    Ila Mae (Kimball) Schabow, 84, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly from a tragic car accident on Friday, October 27, 2017, along with her daughter, Lynn Eckes.
    Ila Mae was born in Appleton on May 22, 1933. She was the fifth child of seven born to Irwin and Erna (Butter) Kimball. Ila Mae graduated from Appleton High School in 1951. She worked for Riverside Paper Co. for 10 years.
    In 1955, Ila Mae married Armin Schabow. Together they had three children. After the birth of their first child, she became a stay at home mom. Over the years she cared for many other children and continued a close relationship with many of those families. Armin and Ila also opened their home to foster children. Armin passed away from a heart attack on December 23, 1987, at the age of 54.
    Ila Mae was a member of her current high school class planning committee "Club 51" and a frequent user of the Thompson Center where she was an avid card player. Much of Ila Mae's time was also spent with family. Her presence will be missed each day as she was very involved in their lives. Between her children and grandchildren she had plenty of visitors at her home and always looked forward to being involved in their weekend activities. Her grandchildren always felt a special bond with her due to the time she spent taking care of them growing up.
    Ila Mae is survived by her daughter: Diane Jonen, of Kaukauna; her son: Robert (Wanda) Schabow, of Brillion; son-in-law: Ken Eckes, of Appleton; grandchildren: Kristen (Kasmier Rutherford) Eckes, Sarah (Arthur) Smith, Nicholas (Danielle) Eckes, Philip (Tagen Forster) Eckes, Samantha (Paul) Court, and Brandon Jonen; and four wonderful great grandchildren: Zachary Smith, Arthur Smith Jr, Brady Eckes, and Joanna Court. She is further survived by sisters: Gloria (Joe) Gibson, of Florida; Nancy McKay, of California; Peggy (Bob) Van Stippen, of Appleton; and one brother: Earl Kimball, of North Carolina; one sister-in-law: Lois Kimball, of Appleton; Armin's sisters: Helen Brahm and Marion Merkl; sister-in-law: Jean Karweick; and brother-in-law: George Franzke; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her husband and parents, Ila Mae was further preceded in death by her daughter: Lynn Eckes; son-in-law: Mark Jonen; sister: Joyce Mueller; brother: Jim Kimball; brothers-in-law: Tom McKay, Eugene Brahm, Donald Mueller; and sisters-in-law: Dorene Kimball and Alice Kimball; nephew: David Kimball, and nieces: Debra Gamby, Judy Anderson, and Becky Stover.
    Funeral services for Ila will be held at 12:00 Noon, on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at CHRIST THE ROCK COMMUNITY CHURCH, W6254 HIGHWAY 10-114, MENASHA, WI. Visitation will be on Thursday at the Church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
    The family of Ila Mae would like to extend a thank you to all family and friends who have been generous with prayers, condolences, and support throughout this difficult time. We as a family are comforted in knowing she is in the presence of Jesus now.

    Lynn (Schabow) Eckes, 56, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly from a tragic car accident on Friday, October 27, 2017, along with her mother Ila Mae Schabow.
    Lynn was born in Appleton on August 28, 1961. She was the oldest of three children born to the late Armin and Ila (Kimball) Schabow. Lynn graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1979 and started working at AAL/Thrivent when she was 18 years old. She has worked for AAL/Thrivent for the past 38 years and was still employed there at the time of her death.
    In 1984, Lynn married Kenneth Eckes and together they have four children. Lynn was a devoted wife and mother and would do anything for her family. She was very family oriented and knew the importance of spending her free time with as many of her family members as possible. Her children and grandchildren were her entire world and they will always remember her for her unconditional love and dedication to their family. She will also be greatly missed by her dog, Sadie, whom Lynn loved deeply. Lynn will also be remembered for her hard work, her extremely giving nature, love of volunteering, and the time she spent dedicated to the Church.
    Lynn is survived by her husband: Kenneth, of Appleton; her two daughters: Kristen (Kasmier Rutherford) Eckes, Neenah; and Sarah (Arthur) Smith, of Phoenix, AZ; two sons: Nicholas (Danielle) Eckes, of Combined Locks; and Philip (Tagen Forster) Eckes, of Appleton; grandchildren: Zachary Smith, Arthur Smith Jr., and Brady Eckes; a sister: Diane Jonen, of Kaukauna; a brother: Bob (Wanda) Schabow, of Brillion; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
    In addition to Lynn's parents, she was further preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Mark Jonen; and her dog, Nina, who Lynn absolutely adored.
    Funeral services for Lynn will be held at 12:00 Noon, on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at CHRIST THE ROCK COMMUNITY CHURCH, W6254 HIGHWAY 10-114, MENASHA,WI. Visitation will be on Thursday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
