For the children of Edward and Sharon Van Dyke, running into friends at church with their own Dutch last name is perfectly normal. At St. Anthony Church alone, there are eight registered Van Dyke families, a small sampling of dozens of distant (and not so distant) relatives peppered around Washington County. Those relatives have also intermarried with the ancestors of other founding families who settled there - Vandeheys, Vanderzandens, Meeuwsens and Herinckxes - creating a concentration of Dutch community in the area.
For the Van Dykes, this countywide genealogical phenomenon started with one man - Theodore Van Dyke.
Born in 1847 in Reek, Holland, Theodore spent his boyhood in an almost-completely Catholic community. Mostly farmers, the Dutch immigrants followed the Irish, after the blight that caused the potato famine in Ireland spread across the English Chanel and Irish Sea to crops in Holland.
Theodore's mother died when he was 9; his father died three years later. All of the orphaned Van Dyke children, except one, decided to take the long journey to America. Theodore was almost 19 years old when they left.
When they arrived, they joined other families from their homeland in Wisconsin. It was there that Theodore met and married Mary Bernards, and together they traveled to Oregon in 1880, following rumors of temperate weather and ample farmlands. They bought acreage in Verboort.
It was there that Theodore and Mary's children were born. Theodore and his oldest sons planted giant Sequoia trees near the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Verboort. The cones were gleaned from a trip to Northern California. Those trees today reach higher than 150 feet.
Theodore's family was also the first in the area to own a car - a 1911 Buick. Son Henry Van Dyke established a successful seed-cleaning business in Verboort. Son Walter married Margaret Joosten and worked as a farmer and ran a dairy. For many years he directed the Visitation choir and his eldest son, Joseph, served for several years as county commissioner. Son William married Alagonda Evers. She was known as "Auntie Allie" and for her beautiful flower arrangements for the church and singing voice.
Said a book marking the Verboort Quadricentennial: "Each weekend, as she lovingly arranged the beautiful bouquets - with flowers, more often than not, from her own garden - she would burst forth in joyous song, and the church would resound with the lovely sacred melodies. Sometimes the pastor, overhearing, would steal in from outside, unnoticed, just to listen and enjoy."
Other members of the family were brothers Theodore and Henry, sisters Anna, Mary Ann, Theodora and Petronella, as well as two children who died at birth and two who died as infants.
Edward's grandfather, Joseph, was born to John Van Dyke, husband of Constance Hermens. John was a farmer, brick-maker and carpenter. He taught Joseph and two other sons (out of a family of 11) carpentry skills and many of the homes they built still stand in Washington County.In a personal account of his life, Joseph noted some of the houses he built with his brothers and dad: Among them were homes for Elmer Verboort, Art Verboort, Clem Vanderzanden, and Mickie and Franklin McCoy. Joseph's dad helped him build his own house where he would live with his wife, Marjorie Porter.
Marjorie and Joseph dated at Verboort High, but had known of each other all through grade school.
"When I was 16 and Joe 18, we became steadies," Marjorie wrote in a collection of stories about her family. Their first date was to a Hillsboro theater, where they saw a silent comedy starring Buster Keaton. She remembered Joe laughing "outrageously loud," and being a little embarrassed. Nevertheless, the couple married in 1931 at Visitation church, a ceremony officiated by Father Hugh McDevitt.
Joseph remembered the birth of his first child, Pat, in 1931. His memoirs include stories about his children growing up, including one of Pat as a baby.
"[She] was a pretty baby and was walking at 8 months. Sometimes she would crawl under the table and then stand up and walk around under there, and then bump her head when she tried to come out from under," he wrote.
The matriarch of the family, Mary, died in 1922, due to complications of influenza. When patriarch Theodore died in 1934, he left behind 54 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Another Van Dyke legacy: Margaret Van Dyke, known to most as Maggie, suggested a sausage and sauerkraut dinner for the annual parish meal in 1938. Regarding that first parish dinner, the Verboort Centennial said, "the community served 150 dinners, 198 pounds of sausage and 10 gallons of kraut, and it was not enough."
