    Doberstein, Helen nee Stroebe
    Helen (Stroebe) Doberstein, 95, Appleton, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. Helen was born on Dec. 25, 1913, to the late Frank and Anna (Nelson) Stroebe on Stroebe's Island. On May 22, 1935, she married Clarence Doberstein and together they owned and operated many supper clubs from the Weather Cock Supper Club in the state of New York, to the River Resort in Fremont, and, most recently, the Stroebe Island Haven Supper Club from 1947 until 1969. Helen was also a real estate broker in the Fox Valley and was a longtime member of the women's group of the Appleton Elks Club. She also liked to design houses.
    Helen is survived by her children, Carol Bunnell, Dale; Joan (Daniel) Knaack, Appleton; grandchildren, Dan (Debbie) Knaack, Jr., Neenah; Kent (Joanne) Knaack, Greenville; Beth Ann (Dan) Jurgenson, Town of Clayton; Blake (Brenda) Barrett, Waupaca; Lori (AJ) Trantor, Dale; and Sheli Barrett, Appleton; 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
    Helen was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters.
    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior St., with Pastor Stephen Savides officiating. Entombment will be in the Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Funeral Home.
    The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Baum and Dr. Mounajjed and the fourth floor staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

    Obituary:
    Dan D. Knaack, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 17, 2011, at Theda Clark Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born on Jan. 22, 1958, in Appleton, the son of Daniel and Joan (Doberstein) Knaack. On Dec. 14, 1999, he married Debra Lynn Retzlaff in Las Vegas. Dan was a technician since age 14 and part-owner of his family's business, Neenah Main Auto Body. Dan, A.K.A. "Julio," as his friends would call him, was a hard-working man who enjoyed everything to do with automobiles, including customizing vehicles, "Mr. Fixit" was always willing to help his friends with their car troubles, he loved NASCAR racing, and even dreamed of one day owning a junk yard. Above all though, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, and he loved his cats.
    He will be sadly missed by his wife, Debra; his daughter, Kelly (Fiance Nick Giesen) Knaack, Bear Creek; son, Lucas (girlfriend Michelle Baumann) Knaack, Appleton; stepsons, Nathan (girlfriend Jessie Mueller) Kerrigan, Neenah; Mac Kosmerchock, Neenah; his parents, Daniel and Joan Knaack, Neenah; grandchildren, Noah Kolda, Brynn and Gage Giesen, Zeke Knaack; mother-in-law, Kathy Rose; sister, Beth (Dan) Jurgenson, Neenah; brother, Kent (Joann) Knaack, Greenville; sister-in-law, Renee (Tom) Mitchell, Palm Springs, Calif.; brother-in-law, Robert (Heidi) Retzlaff, Brookfield; aunts and uncles, Carol Brunell, Dale; Charles and Bernie Knaack, Winchester; Richard I. and Susan Knaack, Milwaukee area; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Hayley; his father-in-law, Robert Retzlaff; stepfather-in-law, Richard Rose; sister-in-law, Robin Hawley; grandparents, Raymond and Eva Knaack, Clarence and Helen Doberstein; as well as some aunts and uncles.
    The Memorial Service for Dan will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at 6 p.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the hour of service.
