    Obituary:
Alice Mae Klein, loving wife, mother, and grandmother was called to her eternal home on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital just six days shy of her 92nd birthday. Alice had Alzheimer's Disease which she bravely endured for many years until the time of her death. An Appleton resident for nearly her entire life, her last three years were spent with wonderful caregivers and friends at Prairie Home Assisted Living in Menasha. Alice was born October 24, 1924 in Appleton, and was lovingly raised by Ernest and Rose Grunert, who both preceded her in death. In February of 1962, she married John Klein in Appleton, and the couple was blessed with one son, Kevin. As life progressed and her husband passed in 1990, Kevin was a loyal son, caretaker and champion of her every cause. She loved him like none other and lit up whenever he was around. Going to car shows or sharing an ice cream, Alice and Kevin spent countless hours together enjoying each other's company. Being the best wife and mother was Alice's primary mission in life, but she also enjoyed her various jobs and volunteer activities over the years, too. She worked as a clerk at Foremost Dairy in Appleton and later the City of Appleton hired her as a crossing guard for the busy corner of Mason Street and Badger Avenue where she loved helping students safely cross for over fifteen years. She volunteered at St. Joseph's Food Pantry and was proudly awarded her ten year volunteer pin. She also served as a reading volunteer at Houdini School in Appleton. She was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton, and was a faithful volunteer at church in her younger days. Alice treasured being a grandmother to her only grandchild, Kyle. He always made her smile and brought such youthfulness to her life. She wanted nothing but the very best for him, always.
Alice leaves behind her loving son and caregiver: Kevin (Sarah) Klein of Neenah and their son, Kyle. When Kevin and Sarah were married, Sarah's family became Alice's family. This include Sarah's parents: Don and Mary Fulcer of Appleton and Sarah's siblings: Jim (Dawn) Fulcer, Patty (Pat) Hennessey, and John (Joan) Fulcer. Also extending love to Alice were Sarah's nieces and nephews: Kelly (Bill) Davies, Kevin (Kara) Fulcer, Lindsay (Eric) Ropella, Stephanie Fulcer, Brady Fulcer, and Nick Fischer. Alice was preceded in death by her husband John in 1990, as well as his brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Alice will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton, with Deacon CF Dedman officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. Kevin, Sarah, and Kyle would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the incredible staff and caregivers at Prairie Home Assisted Living for giving Alice a home when she could no longer live alone. She truly loved living in the House of Joy and always said how great the meals were and how much she enjoyed participating in so many activities. It was wonderful that you treated Alice like she was your very own mom, and for that we will be forever grateful. When her illness progressed rapidly and she needed to be hospitalized, some special angels from the 3rd Floor of St. Elizabeth Hospital showed us enormous compassion and care. Thank you to all 3rd Floor staff who gave us your expertise and comfort - words cannot express how grateful we are.
Over the years whenever we'd be with Alice as it drew time to leave, she'd grasp our hands in hers and say, "Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do for me." We would like to take everyone's hands in ours and say thank you for all you've done for Alice, as well as for us.

Alice married Klein, John F. Abt Feb 1962. John (son of Klein, Joseph and Feypel, Frances) was born 31 Jul 1922, Kimberly, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA; died 4 Jan 1990; was buried Aft 4 Jan 1990, Holy Name Catholic Cemetery, Kimberly, Wisconsin, USA. [Group Sheet]
