    A. Gilbert Myse, 69, Was Lifelong Resident of Appleton
    A. Gilbert Myse, 69, 217 N. Bennett street, a lifelong resident of Appleton, died at 10:45 Tuesday evening at his home after a long illness. He was born in Appleton May 10, 1870. and owned and operated the Myse tavern at 123 W. College avenue- about 39 years, retiring 10 years ago. He was a member of the local aerie of Eagles. Survivors are the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Roger Harrmann, Appleton; three sons. Gilbert. Jr, Arnold M. Myse and Gordon Kitzmiller. Appleton: a brother. Roy, San Pedro. Calif.: three sisters, Mrs. A. Gmeiner. Milwaukee; Mrs. George Hogriever, Mrs. Ed Kline, Appleton. and five grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at Brettschneider Funeral home by the Rev. G. H. Blum. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery. Eagles will conduct services at the grave. The body will be at the funeral home from Thursday noon until time of services.

She was born in Kaukauna December 11th 1883 and was a memb er of the Christian Mothers of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna and t he W.C.O. F. of Kaukauna. Mrs. Romenesko is survived by four daughters, M rs. Robert (Martha) Jacobs, Mrs. B. F.     Schmalz, Orris W. “Orry”Orris Walter Schmalz moved on to his eternal rest on December 16, 2004, af ter spending recent months under the loving care of the staffs at Saint Pa ul Villa and Cherry Meadows. Born July 19, 1913, he was the younge st of 13 children born to Theodore and Martha Schmalz. On August 2, 193 7, he and Bernice De Bruin married at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chu te.He earned his Eagle Scout Award in February 1931 as the third Eagle Sco ut in the state of Wisconsin and the first outside of Milwaukee. He was ho nored for his over twenty-five years of service to Scouting.He continued his service to others with his over 40 years of involvement w ith Lions Club International. He earned several awards with Lions includi ng the Melvin Jones and Birch Strum Fellowships. He was very proud to ha ve served as President of the Kaukauna Lions. He was a long time memb er of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.He was employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper for 46 years, retiring in 197 3. He loved the outdoors and a cottage at Pickerel Lake in northern Wiscon sin. All were important to him, but family was most important. He serv ed us well and leaves us with a legacy of service.He is survived by three children and their spouses: Lynn and Keith Verhage n, Combined Locks; James and Barbara Schmalz, Loves Park, IL; Jill and Dav id Brunette, Appleton; a daughter-in-law, Linda Schmalz, Cedarburg; 12 gra ndchildren: Virginia (Brian) Nitz, Jeffrey Shmalz, Rebecca Schmalz, Amy (J erry) Weyenberg, Valerie (Cole) Ziegelbauer, Todd (Amy Sue) Verhagen, Jam ie Prouse (Donna), Jennifer Prouse (J.     Bodmer, Jose ph J.Joseph J. Bodmer, Appleton, age 92, passed away on Thursday, February 2 3, 2006, at Colony Oaks Care Center. He was born in Appleton on Decemb er 2, 1913, to the late Henry and Mathilda (Birling) Bodmer, and he was t he last survivor of their family of 11. On February 6, 1940, he married Do rothy Nieuwenhuis at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton and they shar ed 66 wonderful years together. Joe was a graduate of Old Appleton West Hi gh School. He worked for Schaefer Dairy for 25 years before taking the man agement position at the Forester Club for 17 years.He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Knights of Columbu s, a Pioneer of the Grand Chute Lions, and a charter member of St. Thom as More Parish.     Monroe Albert Romenesko, Kaukauna, age 90, died at home surrounded by his wife and loving family on Sunday, November 23, 2008. Monroe was born January 5, 1918, to the late Walter and Eva (Schmalz) Romenesko. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving 4 years, 4 months, and 4 days in the Pacific Theater. On February 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lenora V. Hafner in Appleton and together they celebrated nearly 62 years of marriage. Monroe was employed for 34 years at Kaukauna Electric and Water Department until his retirement, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker for 63 years. He was an active member and past Chaplain of the Kaukauna VFW Post #3319, and a proud member of and Scout Leader for over 50 years in the city of Kaukauna. Monroe enjoyed playing cribbage; he and his good friend Ed Kaphingst won city cribbage championships.
