RACINE - On Aug. 10, more than two dozen Racine Dominican Sisters will celebrate Jubilee, a notable anniversary of the day they made their first profession to become Racine Dominicans.

The Jubilee celebration follows the annual four-day Assembly, when the Racine Dominicans gather from 11 different states at Siena Center, the motherhouse, for business meetings, prayer and visiting with each other.

* Sister Jilene (Theophane) Giordana, OP, a native of Kaukauna, graduated from St. Norbert College with a bachelor's degree in history in 1948 and received a certificate of theology from Marquette University in 1954. She was a teacher in Detroit and Center Line, Mich., from 1933-1943, and both teacher and principal from 1943-96 in Green Bay, Merrill, Racine, Kenosha, Janesville and Milwaukee. Giordana retired from active ministry and now resides at Siena Center after 27 years in the central city of Milwaukee as teacher and parish worker ministering to the poor and the elderly.

Sister Jilene (Theophane) Giordana, O.P., 91 of Racine
Services were March 17 for Sister Jilene Giordana, O.P., who died March 12. She was 91.
She professed her first vows in 1933 and her final vows in 1939. In Racine she served as principal and teacher of Holy Name School from 1943-'49. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were SS Peter & Paul, Green Bay; St. Francis Xavier, Merrill; St. Benedict the Moor, Milwaukee; St. Mary, Kenosha; St. Mary, Janesville; Holy Angels and Central City Catholic in Milwaukee.
Survivors include the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates; two sisters, Janice (Robert) Hammen and Mary Hubert; three brothers, Frank (Florence), James and Robert Giordana; and four sister-in-laws, Dolores, Donna, Lorraine and Sally Giordana.
The family has suggested memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Fund.

Skalmusky, Philomene, "Phil ", Kaukauna, Age 87 died on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at Manor Care Health Servic es in Appleton. She was born on May 7, 1916 to the late Emil and Laura (De Guardo) Giordana. Phil married Rudolph E. Skalmusky who preceded her in de ath. She was a lifetime resident of Kaukauna and worked a number of yea rs at a local grocery store. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign W ars Auxiliary and St. Mary Catholic Church. Phil volunteered as a co ok at St. Mary's and also at the St. Paul Home gift shop.
She is survived by two sons: Gerald Skalmusky of Milwaukee and Ronald Skal musky of Shawano; four grandchildren: Tara Schuh of Kaukauna, Trisha Skalm usky of San Diego, California, Amy (Alsamo) Pontis of Brazil, and Todd (Ni kki) Skalmusky of Kaukauna; six great grandchildren: Alana and Kyle Sch uh and their father, Brian; Jonathan and Madison Skalmusky; Ashley and Dak ota Grissman; her brothers and sisters: Sister Jilene Giordana of Racin e, Mary Hubert of Kaukauna, Frank (Florence) Giordana of Kaukauna, James ( Sally) Giordana of Kenosha, Robert Giordana of Kaukauna, Richard (Sally) G iordana of Kaukauna, and Janice (Robert) Hammen of Kaukauna; three sisters -in-law: Lorraine Giordana, Dolores Giordana, and Donna Giordana, all of K aukauna. The funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 20 03 at ST MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Robe rt Udulutsch, OFM Cap. officiating. Friends may call at the church on Mond ay from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Holy Cro ss Cemetery.

Mary E. (Giordana) Hubert, age 95, life-long resident of Kaukauna, passed away at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna, on Friday, April 26, 2013. Mary was born on July 11, 1917, in Kaukauna, to the late Emil and Laura (Dioguardo) Giordana. She married Henry Hubert on October 30, 1952; he preceded her in death on January 11, 2003. Mary was employed at Thilmany Paper Mill for over 15 years and also was employed at Giordana Beer and Liquor in Kaukauna. She was a great bowler, enjoyed golfing, card playing and crossword puzzles. Mary was an avid Packers and Brewers fan and was well-known for her support of high school sports. Survivors include her children, Laurie Hubert, Fond du Lac, and Patty (Mike) Meyer, DePere; and the love of her life, her granddaughter, Ashleigh; her brothers, Frank (Red) Giordana, and Jimmy Giordana; her sister, Janice (Bob) Hammen; her sisters-in-law, Donna Giordana and Lorraine "Butter" Giordana and Sally Giordana. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Frank J Giordana, age 91, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Monday, March 7, 2016. He was born on April 30, 1924 to the late Emil and Laura (DiQuardo) Giordano. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1943. Frank married Florence "Red" Weigel on October 2, 1948 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Frank served in the Navy for three years during World War II. He worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper as an ink and plate coordinator for 37 years until he retired in 1986. Frank was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Thilmany.
Frank enjoyed playing and watching sports, and was inducted into the Kaukauna Athletic Hall of Fame in 1976. He attended the University Wisconsin Fox Valley Extension. Frank was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post No. 41, and the Moose Lodge #953. He and Red enjoyed their winters in Florida for 18 years, where they would golf, bowl, and play cards. They also enjoyed camping, traveling, and times up north with their children. Frank and Red were charter members of the Cabaret Dance Club. Because of his failing eyesight Frank always carried his binoculars to see sporting events, dance reviews, neighborhood projects, TV, and to help him bowl. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Frank is survived by his wife of 67 years, Red; his children: Jeane, John (Bonnie), Jay (Nancy), Jerry (special friend Tracy) Giordana; grandchildren: Angela, Uriah (Monique), Nick, Jon (Brooke) Giordana, Damon (Marie), Dean (Amy), Davis, Valerie (fiancé Brandon) Voights, Melanie (David) Balthazor, Corey (special friend Chelsey), Brent (special friend Skye), Antonio Giordana, and Michael Mylen; son-in-law: David Voights; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Janice (Bob) Hammen; sisters-in-law: LaDonna, Lorraine "Butter", Sally Giordana; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Sonar 4/c Joseph F. Giordana, Kaukauna, arrived home Wednesday to spend a 31-day leave. After two years and four months of active duty in the South Pacific. Giordana held a gunner's position aboard his ship and participated in five major campaigns. He now wears with his five battle stars, the presidential unit citation and a Philippine liberation, Asian-Pacific and American theater service ribbons. He enlisted in the Navy while still in high school and entered the service in October 1942.

