    Robert C. Smet, 85, passed away Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born March 24, 1919, to the late Frank and Annabelle (Bacon) Smet in the town of Glenmore. On Feb. 14, 1945, he married Johanna "Jane" Krerowicz in Milwaukee. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 32nd Division and was a Purple Heart recipient. Robert retired in 1981 from the Brown County Hwy. Commission. He remained an active member of the VFW Duck Creek Post #7534 and served a term as the Post Commander and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Robert enjoyed his cottage at Crooked Lake.
    He will be sadly missed by his wife, Jane Smet, Woodside Lutheran Nursing Home; his children and their spouses, Wayne and Cheryl Smet, Coleman; Marlene and Bob Roloff, Greenville, William and Cheryl Smet, Michael and Debbie Smet, all of Green Bay; six grandchildren, Bob (Ellen) Smet, North Carolina; Brennan Smet, Green Bay; Natasha (Chris) Nowak, Oshkosh; Aaron Smet, Eric Smet, Tyler Smet, all of Green Bay; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Smet, Morgan Smet, both of North Carolina; Vincent Nowak, Oshkosh. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Omer and Lorraine Smet, De Pere; Viola and Terrence Farrell, Lakewood; Jerome and Vera Smet, De Pere; Joan Zuehls, De Pere; Kathleen and Richard Vaessen, Pound; Alvin and Betty Smet, Green Bay; one sister-in-law, Christine Cullen, Green Bay; many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Bill Robertson and Merlin Zuehls.
    Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (today). There will be a VFW Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a Parish Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may also call at St. Jude Catholic Church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Thomas Farrell, his nephew, officiating. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

    Viola Farrell, 82, died of brain cancer, Tuesday afternoon, July 18, 2006, in De Pere at the home of her daughter Shirley surrounded by her family. Born in De Pere on January 11, 1924, she is the daughter of the late Frank and Annabel (Bacon) Smet. She married Terence "Terry" Farrell on September 9, 1950, at St. John's Cathedral in Milwaukee. Viola was employed by the Milwaukee Gas Company and was also a switchboard operator for the telephone company. The couple lived in rural Kaukauna, moved to Wrightstown in 1967 and retired in Lakewood in 1984. Terry preceded her in death August 11, 2005.
    Viola was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Parish Altar Society and Catholics United for the Faith. She enjoyed ceramics, traveling, blackberry picking and times spent with her family and friends. Viola had a great love and devotion to her Catholic faith.
    Survived by her four children: Marion (Randy) Servais of New Franken; Rev. Thomas Farrell of St. Pius in Appleton; Shirley Farrell of De Pere; Joan Farrell of De Pere; a grandson, Nathan Malewiski of Oshkosh; three brothers: Omer (Lorraine) Smet of De Pere; Jerome (Vera) Smet of De Pere; Alvin (Elizabeth) Smet of Green Bay; two sisters, Joan Zuehls of De Pere; Kathleen (Richard) Vaessen of Pound; a brother-in-law, John (Germaine) Farrell of Neenah; a sister-in-law, Johanna (Jane) Smet of Green Bay; nieces and nephews.
    Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Terry; a brother, Robert Smet; a sister and two brothers-in-law: Sylvia (William) Robertson and Merlin Zuehls, other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
    Friends may call at MALCORE Funeral Home, 701 North Baird Street, Green Bay, WI, 54302, from 4-8 p.m. Thursday (TODAY) and prior to the funeral on Friday. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friday visitation will continue at the funeral home prior to the funeral in church. Funeral Friday 11 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 710 North Baird Street, Green Bay, WI, 54302 with Monsignor Roy Klister and concelebrated by Rev. Tom Farrell and other priests in attendance. Burial in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.

    Jerome (Jerry) Smet, 88, of De Pere, was welcomed into heaven on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. On February 26, 1926, he was born to Frank and Annabelle (Bacon) Smet in the town of Rockland. Jerry served his country in the US Navy during WWII as a first gunner's mate on an LSM, prior to meeting his wife, Vera Adele Schneider. They were married on August 5, 1950 in De Pere, and together shared 12 wonderful children. Jerry was a brick layer (architectural arranger of structural clay products) for 40 years until his retirement at age 62. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes (only hall of famer in De Pere from the Tuesday night league), fixing lawnmowers, being up north with his family and spending time with his grandkids.
    Survivors include his wife, Vera, children: Kris (Gary) DeGreef, David (special friend Debbie), Darlene (Joe) Meurer, Deb (John) Titulaer, Linda (the late Mike) Fulton, Theresa (Roger) VanNulend, John (special friend Kim), Paul (Yvette), Frank, Marie (Jeff) Sonnabend, Beth (Tom) Criss and Alvin (Sue); 35 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings: Alvin, Joan Zuehls and Kathleen Vaessen; in-laws: Grace (Bob) Roberts and Marv (Sharon) Schneider; as well as numerous other family members.
    In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by siblings: Sylvia, Bob, Omer and Viola; grandsons: Noel and Dean.
    Family and friends may visit at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr., Ledgeview, on Saturday, July 12, from 9:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jerome at 11:00am on Saturday. Interment in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
    The family would like to extend a warm thank you to St. Vincent Hospital, especially the Trauma Team, for their care and support.