Joseph was instrumental in helping rebuild Visitation church after it burned down in 1941. The parish couldn't rebuild immediately because resources were scarce in wartime, but Joseph spent 22 years on the parish committee, which eventually oversaw the rebuilding of the church.
In reflecting on his life (when he penned his memoirs in 1982), Joseph wrote: "As I look back over my 72 years to when we used coal oil lamps and lanterns for light, wood for cooking and heating the house, horses for farming and traveling; the country roads were just dirt, the main street of Forest Grove was planked with boards…We used slates and slate pencils to write with when I started school … Although we had none of the modern conveniences of today, people were more content then than they are now."

Family History Researcher:
Bill was a lifelong farmer, raising wheat, oats, and barley, as well as ch erries walnuts and filberts. Like most farmers of the era, he grew most of what his family needed including hogs, c ows, and chickens.
Bill and his sons start ed the first commercial grain cleaner in the Verboort area in 1930. He had invented an auger t hat fed the grain onto a canvas which he patented in 1935. He later sold the p atent rights.
Bill's father Theodore, passed h is love of music to his son. Bill played cornet in a series of bands in the late 1 890's to the late 1920's, including the Verboort Orchestra and Verboort Cathol ic Band. A photo exists of him seated with a base drum, posing with other membe rs of a band that was described as being quite good, and in high demand. Bi ll in turn passed his interest in music down to his children, who all played in b ands, including The Nightingales and
The Swing Melodians.

Forest Grove, March 18-- W illiam August VanDyke, farmer of the Verboort district for 64 years, died suddenly Sunday. W orry over loss of his sons, called into service, leaving the operation of his big farm on h is hands, is believed to have aggravated a heart condition. High requiem mass was said Wednesd ay at St. Francis Catholic Church of Roy with the Reverend Mathus Jonas, the Rev. Joseph Saa l, and the Rev. Edmund Vanderzanden on the altar. St.James church choir of McMinnville san g. Burial was in Verboort cemetery. VanDyke came with his parents from DePere, Wiscons in to Verboort five years after five families had bought the big tract of land, which they named V erboort, establishing the parish. He was three years old, was reared in the parish, attending i ts school, and on May 5, 1908, married Alice Cecilia Evers, a descendant of one of the first fa milies, who survives him. There are eight children. Julius of Carlton, Robert of North Fork, Te xas; Mrs Julius (Irene) Moore of Cornelius, Cyril, Stanley, Ervin, Esther and Mrs. Martin (Ev elyn) Herb of Forest Grove. There are three sisters: Mrs.William Verboort, Mrs. W. Van dervelden and Mrs. Albert Jansen, and two brothers: Henry and John VanDyke, all of Verboo rt and vicinity.

Cuene, Wilfred J. "Bill" Wilfred J. "Bill" Cuene, 93, De Pere, passed away Friday, July 9, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1910, in De Pere, son of the late Frank and Hattie (Van Dyke) Cuene. He married Marion Noonan, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 1998. He was owner/manager of Ralph's Tire Service and a Coast-to-Coast Store until his health forced him to slow down. He sold new and used cars for Broadway Chevrolet-Olds with his brother, Herb, for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at his home in Suamico on the river and his home in De Pere on the Fox River, where he enjoyed fishing, boating, and gardening, and took great pride in his home and yard. After he retired he especially enjoyed woodworking in his garage. He truly loved his family. Wilfred was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in De Pere. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" McGuire, Green Bay; and Virginia "Ginny" and Pat Dwyer, Green Bay; two sons, Don and Evelyn Cuene, Green Bay; and William "Bill" and Kathy Cuene, De Pere; 19 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marion; son-in-law, Roland McGuire; two granddaughters, Judy and Karen Jean; six brothers, John, Joe, Herb, Leo, Norbert, and Hugo; and three sisters, Marie Bertrand, Agatha Burdon, and Anne Thompson. Harvey Van Dyke passed away at his home in Waupun on Sunday, December 7, 2008, only two days before his 92nd birthday. He was born on December 9, 1916, in Wrightstown to Arnold and Annie (Gerrits) Van Dyke. He was united in marriage to Irene Hopfensperger on August 26th, 1938. She preceded him in death on November 8th, 2007. Harvey was honorably discharged from the Army in 1941, and was engaged in farming and was a union carpenter for many years. Harvey loved to play cards, and to ride his bicycle every day along the recreation trail in Waupun.
