    Biography:
In November 1883, Rev. Albert Thomas Reininger became the pastor of our parish. He was born on Dec. 21, 1850, at Ulm, Baden, Germany, coming to America in 1969. He entered St. Lawrence College Mt. Calvary, in 1872. He finished his studies at St. Francis Seminary, Sorrows, Coller, Wis. and Fredonia, Wis. before coming to Charlesburg. After leaving Charlesburg he served at St. Norbert's Roxbury and at St. Lawrence, Wis. He became chaplain of St. Mary's Hospital Racine, in 1915. After 19 years he retired from the chaplaincy but remained at the hospital to make his home there. He died there on Feb. 16, 1941 at the age of 90. He lies buried at Chilton. He was pastor of our parish from Nov. 1883 to Oct. 1888. Noteworthy in his pastorate is the installation of the present church bells. The small, ill voiced bell then still in use, had long lost its appeal. On October 23, 1884,the present bells were purchased from the Buckey Bell Foundry of Cincinnati, Ohio, at a cost of $1140. The even was the three hundreth anniversary of the death of St. Carl Borromeo - hence three bells for the three centuries. The bells bear the names of Carl, Joseph and Mary. They are tuned to the keys of E, F sharp and B, together striking a most harmonious chord. For nearly sixty years these beautiful bells have sent their music over the countryside, proclaiming the age old faith and its obligations to every parishioner. With their ringing much of the history of our church and parish re-echoes within us.

St. Martin Catholic Church was a mission church serviced by Rev, Reininger bet 1883-1889

Sylvia Margaret Lamm, 88, of Appleton, died peacefully on March 12, 2016 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna after a courageous three-year battle with melanoma.
