    Beckman, Katherine N. and Beckman, Norman J. Appleton
    Katherine M. Beckman, age 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Friday, February 20, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Katherine was born June 5, 1924, in Waverly, OH, to the late James H. and Marie (Sohn) Moore. She was united in marriage to Norman Beckman in Appleton, Wisconsin, on July 12, 1952.
    Katherine attended Antioch College in Ohio, and received her Bachelor of Science from Ohio State University. She furthered her education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison receiving her Masters in Botany. Katherine was an active and faithful member of the Freedom Moravian Church. She was lovingly devoted to her family and generously shared her talents and education through endless volunteer work.
    We will remember her for her loving and humble nature, her generosity and her gift of always seeing the best in everyone.
    Norman J. Beckman, age 85, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his family, Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born on March 8, 1924, to the late John F. and Ella (Hintz) Beckman in Appleton, WI.
    Norman received his Bachelor of Science, graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. He furthered his education at Williams College, MA, where he received his Masters in Physics. Norman was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Air Corps while stationed in Greenland. Norman had a dedicated career as a research scientist in the paper industry for thirty-five years.
    Music was an integral part of Norman's life. He shared his talents, managing and playing with the Geriatric Jazz band for over twenty-five years. Norman was dedicated to his church and the Christian faith.
    We will remember his integrity, generosity, knowledge and keen sense of humor with which he recounted stories and memories.
    Survivors include children: Heidi ( Michael) Stofferahn, Cedarburg WI; Maude Dineen, St. Paul, MN; Carrie Beckman, Minneapolis, MN; Rachel (Jeff) Lapnow, Wilton, CT; Melanie Beckman, Appleton WI, Paula (Dave) Martin, Savage, MN; nine grandchildren: Tanner, Haley, Matthew, Katherine, Cody, Taylor, J.T., Jackson and Cameren.
    Katherine is further survived by her sisters: Bessie D. Mercer and Louise M. Murray. She was preceded in death by her brother, James H. Moore Jr.
    Norman was preceded in death by brothers: Harold and Vernon; and sisters: Viola and Bernice.
    They are further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
    Together Norman and Katherine shared a love of family, a reverence for nature and all living things, a lifelong love of learning, and genuine concern for others. Their legacy will be carried on through the generations.
    Friends may call at Freedom Moravian Church, W3457 Center Valley Road, on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. until time of service. A Memorial service celebrating both their lives follows at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jason Anderson officiating. A private Interment will be held at the Seymour City Cemetery.     A special thank you for the exceptional care given to Katherine and Norman by the doctors, chaplains, and staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Freedom Moravian Church, The Salvation Army, or Heckrodt Wetland Reserve.