Harvey is survived and will be greatly missed by his two daughters: Joyce (Gerald) Lamers of Kaukauna and Terri (Thomas) Main of Waupun; a son-in-law: Leo Penterman of Appleton. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law: Doris Van Dyke, Esther Thiel, Shirley Hopfensperger, and Myrna Hopfensperger; and a brother-in-law John Wisneski.
He was preceded in death by his wife Irene, a daughter: Sandra Penterman, a grandson: Joseph Penterman, three brothers: Richard, Clarence, and Robert, and four sisters: Catherine Meulemans, Clara Nieling, Leona VanDeLeyGraaf, and Alrita Wisneski.
The funeral liturgy for Henry will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH (St. Mary's Site) 119 W. 7th Street, in Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.

You are missing my other twin Aunt Lorraine married to Patrick McDaniel live in Racine. Aunt Norraine lived in Appleton and she passed away along with her husband with in a few months. My mother, Regina was in the middle of the family. She had 5 older than her and 5 younger than her. She was 10 years old when her mother died and the twins were 10 days old. So my mother took care of the younger kids until she was 17 when Calumet County took the kids away from their father because he was drunk all the time and not providing for them. The older boys when to area farms and other older girls when so some time job. Uncle Bob was a little slow so they sent him to Chippewa Falls to some home for boys. Uncle Kenneth and Ruth went to the orphanage in Green Bay and my mother went to Our Lady of Charity because she was too young to be on her own and to old for the orphanage because she was only 17 years. After my mother and dad were married they took Ruth out of the orphanage to live with them on the Brooks Homestead until till she married her husband, Richard Vosters. The twins were adopted my their mother's brothers....Bill Gerrits adopted Lorraine and Nicholas Gerrits adopted Norraine. There were always hard feelings between my mother and her twin sister, Lorraine because she never invited her brothers and sisters to her wedding. Mother would always says Lorraine wasn't her sister anymore.....she even went to the grave not seeing her sister. After mother died I decided that I wanted to see Aunt Lorraine but she just made excuses why I couldn't come and see her in Racine...She was gone all summer to the cottage and in the fall they went to a lot of Packer Games. Well that was OK for awhile........but being the full blooded Hollander that I am I went on a mission. Just so happens Aunt Lorraine had knee surgery and she was confined to her home and I showed up on her door step. She was a little shocked at first but I felt satisfied that I went to see her but I haven't heard a word from her since...I believe she is still alive. I think last time I saw her I must have been 7 or 8 years old at Uncle Bill's house in Wrightstown. When I went to visit Aunt Lorraine I should have taken Kay Krueger Pingel, Norraine's daughter, with me because she was 10 years old when her mother, Norraine died and 3 months later her father died. Her and her brother, Mark, landed in a foster home....I guess Lorraine never got in contact with her twin sisters children and Kay wanted to see her, too. I will always hope she would try and get a hold of Kay to talk to her but that isn't very likely...I tried...but at least she let me take their picture before I left. So I gave Kay a picture of her Aunt that she has never seen . Well, I better gone now before I get email cramps in my fingers. This is the most of typed since I retired.