James M. Giordana (86) of Kenosha, WI, passed away on March 31, 2015 at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna, WI.
Jim was born October 28, 1928 in Kaukauna, WI, the ninth of twelve children born to the late Emil and Laura (Diaguardo) Giordana. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Berlin, Germany from June 1949 to August of 1952.
Jim attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point from 1952 to 1954 and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh from 1954 to 1956 graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree with dual majors in English and History. He earned his master's degree in Library Science from Rosary College, River Forest, IL in 1970.
On July 23, 1953 he married Sally Ann Benson in Waukegan, IL and moved to Kenosha, WI in 1956. He taught and coached at Washington Junior High School from 1956 to 1964. From 1964 to 1990 he taught and coached at Mary D. Bradford High School.
Jim was a member of the National Education Association, the Wisconsin Education Association, the Wisconsin Retired Educators Association, the Danish Brotherhood Lodge, and a past member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed reading, all sports, and travel. He was a frustrated golfer who enjoyed being with his golf buddies.
He is survived by his daughter Jill (John) Harrison of Vail CO; his daughter Lisa (Martin Beckman) Giordana of Saint Johns, FL; and his son Patrick (Susan Hernke) Giordana of Hudson, WI. He also leaves behind his five grandchildren: Maddie Giordana, Misha Harrison, Jenna Harrison, Molly Beckman, and Jacob Giordana. He is also survived by his sister, Janice (Bob) Hammen; his brother, Frank (Red) Giordana; his sisters-in-law, Donna Giordana, Lorraine (Butter) Giordana, and Sally Giordana; and special friend, Jean Schumann, all of Kaukauna, WI. Robert C. Giordana, Kaukauna, age 78, passed away Tuesday October 28, 2008, with his family at his side after a brief battle with cancer. He was born December 26, 1929, in Kaukauna, the son of the late Emil and Laura Giordana. Bob graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1949. He excelled in football and was proud to play along side of his brothers for the Kaukauna Ghosts. He was employed by Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company for many years and also worked for John Hancock, where he received the "Salesman of the Year" award. On September 3, 1949, Bob married Pauline "Pope" Hanegraaf and enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage before she preceded him in death.
Bob is survived by his children and grandchildren: Bobbi Jo (Butch) Haen and their children, Renee (Clayton) and Holly (Jeffrey); Tony (Pat) Giordana and their children, Gina (Kevin), Jeremy (Jenna), and Travis; Dino Giordana; Pete Giordana and his children, Josh (Candy) and Kali; Missi (Rob) Giordana and their children, Akeem, Ezell Jr., Kellen and Andree. He is also blessed with five great-grandchildren. Bob was further survived by four brothers and sisters: Mary Hubert, Frank "Red" (Florence) Giordana, Jim Giordana, Janice (Bob) Hammen, Dolores "Blondie" Giordana, Donna Giordana, Sally Giordana and Lorraine "Butter" Giordana. He will also be missed by his brother and sisters-in-law, Deane Schultz, Germaine Nachel, Francis "Bud" (Betty) Hanegraaf, Joan Frassetto, Rita (Ken) Foster, and Mary Beth Vanderloo.
Bob was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Giordana, two nephews, Paul and Chuck Giordana, his brothers and sisters, Emil, Carl, Joe, Rich, Lucille, Sister Jilene, Philomene, and brother and sisters-in-law, Rudy Skalmusky, Henry Hubert and Sally Giordana. He was further preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Martin and Catherine Hanegraaf, and his five brothers-in-law, Bob Schultz, Bob Nachel, "Fras" Frassetto, Ken Sorenson and Jim Vander Loo.
The last 10 years Bob enjoyed delivering The Post-Crescent every day, through rain, sleet or snow. Although the highlight of his life was spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob's memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, with Fr. Charles Brooks officiating. He was born November 1 5, 1932, to the late Emil and Laura (Diquardo) Giordana, Sr., in Kaukaun a, where he was a resident all of his life. Rich served his country duri ng the Korean Conflict, with the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, Ri ch became the proprietor of the Modern Bar from 1957 to 1970. He was th en employed by Giddings & Lewis and then purchased Rich and Sally's Cov e, which he owned until 2000. Rich enjoyed Kaukauna sports as an umpir e, a participant and fan. He was a prideful Kaukauna Ghost Alumni. Rich w as an avid Packer fan, a season ticket holder and attended two Super Bowl s, in Oakland and Miami. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and growi ng his peppers and tomatoes. Voights, Kaukauna, age 60, after a courageous battle with cancer, Wendy came to peace with God at home with her loving family at her side in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, on Saturday, October 04, 2014. She was born March 2, 1954 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, daughter of Frank and Florence (Weigel) Giordana. Wendy graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1972.Wendy married David Dewayne Voights on March 23, 1974. They enjoyed 40 years of wedded bliss. Wendy was an active member of the Catholic Church at Saint Katharine Drexel Parish. Wendy enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren.

