    Biography:
    CHARLES H. KESTING, a representative citizen and good, practical farmer of Grand Chute township, Outagamie county, who, is engaged in general farming and dairying, was born in Troy, New York, April 15, 1854, and is a son of Charles and Katharine (Neff) Kesting, the former of whom was born in Wittenberg, Germany, March 14, 1826, and the latter at the same place, July 27, 1827. Charles Kesting followed the trade of shoemaker in Germany until coming to the United States in 1851, and after locating at Troy, New, York, continued that business for about three years. At the end of this time he came to Appleton, Wisconsin, where he followed his trade for about five years, and then bought a farm in Center township, which was partly cleared. After three years he sold his land and moved into the city of Appleton for one year, but eventually went back to farming, purchasing the farm which is now being operated by Charles H. Kesting, and there he continued to live until his death in 1897. His widow, who survives him, makes her home with her son. They had a family of seven children, as follows: Charles H., two who died in infancy, Rosa, who married Henry Ebner, a resident of Michigan; Mary, who married Dell Collar, residing in Hortonville; Lottie, the wife of Charles Palmer of Elcho, Wisconsin, and Clara, who is deceased. Charles H. Kesting attended the schools of Appleton, and worked on the home farm for his father until his marriage, at which time he bought the old homestead, on which he has operated ever since. He has eighty acres in a high state of cultivation, and is carrying on general farming and dairying. Mr. Kesting was married August 17, 1885, to Ida Beckenstrader, who was born in Appleton, October 31, 1862, daughter of Joseph and Frederica (Zinn) Beckenstrader, natives of Germany, where they were born in 1826 and 1839, respectively. On locating in Appleton, Mr. Beckenstrader followed the trade of cabinetmaker for several years, and then bought a farm in Osborn township, which he continued to operate until his death in 1902, after which his widow moved to Appleton, where she still resides. They were the parents of seven children: Mrs. Kesting, Olga, Arthur, Laura and Bertha, who are all deceased, except the first named; Herman, who is residing in the State of Maryland, and Hattie, who married Daniel Van Oyen, of Appleton. Mr. and Mrs. Kesting have had five children: Adella, born August 9, 1886; Fred, born December 9, 1888; Herman, born April 21, 1893; Leo, born January 26, 1896, and Lillie, born May 15, 1902. Mr. Kesting is not connected with any religious organization. In political matters he is a Republican.

    Ira Collar, Appleton, age 78, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 07, 2004 at his home. He was born on May 12, 1926 in Hortonville the son of the late Arthur and Gladys (Hackett) Collar. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart. After Ira returned from the service he pursued a lifetime career in Automobile Sales and still loved the business until he passed away. Ira was an avid golfer, football fan, traveler, music lover, and gardener. Later in his life, he learned to appreciate little children who were very important to him.
    He is survived by his sons: Ira "Bud" Jr. (Kathy) Collar of Appleton, Joseph (Mary) Collar of Menasha, Charles (Judith) Collar of Appleton, Andrew (Mary) Collar of Appleton, Dominic (Nancy) Collar of Menasha, and David (special friend Kim Koehler) Collar of Appleton, his grandchildren: Christopher Collar, Mollie Collar, Aaron (Amy) Collar, Mandi Collar, Kate Collar, Nicholas Collar, and Jessica Collar, Brian, Rebecca, and Matthew Collar; and his great grandson Sam Collar; and his brother Thomas (Audrey) Collar; and his former wife Bonnie Collar, and his very special friend with whom he spent the last years of his life, Patty Larson and her family Kirsten (Dave) Owens and their son Kieran; Erica (Andy) Smith and their children Harrison and Lilly; and Tim Larson.
    He was preceded in death by a son Christopher, his brothers and sisters: Morris , Everett, Dean, Paul, John, and Alice Borne.
    A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, July 9, 2004 at 7 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church, on Ballard Road and Broadway Drive with the Rev. David Lyle officiating. Friends may call at the Church on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.

    Judith Ann "Judy" Gregory, age 60, of Greenville, died on Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Appleton Medical Center in the arms of her devoted husband, with her family at her side. Judy was born on November 26, 1946, in Hortonville to the late Dean and Doris (Burton) Collar. She married Gordon Gregory on August 6, 1966, in Appleton. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was well-known for being selfless, always putting others first. Judy truly enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting dolls, reading, fishing, board games, and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. Baking and cooking for family members and friends was a joy for Judy. Judy was employed at BankOne-Appleton for over 22 years and most recently at Datamatic. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Gordon; her children: Amy (Jim) Toporski and their children, Zachary, Emily and Erin, of Darboy; Michael (Karen) Gregory, and their son Jacob Van Domelen, of Appleton; and Jennifer (Kevin) Theyel and their children, Josh, Kelsey and Kaitlyn, of Little Chute; her sisters: Barbara (Dennis) Duchow, New Holstein; and Debbie (John) Kemkes, Town of Menasha; and her brothers: Michael (Kaye) Collar, Menasha; and Patrick (Cheryl) Collar, Neenah; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, Appleton, with Fr. Tom Ferrell officiating.     Andrew G. Collar, age 60 of Appleton, passed away late Thursday, October 15, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. He was born October 4, 1955 to Paulene "Bonnie" and Ira Collar. On September 26, 1980, he married Mary Korinek.
    An avid outdoorsman, Andy loved fishing off the end of his dock and his hunting trips to Canada. He was a multiple-time state champion of sporting clays and was able to strike up a conversation with anyone. Andy worked for the Gibson brothers for six years until he began working for Bergstrom in 1982 as a manager of used car sales. He will always be remembered for his epic mustache and his love of quietly watching sports.
    Andy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary; his children: Kate Collar; Nick Collar; and Jessy (Charlie) Collar-Zander; as well as his mother, Bonnie. He is further survived by his brothers: Bud (Kathy); Joseph (Mary); Charlie (Judy); Dominic (Nancy); and David (Kim); his step-mother, Donna; many nieces and nephews, and his cat, Dr. Jones. He was preceded in death by his father, Ira; his grandparents, Joseph "Zip" & Marie "Nonnie" Schuster; and his brother, Christopher.
    A memorial gathering for Andy will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. Please come and share memories of Andy, but don't wear black! To honor Andy, please wear something camouflage or Packer related.
