    On Thursday, May 7, Joseph Koehler, Sr. one of the pioneers of the town of Charlestown, died at the home of his son, Erhart, at the advanced aged of 86 years, 8 month, and 26 days.
    The deceased was a native of Germany and came to America in 1853, locating on the farm on which he died, some two miles southeast of Hayton. His wife died some eighteen years ago and since that time he made his home with his son. He was a good, true Christian, neighbor and friend and was held in high esteem by those who knew him. He was buried on Monday from St. Martin's Catholic Church and the funeral was largely attended.
    He leaves two sons, Joseph and Erhard and six daughters, Mmes. John Kasper of Minnesota, Xavier Geiser, Joseph Hanke, Sigmund Mueller of Charlestown, Michael Gruber of Chilton and John Buhl of Charlestown. The last named was an adopted daughter

    Chilton -- Mrs. Michael Gruber, 70, passed away on Friday morning at their home at Chilton, following a brief illness. She resided on Washington street.
    Mrs. Gruber, formerly Margaret Kehler, was born in town Charlestown. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Philip Nett, Mrs. John Schabach, Mrs. Peter Bret, Mrs. Joseph Schwabenlander and Mrs. Anton Ramminger, all of whom are of Calumet county, and by three sons, George and Michael in Calumet county, and John in California.
    The funeral will probably be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's church in Chilton.

    Frank b. May 1, 1897 and died at age 67 on Aug 27, 1964.
    His parents were Joseph Koehler and Mathilda Anders
    He is buried at St. Martin's in Charlestown.
    I did not find Veronica's death record.

    FRANK J. KOEHLER
    Frank J. Koehler, 67, of R. 4, Chilton, died at 6 a.m. today at his home after an illness of several months. He was born in the Town of Charlestown May 1, 1897, a son of the late Joseph and Mathilda Anders Koehler. He attended St. Martin's p a r o c h i a l school, Charlestown and was married May 31, 1921, to Veronica Reininger at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St, John. A member of St. Martin's Catholic Church, Charlestown, he was active in the Holy Name Society of the parish.
    Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Miss Anita Koehler, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Albert Kasper, Milwaukee; two brothers, John of Chilton and Raymond of Spokane, Wash.; and two sisters, Mrs. George Salm,Chilton, and Mrs. Leona Kleinhans. New Holstein, Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral Home, Chilton, and 10:30 a.m. at St. M a r t i n Catholic Church, Charlestown, The Rev. Arnulf Buck, SDS, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the church 'cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday. The parish rosary will be at 8 p.m.

    Michael Gruber, 72, of R 3, Chilton, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at his farm home where he had lived for 48 years.
    Born July 30, 1890 in the Town of Chilton, he was a son of the late Michael and Margaret Koehler Gruber. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Chilton as a child and had been a farmer all his life.
    His marriage to Miss Leona Nennig was performed Sep 22, 1915 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chilton. He was a member of that parish and its Holy Name Society.
    Survivors are his wife, five sons, Norbert, of Milwaukee, Wallace of Seward, Alaska, Alois of Chilton, Lee of Valders, and Clarence on the homestead farm, 15 grandchildren, two brothers, George of Chilton and John of Visalia, Calif., and four sisters, Mrs. Philip Nett of Jericho, Mrs. Catherine Schaback of Chilton, Mrs. Anton Ramminger of New Holstein and Mrs. Theresa Schwarbenlander of Hilbert.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chilton following family rites at 9:30 a.m. at the Erbe Hoffmann Funeral Home in Chilton. The Rev. Henry Schmidt will be celebrant of the requiem Mass and burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of services. A parish vigil will be held there at 8 o'clock tonight.

    Alois J Gruber, 51, of R.2 Chilton, was pronounced dead on arrival Friday at Calument Memorial Hospital, Chilton, after being stricken with an apparent heart attack at home.
    Born in the Town of Chilton on April 24, 1920, a son of Mrs. Leona Nennig Gruber of Chilton and the late Michael Gruber.
    He attended St Mary Catholic School and graduated from Chilton High School in 1939.
    Mr. Gruber had been a farmer all of his life.
    He was a member of St Mary Catholic Church of Chilton and its Holy Name Society.
    On May 28, 1946, he married Ruth Siegwarth at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in St John.
    Surivors, besides his wife and mother, include two daughters, Patricia and Diane, and two sons, Robert and Richard all at home; and four brothers: Norbert, Milwaukee; Wallace, Soldotna, Alaska; Lee Kiel; and Clarence, Chilton.
    Funeral services were held Monday at the Pfeffier Funeral Home in Chilton. A funeral Mass was offered at St Mary Church the Rev. Martin Fox, Holy Innocence Church, Manitowoc, a cousin, officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

