    Mrs. John D. Schmerein, ("Tot" aka "Martot"), a lifelong resident of Neenah died at her home on January 8, 2015. Tot was born in Neenah on January 28, 1918 to George and Margaret (Sensenbrenner) Gilbert. She married John D. Schmerein on August 14, 1940, enjoying 66 years of marriage when he passed April 7, 2007.

    John and Tot were both graduates of Lawrence University, Appleton, WI. Tot was an avid golfer and bridge player, belonging to North Shore Golf Club, Ridgeway Golf Club and Innisbrook in Tarpon Springs, FL.

    Tot is survived by her children: John G. (Susan) Schmerein, Dallas, TX and Mame (Daniel) Heaney, Neenah; grandchildren: John Charles Schmerein, Kristina (Michael) Kinzley, all of Dallas, TX, and Patrick (Kate) Heaney, Middleton, WI; and great-grandchildren: Lachlan and Iona Heaney.
    A Funeral of Christian Celebration will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 320 Nicolet Blvd., Menasha. The Rev. Jim Hablewitz and Mary Krueger, Pastoral Leader will officiate. Family and friends may visit at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Margaret's Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Valley VNA, St. Patrick's Church or the Neenah/Menasha YMCA would be appreciated. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful caregivers from the Valley VNA who have become "family".

    Francis J. Gilbert, second class petty officer, is back in the states after a year in the South Pacific during which time he participated in 10 major battles while aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S Yorktown. He was returning to the United States on the S.S. Henry Bergh when it ran aground in a fog on rocky reefs and sank. He drifted on a raft with two other men for two hours before being rescued by a subchaser. He lost all of personal effects when the ship went down. Francis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Gilbert town of Kaukauna.

    Gilbert, Mr. Marlyn "Marlie" Green Bay Age 76, passed away Thursday Dec. 18, 2003 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Marlie, son of William and Petronella Gilbert was born in l927 in Kaukauna, WI. He attended a rural one room schoolhouse where he liked to say he was the smartest kid in his class being the only one for 8 years! He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1945. He was inducted into the Army and served in Korea from 1946-1947. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and graduated in 1953. He taught History and coached football and track in Marion, WI from 1953-1959. He received his Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin in l960. He came to Green Bay as a Guidance Counselor in l959 and worked at Franklin Jr. High, East and Southwest High Schools until his retirement in 1988.
    On June 20, 1953, he married his college sweetheart, Joan Jersey at St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville, WI. They had been married for 50 years and had four children.
    Marlie enjoyed woodworking and building. His favorite place on earth was the cottage he built in Three Lakes. Golfing, camping and dancing the polka were favorite pastimes. He love to travel and he especially loved "bus trips".
    Marlie loved his kids and was so proud of their accomplishments. The little lessons he taught will always be remembered by them. He was always there for his family. We will cherish the long-ago summers at the cottage and his "20 year plan" will always be a source of happiness for us.
    Marlyn is survived by his loving wife, Joan; 2 sons, David (Suzanne) Gilbert, Minneapolis, MN; Daniel (Cindy) Gilbert, San Diego, CA; 2 daughters, Barbara (Ed) Koslowski, Green Bay and Patricia (Ken) Karnopp, Green Bay; 4 grandchildren, Sarah Gilbert, Katie and Jenna Koslowski and Matt Gilbert. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Marion (Norm) Conard, Joan Lauer and one brother, Joe (Maxine) Gilbert.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
    Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. There will be a Parish Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Friends may also call at St. Jude Catholic Church, Green Bay from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at l0:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Msgr. Mark Schommer officiating. Entombment will be in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
    The Gilbert family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Highland Health Care for their care of Marlie over the last 5 and a half years. Special thanks to a wonderful friend, Paul, who was there every step of the way for Marlie and Jo.