Lloyd A. Siebers, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Appleton Medical Center. Lloyd was born on January 4, 1923, in Kaukauna, son of the late Martin and Mary (Van Dyke) Siebers. Lloyd proudly served his country from 1943 until 1945 in the United States Army as a Medic in the European Theater of World War II. On November 23, 1946, he was married to Delores Fjellerad in Kimberly. Lloyd worked as a tinsmith at Thilmany's for 43 years. Lloyd loved watching the Packers and the Brewers. He enjoyed fishing, and his cars.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Delores; and two nephews, Larry Weyenberg, and Bob Vandehy.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter, Leo, Wilfred, Harold, and Donald; his sisters, Margaret, Agnes, Rosanna, Delores, and Virginia; and two nieces-in-law, Carol Weyenberg, and Joan Vandehy.

Heart Mountain homesteader Vincent 'Jim' Spiering died at his Powell home Feb. 8, 2011. He was 91 years old.
Mr. Spiering was born Aug. 26, 1919 in Hillsboro, Ore., the son of Charles Spiering and Lamberta Vanderzanden Spiering. He graduated from high school and military flight school and served in the Navy.
He married Lois Kathleen Hunker in Hillsboro on Nov. 24, 1947.
The couple homesteaded a farm on the Heart Mountain Project in 1950. He served on the Northwest College board of trustees and enjoyed flying, traveling and fishing.
Mr. Spiering is survived by his wife, Lois; five sons, Jerry (Lorraine) of West Linn, Ore.; Ken (Jeanie) of Spokane, Wash.; Gene (Susi) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Kelly (Sylvia) of Powell; and Tom (Janet) of Powell; a sister-in-law, Barbara Iten of Seattle; 30 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and a grandson, Michael.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at St. Barbara's Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14 at St. Barbara's. The Rev. Glen Szczechowski will officiate.
Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home assisted the family with funeral arrangements.

Ervin Francis Van Dyke, Little Chute, age 94, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016. He was born on January 31, 1922 in Wrightstown to the late John and Bridget (Baeten) Van Dyke. He graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1939 and attended St. Norbert College in 1943. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a trained flight radio operator. Erv wedded Jane Weyenberg on August 31, 1946 with whom he was able to celebrate 59 years of wonderful marriage. He worked for Sylvester & Nielsen Office Supplies for 34 years, retiring in 1984.
Erv dedicated his life to the American Legion Club and was elected as State Commander and as a National Vice Commander. In this position, he often told of the honor of meeting President Reagan in the Oval Office. Additionally, he served on many state and national committees, received an award for being a 70-year member, and volunteered at Badger Boys State for more than 25 years. Locally, Erv belonged to the Urban Klister Post 436 where he also held many offices. Throughout his life, Erv was very community minded. He was a Kiwanian and served on the parish council at St. John Nepomucene in Little Chute.
Erv was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his card-playing buddies on a weekly basis. He scored a hole in one at the young age of 90 and was thrilled to have once had a perfect cribbage hand. Erv never missed his Friday Fish Fry at Wrightstown Legion Club or his Sunday morning strawberry pancake at Landreman's Family Restaurant. Erv loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all thoroughly appreciated hearing his amazing stories about his time in service and his travels around the world.
Erv is survived by his children: Dan of Wrightstown and Barbara (Mark) Mollen of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Andrea (Jade) Olson, Vicki (Kevin) Quinn, Bridget (Lee) Busse, Jason (Sheila) Mollen, Matthew (Trisha) Mollen, and Benjamin Mollen; great grandchildren: Walker, Cooper, Savannah, Gavin, Teagan, Austin, Autumn and Jackson; sister: Rosita Spierings; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Helen Van Dyke, Carol (Carl) Newhouse, Tom (Karla) Weyenberg, Lori (Don) De Groot, Rita Powell and Angela (Joe) Van Bakel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Bernice Geurts.
In addition to his parents, Erv was preceded in death by his lovely wife Jane; brothers: Edward "Bud," (Betty), Elmer "Butch," Lloyd (Ruth), and Sylvester "Ves" Van Dyke; and brothers-in-law: George Spierings, Mark Weyenberg (Rose), and Morris Powell.