    He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lenora; his eight children: Linda Veldman, Milwaukee, Daniel (Marilyn), Wilmington, Delaware, Denise Romenesko, Milwaukee, Melita (Lowell) Prickett, Kaukauna, Eileen (Dennis) Valukas, Racine, Mary Van Rooy, Ashwaubenon, Walter (Cindy), Neenah, and Nora (Bryan) Snyder, Green Bay; 13 grandchildren: Cathy (Ken) Oppermann, Denise Veldman, Andres (Bobbi Jo) Veldman, Ruth (Jeremy) Peterson, Melissa (Craig) Kehoe, Brian Prickett, Molly Prickett, John (Krisi) Valukas, Emily Valukas, Ethan Van Rooy, Ian, Laura, and Sarah Snyder; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Martha Jacobs, Germaine St. Arnold, Marie (Richard) Powers, and Francis Hutton; two sisters-in-law: Mildred Romenesko and Mildred Romenesko.     Mark W. Romenesko "Sparky", 9 18 Roosevelt St. Kaukauna, age 70, died Saturday, December 7, 1991 at S t. Elizabeth Hospital following a short illness. He was born January 16, 1 921, in Kaukauna, the son of the late Walter and Eva (Schmalz) Romenesk o. Sparky served with the U.S. Army during World War II the C.B.I. (Chin a, Burma, India) Campaign. He married Mildred Wilda, on Nov. 20, 191 4, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Menasha. He had been employed Wisco nsin Michigan Power Company and Kaukauna Electric & Water, retiring in 198 0. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church and served as an ushe r.     Martha M. Jacobs, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Appleton Retirement Community. She was born on June 11, 1922, the seventh child of the late Walter H. and Eva (Schmalz) Romenesko of Kaukauna. Martha lived in Kaukauna until she was united in marriage to Robert P. Jacobs, the love of her life, on August 7, 1954. They started their married life together, first in Kaukauna, later moving to Appleton. Together they raised three children, Mary (John) Geiger, Sun Prairie, WI; Rick Jacobs, Minneapolis, MN; and Mark Jacobs (Andrea Rugg), Minneapolis, MN. Martha is further survived by her beloved grandson, Lucas Geiger; her sisters, Germaine St. Arnold, Marie (Richard) Powers and Frances Hutton; her sister-in-law, Delores (Lyle) Becker; nieces, nephews and friends - especially Barb Rogers. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert; her infant daughter, Mary Jacobs; her infant brother, Michael, and her brothers Lloyd "Squeeze," Leon "Butch," Monroe "Fat," Orrin and Mark "Spark" Romenesko. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating.     Germaine (Romenesko-Schmalz) St. Arnold, Kaukauna, age 89, passed away peacefully at St. Paul Elder Services, Kaukauna, on November 4, 2013. She was born on March 29, 1924 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Walter H. and Eva (Schmalz) Romenesko and later adopted by Arthur and Susan Schmalz.
    Gerry graduated from Holy Cross Grade School and Kaukauna High School, and then attended Milwaukee Downer College. She also attended Fox Valley Technical College and proceeded to become a ward clerk at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
    She married the love of her life, Edward St. Arnold, in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1970. She went on to marry Kenneth Reinholz in 1983.
    Gerry was known in her earlier years for her volunteer work with the Kaukauna Schools and the Girl Scouts. She loved going dancing with her husband and spending time with those around her. Gerry was the co-founder of the Fox Valley Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. She also enjoyed spending time at her cabin up north, gardening, and baking. Gerry especially loved spending time with her family by taking them out for a family meal.
