Obituary:
Mary Ann Hermes, Little Chute, age 77, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mary Ann was born September 25, 1928, in Little Chute the daughter of Henry and Contessee (Erb) Hinkens. She married Aloysius Hermes on June 18, 1946, at St. Mary's in Kaukauna. She belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Cooties, the American Legion, the Moose Club and was secretary of Electric City No. 3319. She was also the director of the card playing club at the VFW in Appleton. She loved to knit and crochet and also play cards and bingo.
She is survived by her son, Aloysius (Barb) Hermes, Green Lake; her daughter, Suzanne (Philip) Siewert, Appleton; her grandchildren: Shawn Hermes, Little Chute; Rachael Scharenbroch (special friend Eric), Appleton; Angela Scharenbroch, (special friend Max) Appleton; two great grandchildren: Kyle Scharenbroch and Nicholas Moua, Appleton; three step grandchildren: Christy Borchert, Waupaca; Greg Peterson, Weyauwega; and Sheryl Peterson, Stevens Point. She is further survived by her sisters: Helen (Ralph) Maas, Shawano; Delores Lindsey, Fresno, CA; brothers: Cliff Hinkens, Kaukauna; Antone (Phyllis) Hinkens, Shawano; Richard (Lindy) Edenton, NC and William (Sue) Hinkens, Kaukauna, and her very special niece Pam Schuster and her husband, Greg and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aloysius in 1979, her parents, twin brothers, Ronald and Robert Hinkens; and a brother, John Hinkens.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday August 16, 2006, at ST MARY of the ANNUNCIATION CATHOLIC CHURCH with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday at Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Cemetery. A memorial is being established in her name. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.
We wish to give a special thanks to the 4th floor oncology staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for their loving and compassionate care. We would also like to thank all her special friends who gave her so much support and comfort during her time of need.