    Earl "Butch" Brittnacher, 83, Greenleaf, died Wednesday evening, November 16, 2005, at a local nursing home. The son of the late John and Myrtle (Gilbert) Brittnacher was born November 20, 1921, in Greenleaf. On September 13, 1947, he married the former Helen Kaiver at St. Mary's Church, Glenmore. Butch had farmed in Greenleaf and was a seed salesman for many years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
    Survivors include his wife, Helen; children, Robert and Shirley Brittnacher, Greenleaf, Debra and James Fritsch, De Pere, John and Char Brittnacher, Greenleaf and Michael and Laurie Brittnacher, Ft.     Clayton G. Weyers, 83, Kaukauna, passed away unexpectedly in Kaukauna on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009. He was born on Sept. 11, 1926, the son of the late Lawrence and Adela (Gilbert) Weyers and lived his whole life in Kaukuana. On June 25, 1949, he married his beloved wife of 60 years, Phyllis Wirth.
    He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a photographer for Naval Intelligence. Clayton owned and operated Weyers Equipment with his two brothers. He was an avid bowler and card player. Clayton will be remembered for his love of family, strong work ethic and his hardy laugh.
    Clayton is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, Vicki (Nicholas) Schanen, Grafton; Gary (Lori) Weyers, Kaukauna; Debra (Steven Neuser) Weyers-Neuser, Green Bay; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Weyers, Appleton; grandchildren, Rebecca Kohls, Jennifer (Zachary) Marsh, Andrew Kohls, Ryan (Angi) Weyers, Timothy Weyers, Joshua (special friend, Melissa) Neuser, Jason (fiancee, Keri) Neuser, James Neuser, Michael Weyers and Tammy Weyers; step-grandchildren, Scott, Heidi and Kelley Schanen; great-grandchildren, Sage, Trey, Toni, Kaya, Connor, Libby, Anthony and Hannah; brothers, Clifford and Robert (Alice) Weyers; sister, Darlene Zinnen; brother-in-law, Jack (Jeanne) Wirth; and many nieces and nephews.

    The funeral liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna. The friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial and military honors will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Clayton's name is being established.

    Clifford Weyers, age 82, passed away peacefully at St. Paul Home on Thursday, March 10, 2011. Clifford was born in Kaukauna on October 14, 1928, son of the late Lawrence and Adell (Gilbert) Weyers. He attended schools in Kaukauna, and on June 1, 1950 married the former Mary Lou DeBruin. Mary Lou preceded him in death in December of 1989. Later, on July 3, 1995, Cliff married LaVerne Schumann; she preceded him in death in June of 2004.
    Cliff will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend. He lived life to its fullest and enjoyed many activities throughout his life such as bowling, fishing, deer hunting, golf, square dancing, playing cribbage and sheepshead, reading, working with the Boy Scouts, visiting Las Vegas, and traveling to warmer climates when the weather turned cold. He was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, and along with his brothers, operated Weyers Equipment for many years.
    Clifford was survived by eight children, sixteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

He married Joy Vander Zanden on January 15, 1977, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Combined Locks. Tom farmed all his life on the family farm, and it was the love of his life. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He always made time for his friends, enjoying the many conversations and visits by all. Survivors include his loving wife, Joy; mother, Teresa; six children, Lance (Charlie Whitaker), Annette (Dennis Eiting), Christy (Gary Leick), Tom II, Ted, and Lynn; four granddaughters, Alyssa and Emily Eiting and Madison and Isabel Leick; four brothers and one sister, Steve (Diane), David (Gloria), Russ (Donna), Bill (Kris), and Jane (Joe Feldkamp); mother-in-law, Rose Vander Zanden; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Klister and Evelyn (Joe Kersten); many nieces and nephews; Godchildren, Matt Brittnacher, Heath Kersten, and Mike Brittnacher; and a very special family friend, Curtis Gerow. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Brittnacher; and a brother-in-law, Marlyn Klister. Family and friends may call Tuesday, April 3, 2007, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at church, with Msgr. John Schuh officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Tom's name. Proceeds will benefit Syble Hopp School. DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, Wrightstown, is assisting the family.