He was bo rn July 1, 1930, in Wrightstown, son of the late John and Bridget (Baete n) Van Dyke. Ves graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1948. He farm ed on the family farm until joining the U.S. Army, where he served duri ng the Korean War. He married Carol Klister, July 7, 1953, in Wrightsto wn at St. Paul Catholic Church. Ves worked construction for Oudenhoven’s a nd his brother-in-law, Hank Hendricks. He later worked at Miller Electri c, and also at Nabisco, where he retired in 1993 as Plant Supervisor. He w as an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where he was a trustee, c ommunion distributor, lector, and also helped with communion services. V es was a former Village of Wrightstown trustee and president in the 70’ s. He was a very active American Legion Post 436 member in Wrightstow n. He was former Vice-Commander and Commander at the local level for the W rightstown Urban Klister Post 436, 9th District Level, and also attained V ice-Commander status at the state level. Ves was currently Adjutant and Ma nager of the Urban Klister Post 436 in Wrightstown. He was also caretak er at Housing Management in Wrightstown. He loved to play cards with his f amily and friends, enjoyed going to the casino, and was proud of the re d, white, and blue. Ves was a real handyman, and truly enjoyed making thin gs. Obituary:
On Sunday, January 31, 2016, Donald Eugene Cuene, son of Marion (Noonan) and Wilfred "Bill" Cuene, embarked on his last journey. He was born on May 4, 1927 and spent the majority of his life in Green Bay. Don attended Central Catholic High School, Class of 1945, but left to join the Navy, serving in the amphibious forces in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Green Bay in June, 1946, met and married Evelyn Brunette and they've been together for 68 years.
Don loved airplanes and flying, and soloed at age 16. He attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, but circumstances brought him back to Green Bay in 1948. Don was a member of the Air Force Reserve and served a year at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK during the Korean Conflict. Returning to Green Bay, he joined the Green Bay Police Department in November, 1951 and served 34 ½ years as a police officer. He retired from the department as Chief in 1985.
Don enjoyed challenges and learning. He was an accomplished pilot, sailor, photographer, and target shooter. Don and Evie were world travelers, first in their RV and, after wearing it out, continued with cruises and tours. He loved his computer and was on his fifth one. Don also loved music, especially contemporary jazz. He was one of the founding members of the Windjammers Sailing Club, racing the "Light Breeze" with son, Tom, and cruising the Bay and upper areas of the Great Lakes with his family. Don was instrumental in establishing a rifle and pistol range at the De Pere Sportsman's Club. He belonged to the Brown County Sportsman's Club and the Nicolet Rifle Club.
Work-wise, Don was active with the Green Bay Police Benevolent for many years served on the Governor's Retirement Study Commission and was on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Police Benevolent Association, serving a term as President. He, along with a few other police target shooters, formed the Fox Valley Pistol Club and held competitions at cities throughout the region. As juvenile Police Captain, he brought the School Liaison Program to Green Bay. On July 7, 1977, Don was sworn in as Chief of the Green Bay Police Department. He loved the department and all of his officers and staff.
Don is survived by his wife, Evie and their three children, Tom (Carol), Pam (Mike) Baeten and Frank. He is also survived by two wonderful grandsons: Justin (Stefanie) Cuene, Arizona; and Tristan Cuene (friend, Laura), Colorado; two darling great-grandchildren, Sofia and Miles, Arizona; his brother, William "Bill"; brother-in-law, Patrick Dwyer; Evie's sister-in-law, Norma Brunette, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, parents-in-law, Clarence and Irene Brunette; two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" McGuire and Virginia "Ginny" Dwyer; brother-in-law, Rollie McGuire; sister-in-law, Kathy Cuene; Evie's two brothers, Bob and Duke Brunette, with whom he had a very close relationship; and two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Brunette and Marion VanderMissen.