    Mildred V. "Millie" Roehrig, 91, of Hilbert, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna. Millie was born June 1, 1925 in St. John, Wisconsin, daughter of the late John A. & Cecilia (Reininger) Gruber. Millie married Leander E. Roehrig on May 10, 1944 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chilton. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2007.
    Millie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert, Christian Mothers, and Daughters of Isabella and volunteered at Salvatorian Center and St. Vincent de Paul. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, playing a round of cards, sewing, painting, doing crafts, and being part of various bowling teams throughout Hilbert in her earlier years. Most importantly, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother that cherished being involved with her family.
    Survivors include her children, Dennis (Grace) Roehrig of Hilbert, Lyle (Arlene) Roehrig of Valders, Sandy (John) Ritzke of Appleton, Gladys Jacobson of Viroqua, Gloria (Dennis) Halbach of Hilbert, Tom (Jean) Roehrig of Hilbert, and Nancy (Lee) Probst of Hilbert; 19 grandchildren, Judd (Diane), Jason (Danielle), Mark (Kay), Jon (Annette), Todd (Stacie) Roehrig, Michael (Amy), Jessica, Kevin (Christine) Ritzke, Marisa Buros, Lynn (Pat) Bedroske, Joanna (Jonah) Lottig, Cheri Higgins, Brian (Laurie) Halbach, Jenny (Matt) Camp, Joe (Maria) Halbach, Kelly (Justin) Anthony, Sara (Jeff) Matzdorf, Nicholas Probst, Jacqueline Probst; 37 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; 2 brothers, Elroy Gruber and Reuben (Robyn) Gruber; sister, Vandy Mueller-Maxwell; four sisters-in-law, Elsie Dorn, Grace (Ken) Wirth, Shirley Roehrig, and Peggy Gruber; and many other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her parents and husband, Leander, Millie was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald; 3 brothers, Wilmer, Ronald, and Leslie; two sisters, Martha Grimes and Germaine Hill; and a son-in-law, Thomas Jacobson.
    Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church (108 S. 6th Street) in Hilbert with Rev. Michael Betley officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main Street) in Chilton from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 and on Wednesday at church from 9:00am to 10:45am. A parish vigil service will take place on Tuesday evening at the close of the visitation.
    A memorial fund has been established in the name of Mildred "Millie" Roehrig.
    Millie's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at St. Paul Elder Services and St. Paul Hospice Services for the care and compassion shown to Millie and her family.

    Leslie Gruber Farmer Leslie Gruber of Visalia passed away at age 76 on Thursday, May 31, 2012. He was a walnut rancher, custodian, and taxi driver. He was a resident of Visalia, CA. He was born to John and Cecilia Gruber on July 7, 1935 in Visalia, CA. He married Muriel Albury who preceded him in death. They had one child: Therese (Gruber) Hutchinson. Also preceding him in death is his sister Martha, sister Gerry, and brother Wilmer. He is survived by his daughter Therese (Gruber) Hutchinson, her husband Chet, their children Samantha and Heather Hutchinson, brothers Elroy Gruber, Ronald Gruber, his wife Robin, sisters Mildred Roehrig, Vandey Maxwell, her husband Lester, and many nieces and nephews. Leslie enjoyed antique cars, gardening, and spending lots of time with his granddaughters. Services will be held at Salser and Dillard.     Jerome A. SchwabenlenderJerome ?Jerry? Schwabenlender, 80, of Cottage Drive in the Town of Friends hip, formerly of Belgium, Wis., passed away at St. Agnes Hospital in Fo nd du Lac.
    Jerome was born on Sept. 27, 1924, in St. John, Wis., the son of Joseph a nd Theresa Gruber Schwabenlender.
    On June 19, 1948, he was united in marriage to Margaret C. Schomisch in Ch ilton. The couple moved to Belgium in 1949, where they farmed and operat ed the Belgium Elevator, Feed Mill and Fertilizer Plant for the next 45 ye ars.
    During this time, Jerome was very involved with community groups. He w as a charter member and past president of the Belgium Lions Club, a past p resident of the Belgium Fire Department, and was active in the Catholic Or der of Foresters, 4-H, Boy Scouts and the St. Mary Lake Church Parish.
    In 1997, Jerome and Maggie retired on the lake in Fond du Lac and are memb ers of Presentation Catholic Church. Together they traveled throughout t he United States in their RV. Jerome also enjoyed woodworking, fishing a nd gardening.
    He is survived by his wife, Maggie; four daughters, Nancy Opitz of Cedar G rove, Jo (Mark) Johnson of Mequon, Kay (Tracy) Van Den Berg of Prior Lak e, Minn., and Ruth (Jeff) Dudarenke of Fond du Lac; and two sons, James (M ari) and David (Sherry) Schwabenlender, both of Cedar Grove. He is furth er survived by 12 grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (Urana) Schwabenl ender of New Franken, Wis.
    • Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesda y, March 23, 2005, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake Church. Father Jam es Vojtik will officiate. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
    • Visitation: The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesda y, March 22, 2005, at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave., Belgiu m, and again from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, at the church.