Thomas J. Giordana, "Tommy G", age 63, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. He was born on June 10, 1952 to Joseph and LaDonna (Steinbach) Giordana in Appleton. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1971 where he excelled in many sports. He married his high school sweetheart Peg Ott. Tommy attended Fox Valley Technical College for two years where he obtained an Associate's Degree in Business. He was the proud owner of Peg & Tommy G's bar for 35 years, during which time he made many lifelong friends. He was a board member of the Outagamie County Tavern League.
Anyone who knew Tommy, knew he was a people person who enjoyed talking about anything, except during the Packer games. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Lakewood where he would watch nature and take in its beauty around the campfire. Tommy would give the shirt off of his back to anyone who needed it and would always lend an ear. Family meant everything to Tommy, and he always went out of his way to make sure they were taken care of.
He is survived by his wife, Peg; his mother LaDonna Giordana; his brothers: Bill, Rodney (Jane), and Dan Giordana; his sisters: Cathy (Nick) Fink, Jodi (Ron) Holmgren, Beth (Bruce) Benotch, and Sue (Tim) Vanevenhoven; his mother-in-law Helen Krasniewski; brothers-in-law: Ron (Bonnie) Ott and Terry (Laura) Ott; sisters-in-law: Patti Christopherson, Kathy Weber, Tammy (Harv) Siebers and Karen Ott; god-children: Alex Benotch and Maggie Fink; his cats: Vinnie and Vino; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sandi "Beach" Giordana, age 60, passed away on April 3, 2016 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born to Emil and Lorraine (Morton) Giordana. Sandi was a free spirit which brought her to many places in the states. She loved camping, fishing, building and creating projects, gardening, and was an avid planter of trees. She loved her family dearly. Life for Sandi was all about spending time with family, friends and her grandchildren. Sandi spent her career as a certified nursing assistant. With having such a career, she was able to care for her grandmother Violet. She then worked at Maple Lane Shawano County Hospital and for the last ten years, she cared for her mother.
Sandi is survived by her mother, Lorraine (Butter), her sister Audra Giordana, sister-in-law Ellen Urbanovitch, her wife LeeAnn Laes, son James Masterman, daughter Crystal Mastermam, son-in-law Nicholas Popowich, step-son Matthew (Ciara) Kaercher, step-daughter Ashley Kaercher, grandchildren; Mason Masterman and Lexi Popowich, step-grandchildren; Chase, Mila and Sophia Kaercher and Hailey, Brady and Jaydon Collard, and nephew Jayson Giordana.

Dino Pacelli Giordana, 54, Kaukauna, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Matthews Adare Place I from Huntington's Disease. He was born Oct. 8, 1958, son of the late Bob and Pope (Hanegraaf) Giordana.
Dino graduated with the class of 1976 from Sacred Heart Center of Oneida. He lettered in basketball and track and participated in drama productions. He also attended St. Norbert College for two years.
We will always remember Dino for his "Free Biker Spirit", traveling across country on his Rat '79 Harley Davidson lowrider. At his side, on many rides, was Troy Giordana, his "riding" brother.
He will be missed by his sisters and brothers, Bobbi Jo (Butch Kloehn) Haen; Tony (Pat) Giordana; Pete Giordana and Missi (Demetrius) Giordana. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dino was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew, Ryan (Pete) Giordana.
Family and friends will gather to remember Dino and to celebrate his life on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Peg & Tommy G's, 107 W. Wisconsin Ave. in Kaukauna. An Honorary motorcycle ride will precede at 12:30 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish parking lot (St. Al's campus), 134 Ann St. Kaukauna, riding through Kaukauna and ending at Peg & Tommy G's.