Margaret C. "Peggy" McGuire, 85, Green Bay, died peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2015. She was born on December 20, 1929, in Green Bay to Mae and Wilfred Cuene. On September 29, 1948, she married Roland P. "Mac" McGuire at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Green Bay. They had six children. Mac preceded her in death on March 9, 1996.
Peggy loved spending time at the family cottage in Athelstane. She was particularly proud of the fact that she and Dad built the cottage. We all have many happy memories of family and friend time spent there. Everyone who came burned their name above the fireplace.
Peggy's hobbies included her keeping up her yard and the many different flowers that she planted. She loved her backyard pond given to her by her boys. Peggy belonged to the same bridge group for over 20 years, and was a proud hockey mom who spent many years taking care of the youth hockey concession stand.
Peggy is survived by her children: Sharon (Tom) Lutsey, Egg Harbor; Mike McGuire, Waukesha; Maureen Landry and her friend, Ted, Green Bay; Tim (Lynn) McGuire, Townsend; Dave McGuire and his friend, Cindy, Green Bay; and Ted (Sara) McGuire, Green Bay; 15 grandchildren, Matt, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Andrew, Ben, Missy, Jason, Adam, Chad, Eric, Abbie, Justin, Emily, Marc, and Lindsey; five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Tristin, Henry, Simon, and Alexander; her brothers, Bill Cuene, and Don (Evie) Cuene; brother-in-law, Patrick Dwyer; and many nieces and nephews.

Obituary:
Black Creek - Passed away on April 8, 2018 at his residence at the age of 84. Lloyd was born in Wrightstown, Wisconsin on September 18, 1933 to August and Catherine (nee Van Dyke) Meulemans. Lloyd graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1951, and continued his education at Fox Valley Technical College for Electronic Training and also at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College for Electronic Instrument Training. Lloyd enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.
Lloyd was joined in marriage to Annaceil Lappen on July 19, 1958 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Kaukauna. Lloyd was employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper for 44 years and retired as a Master Electrician in 1995. Lloyd loved to sing, and since 1942 had been active in local church choirs. His interests included, old cars, especially his restored 1954 Ford Crestline, wood working, especially the "Jesus" pattern he has re-created over 500 time for friends and family, gardening and cross word puzzles, and polka music. One of his most cherished memories was his participation in the Old Glory Honor Flight in 2016.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years Annaceil "Annie", children Jean (Kenneth) Fink, David (Ken Harrison), Cathy (Diane Dick), Jeff (Rachel). Grandfather of Jen (Jeff) Schoening, Jesse, Megan, Alexandria (fiance' Chris Chism), and Kimberlyn. Brother of Marjorie "Marge" and Ila Mae "Toots". Brother-in-law Don Stratton and Jackie (Ed) Broeren. Further survived by other relatives and friends.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, sons Michael and Thomas, sister Marilyn Stratton, brothers-in-law Ken Hawley, and LeRoy Thede.
Visitation will be held on Thursday April 12 at St. Edwards's Catholic Church, N2926 State Road 47, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral Liturgy at 11:00 AM. Military Honors and burial to follow at St. Edward's Cemetery. A memorial in Lloyd's name is being established.

