    Mrs. Hopfensperger, formerly of Buchanan Road, Kaukauna, died Saturda y, March 5, 1988, at the age of 96. The former Ann Weyenberg was born Sept ember 9, 1891, in the town of Buchanan. She and her late husband, Charle s, had operated meat markets in the Kaukauna and Little Chute area, and t he couple celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1961. She wasa member of S t. Aloysius Church of Kaukauna, and the National Catholic Society of Fores ters. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Connie Hopf ensperger, Little Chute, and Irvin and Bea Hopfensperger, Kaukauna,three d aughters and three sons-in-law, Dolores and Vance Garvey, Freedom; Berni ce and Don Van Able, Hollandtown, and Dorothy and Don Stuyvenberg, Kaukaun a; two sisters, Doris Vosters, Kalamazoo, Mi. and Gertrude Mollen, Appleto n; 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildr en. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charle s, in 1962. Three brothers, Francis, J.W., and Matthew Weyenberg; four sis ters, Mary Emmers, Nellie Nore, Rose Klein, and Elizabeth Verhoven. Funer al services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Chur ch Kaukauna with the Rev. John Hephner officiating. Burial will be in S t. Mary's Cemetery Kaukauna. Friends may call at the Greenwood-Fargo Fune ral Home, 500 Hendricks Ave., Kaukauna from 5-9 PM Monday and after 8: 30 AM Tuesday until the cortege leaves for the churce. A parish prayer se rvice will be held at 8 PM Monday. A memorial fund has been establish ed in her name.

Dolores was born in Little Chute on November 1, 1917, daug hter of the late Charles and Anne (Weyenberg) Hopfensperger. On Augu st 5, 1941, she married Vance “Bud” Garvey, Sr; he survives. For many year s, the couple was members of St. Nicholas Church in Freedom where Dolor es was active with the Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Lit tle Chute American Legion Post Auxiliary. In her younger years, she enjoy ed golfing and baking. She was born August 13th, 1922, in Ka ukauna, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Weyenberg) Hopfensperge r. Bernice married Donald Van Abel on June 28th, 1945, at St. Mary's Cath olic Church, Kaukauna. She was co-founder and partner in the present-d ay Van Abel's Supper Club, Holland town. She was a member of the St. Fran cis Catholic Church, Holland town. Bernice is survived by her husba nd of 45 years, Donald; four daughters and a son in law, Pat and Charlie L indberg, of High Cliff, Sue Van Abel, Katie Coenen and her three childr en Chris, Ann and Lee Coenen, all of Holland town, and Joan Van Abel, of K aukauna; two stepdaughters and sons in law; Diane and Paul Coenen, of Gree nville, and Julie and Jeff Baker, of San Diego California; three stepso ns and daughters in law, Don and Kathy Lindberg, of Little Chute, Chuck a nd Mary Lindberg, of Yorba Linda California; and David and Susan Lindberg h, of Anaheim Calif.; 11 step grandchildren; a brother and two siste rs in law, Irvin and Bea Hopfensperger, of Kaukauna, and Connie Hopfensper ger, of Little Chute; a sister and two brothers in law, Dolores and Bud Ga rvey, of Freedom and Don Stuyvenberg, of Little Chute. The funeral service will be at 11 :30 a.m., Tuesday, March 30th, 1993, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Holla nd town, with Father William Rickert officiating. Burial will be in the S t.     Vance Garvey, 66, Freedom, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011, following a brief illness. Vance was born in Appleton, on January 4, 1945, son of the late Vance and Delores (Hopfensperger) Garvey. He was a 1963 graduate of the Freedom High School and as a young man, he entered business with his father at Freedom Stove Company. He operated the company for about 20 years and then opened Garvey Sporting Goods and Discount, also in Freedom. For the past 17 years, he owned and operated VG Snacks, a vending route which he serviced every day. This past November, his health forced his retirement.
    One word could sum up Vance's life: SPORTS. He loved golf, fishing and coached basketball in Freedom for many years. He played softball and in his younger years, bowled as many as four nights each week. In 2002, he was recognized with the Freedom Friendship Award for his contributions to the Freedom community. After his heart surgery, he slowed down a bit and began to spend time following the sporting events of his grandchildren. Vance loved to play Bingo at St. Thomas More Church, as well as his Tuesday card club.
    Vance is survived by his wife, Pat Garvey, whom he married in 1997; and her children, Robert (Jackie) Breese, Appleton; and Coreen Breese, Freedom, and her special friend, Mark Lerquin. There are also five grandchildren, Ashley, Jessie and Ken Breese; and Aaron and Reeve Lambrecht; and a sister-in-law, Bernice (Jim) Van Asten, Appleton.
    Vance was preceded in death by his parents; by Pat's parents, Frank and Beatrice (Stoffel) Blazek; and by a sister-in-law, Joan Schuh.
    The funeral liturgy for Vance will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1825 N. McDonald Street in Appleton, with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at the church on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Visiting hours will conclude on Monday with a parish prayer service at 8 p.m.

