    Irene (Ma) Van Lanen, 85, New Franken, went to meet the Lord on April 6, 2008, after a short illness. She was born in Tonet May 28, 1922, to the late Eli and Margaret (Denis) Vanden Houten. On April 18, 1942, she married the late Orville H. Van Lanen. Together they farmed for many years and sold vegetables at the Farmer's Market in Green Bay. During her retirement years, she moved to Morraine Ridge where she made many new friends. Irene enjoyed playing cards and Bingo and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching All-Star Wrestling with her grandchildren and great grandchildren every Monday night.
    Survivors include eight children, Milton (Jean) Van Lanen, Green Bay; Barbara (Peter) Beyer, New Franken; Shirley Huxford, Green Bay; Sandie (Paul) Dorner, Luxemburg; David Van Lanen, Green Bay; Michael (Patti) Van Lanen, New Franken; Rodney (special friend Mary) Van Lanen, Green Bay; and Loretta (Alvin) Beyer, New Franken. Irene was also blessed with 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is further survived by one brother-in-law, Jack Burkle; and two sisters-in-law, Ella and Marie Vanden Houten.
    Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; one son, Thomas; one infant daughter, Theresa; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Clarence De Jardin; two brothers, Alvin and Emerson Vanden Houten; mother and father-in-law, Martin and Antoinette Van Lanen; sisters-in-law, Ella Piton; Sarah VandenHoven; Gen Van Lanen; and Verna Burckle; brothers-in-law, Cyrus Piton; Edmund VandenHoven; and Rodney and Donald Van Lanen.
    Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3009 Bay Settlement Road, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Tom Hagendorf, O. Praem., officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.

    Obituary:
    Rodney "Pudge" Van Lanen, 55, a Green Bay resident, died unexpectedly Monday, November 9, 2015, at a local hospital. He was born January 26, 1960, in Green Bay to the late Orville and Irene (VandenHouten) Van Lanen. Pudge attended Preble High School, graduating in 1978. He was employed by DeGroot Construction from 1978 until 1994. Pudge was then employed by the Green Bay Water Utility until his retirement this past year. He also owned and operated Affordable Lawn Care, as well as an antique dealer. Pudge was a longtime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He will always be remembered as a hardworking, loving father and grandfather.
    He is survived by two daughters, Vanessa Van Lanen and Chantel Van Lanen, both of Green Bay; their mother, Sandra Van Lanen, Florida; He was blessed with two granddaughters, Kaylee Jones and Aleigha Rathbun, who were the apples of his eyes; seven siblings, Milton (Jean) Van Lanen, Barbara (Peter) Beyer, Shirley Huxford, all of Green Bay; Sandie (Paul) Dorner, Luxemburg; David Van Lanen, Green Bay; Michael (Patti) Van Lanen, New Franken; Loretta (Alvin) Beyer, New Franken; his Godfather and Uncle, John Burckle, Wausau; his fiancee, Judi Pekarek, Green Bay; nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Van Lanen, an infant sister, Theresa; his fiancée, Mary Porod, many aunts and uncles.
    Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will continue on Friday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 743 S. Monroe Ave., after 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Paul Schleis officiating. In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial fund had been established.