Darlene Esther Gage (nee Van Dyke), age 77, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Appleton Medical Center. Darlene was born on April 21, 1934 in Florence, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Richard and Esther (Davis) Van Dyke. Darlene grew up in Wrightstown and graduated from Wrightstown High School. On September 30, 1952, she was married to Charles A. Lorenz. Darlene and Charles raised nine children. She was a devoted mother and wife. Charles passed away on June 19, 1976 from an aortic aneurism resulting from Marfan Syndrome. Darlene worked at retail stores in Appleton for many years and also owned her own turquoise jewelry business. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; gardening, reading, and collecting antiques. In March of 1981, Darlene joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Appleton. Darlene is survived by her children: Deeahna (aka Diane) Lorenz, Alameda, CA; Debbie (Steve) Gradl, Appleton; John (Barb) Lorenz, Neenah; Dave (Cathy) Lorenz, Roselle, IL; Laurie Lackey, Appleton; Jeanne (Rick) Bushey-Lorenz, Wrightstown; Dan (Dee) Lorenz, Appleton; Cheri Lorenz, Berkeley, CA; and Lonn (Linda) Lorenz, Fremont, CA; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is further survived by siblings, Richard M. (Vonnie) Van Dyke, Kimberly; Verl (Angelica) Van Dyke, Westmont, IL; Barbara (Ron) Westerback, Grants Pass, OR; Vivian (Harold) Schmidt, Neenah, and brother-in-law John (Pat) Lorenz, Cannon City, MN. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Richard A. and Esther (Davis) Van Dyke; husbands Charles A. Lorenz, Ron Otto, and Walter Gage; in-laws Norbert Lorenz, Fred (Fritz) Lorenz, Helene Van Handel, Cathy Kilsdonk, Carol Van Dyke, and Sofie Van Dyke. Richard M. "Dick" Van Dyke, age 80 of Kimberly passed away on August 11, 2016 at his home. Dick was born on January 6, 1936 in Wrightstown, Wisconsin to Richard and Esther (Davis) Van Dyke. He was a graduate of Wrightstown High School. After graduation he served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. In 1956, Dick met the love of his life, Yvonne Chappa. On August 30, 1958, they were married at St. Marks Catholic Church in Redgranite, Wisconsin. Richard and Yvonne enjoyed spending winter in Donna, Texas.
Dick enjoyed playing cards and games, especially Sheepshead. He was an avid reader and stamp collector. He loved travelling with Yvonne, fishing, camping, bike riding and watching movies. He was a member of VFW, Kaukauna Post 3319 and the Tin Can Sailors.
He is survived by: daughters, Victoria (Michael) Johnson of Appleton, Valerie (Dennis) Douglas of Kimberly, and Julie (Jerry) Grygny of New London. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Jesse (Debra) Douglas, Amanda (Jonathan Handler) Douglas, and Ashley (Tony) Marcks, Benjamin Kloes; step grandchildren, Cole and Chase Grygny; great grandchildren, Maxwell and Lillian Eve Douglas, and Brynley and Briella Kloes, Ayla Von, Beau Benjamin and Bentley David Marcks; siblings: Barb (Ron) Westerback, Verl (Angie) Van Dyke, Vivian (Harold) Schmidt, He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Yvonne, son, Richard H. Van Dyke, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Darlene (Walter) Gage, brother-in-law Charlie Lorenz, Carol Van Dyke and Sophie Van Dyke.
The funeral liturgy for Dick will be on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 11:00am at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, Kimberly Location with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. Van De Leygraaf, Robert John
Bob Van De Leygraaf, 74, Kaukauna, died at home with the family he loved by his side, Friday, Dec. 25, 2009. Bob was born October 6, 1935, in the Town of Vandenbroek on the family farm, son of John and Leona Van Dyke Van De Leygraaf, and was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute.
Bob was a U.S. Army veteran with the 808th Tank Battalion, Company C, 274th Regiment, 84th Division, Appleton. In January 1958, Bob was sent to Fort Dix North Carolina for basic training, then Jackson Carolina for VAAC. In July 1958 he came home to the U.S. Army reserves and was honorably discharged in 1963. Bob was a proud member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. Bob worked as warehouse manager for Schiedermeyer Hardware on College Avenue in Appleton, then as a fabricator for Fox Tractor and Oshkosh Truck Corporation until he retired in April 2000. Bob loved camping with his family and friends in northern Wisconsin, Sunday drives, planting trees, picking hickory nuts, playing cards, dancing, and motorcycling with his good friend Norm.

Elaine Van Den Eng, 59, Freedom died Friday, May 11, 2007, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 19, 1947, in Appleton, daughter of John and Leona (Van Dyke) Vande Leygraaf. Elaine married Ronald J. Van Den Eng, November 7, 1967, in Little Chute. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom.
Elaine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
