    Obituary:
    Conrad Grishaber, 86. of 1330 E. South River St., died unexpectedly at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Born May 23. 1884 in Appleton. he had been a tailor and grocer for 40 years before his retirement in 1950. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Survivors are the widow. Theresa; six sons. Paul, Leo, Harold, Arnold, Richard and Thomas, all of Appleton: six daughters. Mrs. John Michalkiewicz of Menasha, Mrs. Jerome Welhouse of Kaukauna, Mrs. Bernard Davidson of Appleton, Mrs. Nicholas Gaffney of Kimberly, Sister Virginia, SSND, of Milwaukee and Mrs. Jack Wingrove of Appleton; 46 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today until the time of the service. A Scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. today.

    Mary A. Michalkiewicz, Menasha, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Prairie Home Elder Services. She was born on July 18, 1917, in Appleton, daughter of the late Conrad and Theresa (Foster) Grishaber. Mary was united in marriage to John G. Michalkiewicz on July 15, 1941, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton; he preceded her in death on May 10, 2002, after 60 years of marriage. Mary enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and playing cards. She will always be remembered for her meatloaf, dumplings, and her Sunday chicken dinners.
    Mary loved spending time with her family and will be missed by her children: George Michalkiewicz, Ruth Ann (Edward) Schroeder, Kathleen (Leon) Koerner, Thomas (Sally) Michalkiewicz, John (Paula) Michalkiewicz, Judi (Michael) McDowell, David (Linda) Michalkiewicz; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters: Margaret Wellhouse, Gertie Gaffney, Louise Davidson, Virginia Grishaber, Bette Wingrove; a brother, Tom (Corrine) Grishaber; sisters-in-law: Margaret Grishaber, Dorothy Grishaber; brother-in-law: Sylvester (Jane) Michalkiewicz; sisters-in-law, Marie Michalkiewicz, Bernice Kleinhans; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

    Margaret Amelia Rose Welhouse age 96, formerly of Kaukauna passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Prairie Homes Elder Services in Menasha surrounded by her loving family. God saw that she was tired so he wrapped his arms around her and took her to her heavenly home. She was born on August 7, 1918 in Appleton, daughter of the late Conrad and Theresa (Forster) Grishaber. Margaret was united in marriage to Jerome H. Welhouse, the love of her life, on May 14, 1940 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton and was happily married for 67 years. Margaret was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and sister-in-law. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Kaukauna. She enjoyed doing things for her family and the monthly get togethers with her sisters. They both enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Bear Lake, just outside of Lakewood, and going to the Casino. Margaret loved sitting on the dock listening to the Loons. She was a terrific homemaker, as you can still smell the homemade bread baking in her kitchen.
    Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her six children: David (Kathy) Welhouse of Kaukauna, Donald (Audrey) Welhouse of Kaukauna, Janet (Gary) Schwalenberg of Kaukauna, Dennis Welhouse of Aurora, Ohio, Jerry (Mary Beth) Welhouse of Sherwood and Gregory (Lori) Welhouse of Kaukauna; 17 grandchildren: Mark, Paul (Diane) and Chad (Shelly) Welhouse; Steve (Lisa) Thompson-Welhouse and Terri (Frank) Welhouse-Mehring; Lori, Daniel, Sheri and Jennifer Schwalenberg: Joe, Matt (Heather), Patti (Matthew) McKendry and Maggie (Jeremy) Lee: Eric (Mindy), Adam (Jennifer) and Alex Welhouse; Alicia Welhouse. 24 great-grandchildren: Kevin, Carrisa, Kyle, and Cassidy Welhouse, Hannah Beckwith and Sophie Beckwith; Grace, James, June, Elena, Blake, Evelyn, Truett, Breanna, Colton, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn and James Welhouse; Henry Welhouse-Mehring; Alexis Schwalenberg; Julie, Denise, Marian and Robbie Lee.

    Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerome in 2008, sisters: Mary (John) Michalkiewicz and Louise "Tudy" (Ben) Davidson; brothers: Leo, Arnold (Margaret), Paul (Loretta), Robert, Daniel, Harold (Betty) and Richard (Gertie) Grishaber; sisters-in-law: Agnes (James) Sanders and Alice (Donald) Garrigan; brothers-in-law: Nicholas Gaffney, Jack Wingrove, Harold (Rose) Welhouse, James (Rosemary) Welhouse and Eugene Welhouse and granddaughter, Kathleen "Katie" Welhouse and several nieces and nephews.
    The funeral liturgy for Margaret will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH, ST. ALOYSIUS CHURCH, 2401 Main Avenue in Kaukauna with Father Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church from 10:00 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being established in her name.     Margaret's family would like to give a very special "Thank You" to all of the wonderful people in the House of Joy at Prairie Homes Elder Services in Menasha for the loving care they gave her along with the many laughs they had together. Her family knew from getting to know all of them that Mom was being well taken care of. Her family is also very grateful to all of her doctors that cared so much, especially, Dr. Gregory Johnson. A heartfelt thank you to every one at ThedaCare At Home and Generation Hospice, for the excellent caring compassion shown to our family.

