    Obituary:
Ron Ahrens, age 70, of Freedom passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at ThedaClark Hospital as a result of a stroke. He was born June 5, 1943 son of Myrtle Ahrens and the late Edwin Ahrens, Jr.
He was an active member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Center.
Ron served in the US Air Force as a radar technician and worked in the communications industry before retiring from AT&T. Following retirement he also worked with NSP and ATC.
On October 21, 1994he was united in marriage to Christine Francois.
He was a hobbyist with classic cars, hotrods, and model trains. Ron was involved in the Fox Valley Street Rod Association. He was also known to fill up your email box, loved to start a project, play with and build pyrotechnics, and accept the challenge of a complicated puzzle. Ron was full of humor, practicing his skills on his friends, family, and even a store mannequin or two. You would often hear CCR and Duane Eddy playing any time you were around Ron.
Ron took pride in the Cabin (Ron's Six-Pack Shack) and its construction. There are also many memories of the various construction injuries. He leaves behind a legacy of the moments spent with his son Randy "up north".
Every child was dear to Ron. Ron's grandson Lucas, his best buddy, will miss the time he spent with "dad".
Chris recently managed to get Ron to travel, visiting Washington DC, New York, and Savannah, Georgia.
Ron is survived by his wife Chris; son, Randy (Kerry) Ahrens, Menasha; daughters: Rochelle "Shelley" Ahrens, Wauwatosa (the only person that could call him by his real name); Renee Hansen, Menasha; grandchildren: Lucas, Elyse, and Sydney; mother, Myrtle Ahrens, Appleton; sister; Bonnie (David) Bacon, Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Deborah Francois, Green Bay; nephew, Greg (Kendra) Bacon, Parker, CO; niece, Elizabeth (Ryan) Chreist, Boulder, CO. Ron is also survived by other relatives, friends, and granddog, Gomez.
Ron was preceded in death by his father.
