claribel (Billie) Schmidt
    Billie Altergott passed away August 5, 2009, at her daughter's home in Mobile AL, after a courageous seven year battle with cancer.
    She was born June 15, 1919, in Appleton, to the late Erwin and Mae Schmidt. With her husband, Henry Altergott, they built and operated the Circle Acres mobile home park in Little Chute for many years. They retired to Kiln, MS, to get out of the Wisconsin winters and to be near their daughter. After surviving the effects of Hurricane Katrina, Billie and her daughter relocated to Mobile, AL.
    Mom, a great cook, enjoyed cooking unique recipes for family and friends, going to the casino, working crossword puzzles, and spending time at Mayflower Lake in the Wittenberg/Birnamwood area. She loved having fun, especially with her family.
    Survivors include her son, Mark (Sandy) Altergott, Kaukauna; and daughter, Marlene (David) Ladner, Mobile, AL. Grandchildren, Brett (Heidi) Altergott and Abby Altergott, both from Oak Creek, WI. Great-grandchildren, Chase, Logan, and Hannah Altergott. A brother, Lloyd Schmidt, Storres, CN. A brother-in-law, Harvey (Elise) Altergott, Vienna MA. A sister-in-law, Helene Huver, Minneapolis, MN. And a family friend, Randy Stigman.
    She was preceded in death by her husband Henry in 2002 and two brothers, Earl and Harold.
    Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and share memories during an open house at the residence of her son, 1601 Plum Tree Ct, Kaukauna, Saturday, August 15, 2009, from 1 to 4 p.m.

    Obituary:
    Earl J. Schmidt, age 85, formerly of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at the Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Earl was born on December 15, 1921, in Appleton, the son of the late Erwin and Mary (Brooks) Schmidt. Earl was a Veteran of the United States Marines and served from 1942 until 1946. On October 12, 1946, he married Lois M. Berholtz in Appleton. Earl loved to build things and even built their first home in Appleton. He worked at Wisconsin Wires Inc. for 38 years until retiring in 1984. He spent his retirement at his home on Shawano Lake. Earl enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and most of all, golf.
    Earl is survived by his wife, Lois; four children: Steve (Pat) Schmidt of Hazelhurst, Marty (Sue) Schmidt of Hortonville, Lori (Jim Anthony) Schmidt of New London, David Schmidt of Rock Hill, SC; four grandchildren: Greg (Dawn) Schmidt of Green Bay, Tony (Nici) Schmidt of Woodruff, Matthew Schmidt of Phoenix, AZ, Joseph Schmidt of the U.S. Navy stationed in San Diego, CA; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia Kay and Addison Kathryn. Earl is further survived by a sister, Billie Altergott of Kiln, MS; brother, Lloyd Schmidt of Storrs, CT; uncle, Harold Brooks of Appleton; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
    The family wishes to celebrate Earl's life with just the family present at his home on Shawano Lake. A Memorial fund for Alzheimer's research has been established in Earl's memory. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano assisted the family with the arrangements.