    Louise, age 86, of Appleton, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born October 17, 1924, in Appleton, daughter of the late Conrad and Theresa Grishaber. She married Bernard Davidson, January 30, 1945, sharing 37 years together before his death July 6, 1982. Louise was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed lunches with the Fourth Ward Girls, caring for her cat, Missy and dog, Heidi and feeding the birds.
    Louise is survived by: two daughters: Linda Davidson, Appleton and Gail Davidson, Glendale; three sons and a daughter-in-law: Jerald Davidson, Ripon; Daniel (Mary Simmons) Davidson, Milwaukee; William and Lynn Davidson, Appleton; a brother and sister-in-law: Thomas and Corrine Grishaber, Combined Locks; four sisters: Elizabeth Wingrove, Appleton; Margaret Welhouse, Kaukauna; Gertrude Gaffney, Kimberly and Virginia Grishaber, Milwaukee; two grand daughters: Katherine and Margaret; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday February 21, 2011, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E. Lourdes Dr. with Rev Donald Zulegar officiating.     Appleton, Wisconsin - Elizabeth "Bette" (Grishaber) Wingrove, age 86, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at her home on June 20, 2018. She was born in Appleton on July 11, 1931 to the late Conrad and Theresa (Forster) Grishaber. She was united in marriage to the late John L. Wingrove on September 25, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bette and Jack were married for 45 years and parishioners of Sacred Heart Church.
    Bette was zealous about traveling with her husband for weekend getaways and exciting trips to Las Vegas. During her many years, Bette enjoyed her dogs Lassie, Mitzi and Katie as faithful companions. She was an active gardener, Brewers fan and was known as a wonderful cook. Bette received tremendous joy observing the beauty of nature during her daily walks and country drives. Bette was especially passionate about the unborn children stemming from her work experience as a pediatric nurse in her early twenties at St. Vincent's Infant & Maternity Hospital in Chicago.
    Bette is survived by her son, Marty of Sun Prairie; 3 wonderful grandchildren, of whom she was especially proud, Matt ( Jessa ) of McFarland, Mitch ( Lauren ) of Elkton, MD and Mickey (Channele) of Campton, NH; seven great grandchildren, Christian, Faith, Corban, Jackson, Roman, Grace & Willow; siblings, Thomas (Corrine) Grishaber of Appleton, Gertrude Gaffney of Kimberly and Virginia Grishaber of Milwaukee; in-laws, Connie Stelow of Syracuse, NY and Dorothy Grishaber of Appleton; many nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
    Elizabeth was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca.

    George J. Michalkiewicz, age 72, of Menasha, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Fox River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on June 30, 1942, in Appleton, the son of the late John and Mary (Grishaber) Michalkiewicz. George's employment began at James River, formerly American Can and he retired from Jefferson Smurfit-Stone in Pacific, Missouri. He coached basketball for 25 years at St. John Catholic School in Menasha. George was an avid Packer fan and fisherman, and he looked forward to his fishing trips to Canada. Over the years camping, golfing, and gardening were a few of his interests.
    George is survived by his children Susan and Dan Stanczak of Menasha, and their children Tanya Belknap, Heather and Amber Stanczak; Daniel and Patricia Michalkiewicz of Appleton, and their children Marissa and Mason Michalkiewicz; and Anthony Michalkiewicz and Kim Edens of Rochester, Minnesota; siblings Ruth Ann (Edward) Schroeder, Kathleen (Leon) Koerner, Thomas (Sally) Michalkiewicz, John Michalkiewicz, Judi (Michael) McDowell, and David (Linda) Michalkiewicz. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. George was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Paula Michalkiewicz.
    The memorial service for George will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, July 21, 2014 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 1592 Oneida Street in Menasha. Deacon Rick Dvorak will be officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service.     Linda G. Davidson, age 60, passed away Sunday, October 21, at Province Terrace Villas in Appleton. She was born March 17, 1952, in Appleton, the daughter of the late Bernard and Louise Davidson.
    Possessed of a remarkable beauty, preternatural even, Linda also enjoyed a personality that could turn dark times into morning sunshine and a wit that could spark easy laughter or send fools off licking their wounds. Refined, but direct and all-too-honest when she wanted to be, to converse with her was, depending on her judgment of you, to dance on hot coals, requiring an alertness and wariness to keep from getting singed.
    Yet she also possessed the most acute sensitivities for others, especially those in some way burdened by life's great weights. She was attuned to the slightest change in mood or tone, the subtlest gesture and choice of words, and was ever ready to join in another's sorrow and pain, consoling and weeping.
    It was somehow natural that her taste in outward things should nearly match her spiritual qualities and beautiful countenance. Classic and elegant with dabs of daring defined her wardrobe. She understood colors, design and fashion generally. But in a way all that was unimportant. She has reached that point of beauty which does not admit being enhanced by adornments. Beauty here was transferred from her to that which was supposed to adorn.
    Among her other virtues, she was intelligent and often selfless. She had returned from California to care for her father. It is these qualities, these spiritual things, that were her great merit, and it is these remembrances of her that we, her family, celebrate.
    Linda is survived by three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Jerald Davidson, Ripon; Daniel (Mary Simmons) Davidson, Milwaukee; and William (Lynn) Davidson, Appleton; one sister, Gail Davidson, Glendale, Wisconsin; and two nieces: Katherine Davidson Allan, Irmo, South Carolina; and Margaret Davidson Allan, Glendale; five aunts, Margaret Welhouse, Appleton; Gertrude Gaffney, Kimberly; Virginia Grishaber, Milwaukee; Elizabeth Wingove, Appleton; and Lucille Davidson, Neenah; and one uncle, Thomas (Corinne) Grishaber, Combined Locks; and many cousins.
    She was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph, cousins Kenneth Grishaber and Patricia Grishaber Seidl, her husband Gary and his parents Roger and Faye Lillge.
    Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E. Lourdes Dr. with the Rev. Donald Zuleger officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
