    Obituary:
Norbert (Nubs) John Schoettler, age 75, passed into the arms of the Lord in his home on Tuesday, July 12th, as his wife, children, and grandchildren let go of his hands, and let him slip peacefully into his new life.
Norbert was born January 13th, 1941 in Appleton, WI to the late Elmer and Marie (Spreeman) Schoettler. On June 30th, 1962 he was wed to Mary Ellen Lutz where they built a loving home full of playfulness, laughter, patience, and kindness for the next 54 years. Norbert worked at Riverside Papers (Kerwin Papers) as an expert pipefitter until retiring in 2002.
Nubs loved to deer hunt and fish. Many years he came home after the season with large bucks and sheer bliss on his face - as he had had the time of his life. He loved the north-woods and the wildlife that called it home - especially wolves and eagles. He felt God's spirit at the heart of the earth and would sit quietly for hours enjoying the peace of nature.
Nubs loved listening to Elvis, watching college football, basketball, and when the Green Bay Packers won! He enjoyed playing cards and a good ol' game of sheepshead - just so long as you "play your cards!" with a fist on the table.
Nubs is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mary, Children: Steve (Tammy), Lynda (Bruce Schroeder), Cynthia (Brian Klitzke), 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister Adaline Kramer, Brothers Carl (Pat), Bernie (Helen) and John (Terri).
He is preceded in death by his daughter MaryAnn, parents Elmer and Marie Schoettler, his sister Marion "Tootsie" Verstegen, and daughter-in-law Beth Schoettler.
The family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals and Heartland Hospice Care. A special thanks to Appleton Alliance Church and to all those for their prayers and support. A private service is being held by the family. A celebration of life for Nubs will take place in the fall, before the big rut. He was loved and will be missed by many because of his simple, humble outlook on life.
