MRS ANNA DIES, LIFELONG BERLIN RESIDENT, DEAD
Belived Victim of Apoplexy Early Today as She Slept, Rites Not Arranged
Mrs. Anna Dies, 66, passed away about 7:30 a.m. today in her sleep at her home, 434 Adams Avenue. The cause of death is believed to have been apoplexy.
Mrs. Dies body was found by Miss Helen Allinson, a roomer about 9a.m.. When she failed to get up, Miss Allinson went to Mrs.Dies room and found she had passed on.
She was in her usual health last evening, except for a slight cold, not considered serious. She retired at the usual hour.
Three Sons Survive
Mrs. Dies is survived by three sons, Bert McCallum, GreenBay; Roy McCallum, Appleton; and Donald McCallum, GreenLake; a sister Mrs. Grant Kinrade; two brothers, Bert Huntsinger, Fisk, and Elmer Huntsinger, Ontario,Ore.; by eight grandchildren and several step-children.
Anna Huntsinger was born on a farm in Sacramento on Sept.6,1867. She was the daughterr of Albert and Susan Huntsinger, who came to Wisconsin from New York state. Anna grew to womanhood here.
She was united in marriage of Archie McCallum when she was 19 years of age. The couple resided in Berlin except for a few months in the east and for a while in Ripon. Mr. McCallum preceded her in death 34 years ago.
Wed City Treasurer
She was wed to Charles Dies, former city treasurer in 1912. Mr.Dies succumbed when city treasurer seven years ago. The widow continued to occupy her own home on Adams avenue sincee that time.
Mrs. Dies was active in the local Rebekah lodge, being a Past Noble Grand. She also was a member of the Mystic Workers and a former member of the Priscilla Society of the Methodist Episcopal church, in which she held membership.
Funerla services have not been arranged, pending the arrival of her sons. The body rests at the new Talbot Funeral home,Adams avenue and E.Ceresco street.

Donald A. McCallum, 77, a Dodge County farmer, died Wednesday afternoon at Beaver Dam Care Center where he resided for the last seven years. He was born Oct. 6, 1898, in Berlin, a son of Archibald andAnna Huntsinger McCallum . He married Edna Davis on Aug.31, 1921, at Ring,Wis. surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edgar ( Dorothy) Wetzel of Route1, Waupun. and Mr s . James (Betty) Reilly of South Milwaukee; two sons, Archie of Oregon, Wis. and Roy of Route 1 , Horicon; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife , a daughter and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kohls Co. Funeral Home, Waupun . The Rev . George Woldseth will officate and burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery at Ring, Wis.
Vistitation for Mr. McCallum will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Genealogy-Family History Book Award Winner Announced
Congratulations to the 2009 WHS/WSGS Genealogy-Family History Book
Award winner, John D. McCallum of Mahtomedi, Minnesota, for his book
The Clan McCallum, Book 5 (The Kinder Huntsinger), Book 6 (Private
Stephen Thompson, Soldier of the Revolutionary War), Book 7 (The
Kinder of Albert Huntsinger and Susanna Eastman)! The award winner is,
"three volumes of a massive 18-volume genealogy of the author's
family, these volumes are chiefly an extensive account (documented and
heavily illustrated) of the Huntsinger family, descendants of an
18th-century New York State German immigrant, many of whom came to
central Wisconsin in the mid 19th century."

While I may be getting the award, please remember that you also had a
played a role in seeing this project get to this point, it's something
I will not forget, and your help is appreciated beyond measure.
In case your wondering, here's the current work in progress:
Book #19 is the Kinder Esch / Clan Talbot, which concerns mostly the
Chicago area,
but does touch on the "Ice Harvesting" that was done on Lake Monona in
Madison in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The story on Edward
Talbot is a great read.

( This starts the series on my brother-in-law's family)
Book #20 is the Kinder Leonard, in the DeForest/Windsor area
Book #21 is the Clan Kirwin in the Portage/Columbia Co. area
Book #22 is the Clan Prescott, from Canada to Portage/Columbia Co. area.
Book #23 ( but will probably extend into several volumes) is the
Famille Pauquette .. specifically on Pierre Pauquette (1800-1836).
Between dealing with French Canadians fur traders and the Ho-Chuck
Nation, plus a well known historical figure, this is going to be a
long and difficult project, and it will be a cooperative project with
Linda King.

McCallum, Donald R. > OREGON - Donald R.McCallum, passed from this world on Saturday, June 4 ,2005, at theDon and Marilyn Andersonn Hospice Care Center. He was born onJuly 21,1930,to Roy and Cyrilla (Gerrits) McCallum in Appleton, Wis.He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during theKorean War. After attending the University of Wisconsin Extension in Menas ha, he came toMadison, graduating from the UW-Madison in 1957 and the UW Law School in 1 960.Becoming Deputy District Attorney under District Attorneys William Byrne a nd Michael Torphy,he engaged in criminal prosecution. He moved on to private practice a nd in his retirement did
medical malpractice mediation for the Supreme Court.Don especially enjoyed hunting,fishing and golfing over the years with h is family and friendsand tookspecial delight in working on his Town of Rutland property.Don is survived by his wife, Diane; sons, Douglas (Susan) and Michael; gra nddaughter,