    Lindberg, Patricia Ann "Pat" (nee Van Abel)
    Patricia Lindberg, 63, of Sherwood, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born on June 3, 1946, in Hollandtown, the daughter of the late Donald and Bernice (Hopfensperger) Van Abel. Pat married Charles Lindberg on January 4, 1988, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Hollandtown. Pat was the co-owner of Van Abel's Supper Club and many will remember her at the family restaurant with her cheerful greeting and smile. Pat was the organist at St. Francis for 40 years. She loved spending many hours with the men's choir and was very proud of being a part of it. Pat was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood. She graduated from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc. Pat enjoyed crocheting and her hybrid rose garden.
    Patricia is survived by her husband: Charles Lindberg; children: Donald (Kathy) Lindberg; Dianne (Paul) Coonen, Charles (Kathy) Lindberg Jr.; David (Susan) Lindberg and Julie (Jeffrey) Baker; thirteen grandchildren; a great-granddaughter: Ella Rose; sisters: Sue and Joan Van Abel and Katie Coenen; nephews: Chris and Lee Coenen; niece and goddaughter: Anne (Pete) Golden and their children Catelyn and Marcus; special cousins: Tim (Nancy), Mike (Diane), John (Joanne) and Patrick (Kristie) Van Abel and Jane (Groucho) Marx.
    She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Earl Coenen, Will, Duff and Jerry Van Abel.
    The funeral liturgy for Patricia will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL - ST. FRANCIS SITE, Hollandtown. Father Ken Frozena will be officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Pat's name.

    Sue Van Abel, age 68 of Hollandtown, passed away at her home on Friday morning, February 26, 2016. She was surrounded by those she loved. Sue was born on August 19, 1947, daughter of the late Donald and Bernice (Hopfensperger) Van Abel. She was a graduate of Kaukauna High School and the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Sue loved to travel in her younger days and there was no main road for her. Sue was also an integral part of carrying on the family business.
    She is survived by two sisters: Katie Coenen and Joan Van Abel; two nephews and a niece: Christopher (fiancée Sara Baciu) Coenen, Ann (Peter) Golden, and Lee Coenen; the bright lights of her life, a great-niece Catelyn Golden; a great-nephew Marcus Golden; a brother-in-law: Charlie Lindberg; and her cousins and partners: Tim (Nancy) Van Abel, Jane (Gary) Marx, Mike (Diane) Van Abel, John "Gus" (JoAnn) Van Abel, and Patrick (Kristie) Van Abel along with many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Pat Lindberg, a cousin Jerry Van Abel, a brother-in-law Earl Coenen, and her aunt and uncle, Will and Duff Van Abel.
    The family would like to thank Sue's doctors, great neighbors Floyd and Diane Kempen, Golden Touch Homecare, Vivian Domask, Debbie Laabs, and the incomparable Chris Neumeyer for their loving care and friendship. The family also would like to thank the staff of Van Abel's of Hollandtown for their care and support.

    Little Chute - Gary J. Van De Leygraaf, age 55, of Little Chute, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a snowmobile accident on Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was born on April 10, 1962, son of Carol (Hopfensperger) Howen and the late Bob Van De Leygraaf. On May 24, 1985, Gary married Lisa Sonderegger, and together they have shared a wonderful 33 years marriage. They were true soulmates. The love they had for one another was never ending, and they held hands each night before falling asleep.
    Gary was a true family man, doing everything he could for his wife and children. He was a great dad. Many memories were made hunting with Tyler and fishing with Katelyn. He taught them many good values, including honesty, good work ethic and always have a little fun.
    Gary was very proud of the work he did as a maintenance man for Fox Valley Technical College. He took a lot of pride in his work, his yard, and his family. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, nature, spending time up north, EAA, his motorcycle, corvette and snowmobile. His unique sense of humor will be truly missed.