    She is survived by two daughters: Nancy (Les) Ruen and Jean St. Arnold; a son-in-law, Vern (Joyce) Josie. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Shelley (Mark) Zierler, Scott Ruen, Patty (Matt) Fuerst, Ryan (Jean) Josie, Angela (Mark) Lederer, Corey Josie, Erin (Josh) Youngblood, and Mason Josie. She was an extra special Nana to Monica (special friend Jeremy), Courtney, Jacob, Damon, Christian, Ashlyn, Wyatt, Paige, Clare and Reece. She is also survived by two sisters: Marie (Dick) Powers and Francis Hutton; two sisters-in-law: Lorraine Heintz and Lou St. Arnold; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Josie; five brothers: Lloyd "Squeeze" (Mildred), Leon "Butch" (Margaret), Orrin (Mildred), Monroe "Fat" (Lenore), and Mark "Spark" (Mildred); her sister, Martha (Robert) Jacobs; and brother-in-law, Bernie Hutton.

    Appleton - Marie Powers passed away on March 28, 2018 She was born on July 7, 1925 In Kaukauna, Wisconsin. The daughter of Walter and Eva Romnesko, she was the second youngest of 10 children - she had 6 brothers and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Michael, Leon, Lloyd, Mark, Orrin and Monroe Romenesko and her sisters Martha Jacobs and Germaine Reinholz.
    Marie married her high school sweetheart on September 7, 1946. Throughout the 71+ years of their marriage she enjoyed cheering for the Green Bay Packers, attending her grandchildren's athletic events in high school and college and traveling with her husband Dick both nationally and internationally. In addition to living most of her life in the Fox Valley, she and Dick also lived in Dayton Ohio, Dallas, Texas, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
    Marie is survived by her husband Richard (Dick) Powers, her daughter Kathleen Oliaro and her husband Paul, two grandchildren - Scott Oliaro and his wife Jeri and Amy Gautreau and her husband Matt - and four great-grandchildren Caitlin and Jackson Gautreau and Mia and Tyler Oliaro. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Hutton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
    The funeral liturgy will be held at St. Mary Church, 312 S State St. in Appleton Wisconsin on Wednesday, April 4th at 10:30am. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.     Rita Braeger , age 93, of Appleton, passed away March 25, 2008, at Cherry Meadows. She was born in Kaukauna on November 23, 1914, the daughter of Irene and William Robach Sr. Rita was united in marriage to Elmer Braeger on November 1, 1939, sharing 50 years together before his death in 1989. She was a loving and devoted wife. Rita was a member of St. Pius X Church and was a volunteer at the Thompson Community Center. She liked being busy and working in her yard. Rita enjoyed attending family events/activities and was often referred to as the life of the party. She had many good friends and neighbors.
    Rita is survived by a brother, William Robach Jr., and William's family: Scott (Louise) Robach, Sue (Kurt) Kress, Joan (Jim) Behle, Jane Van Rossum (fiance John Arnoldussen); brother Robert Robach's children: Richard (Theresa) Robach and Rollie Robach and Elmer's niece Kay Zeinert. Further survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews (and their children) and cousins.
    In addition to her parents and dear husband, Rita was preceded in death by her brother Robert (Luella) Robach, sister-in-law Pat Robach, sister-in-law Margurite (Robert) Zeinert, brother-in-law Karl (Vi) Braeger, nephew Robert Robach Jr., and many cousins.
    Rita would like to thank Nancy Peterson for being such a good friend and keeping her active.
    The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, on Thursday, March 27, at 4 p.m. with Fr. Quinn Mann officiating. Visitation directly at the church from 2 p.m. Thursday, until time of service. Burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Thompson Community Center.

    Sandra L. Hambek, age 74 of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2016 in California surrounded by family. Sandy was born in Kaukauna on August 27, 1941. Sandra was an avid knitter and loved to sew. She also enjoyed traveling. Sandra married James Hambek in 1999. Jim and Sandy were blessed to be able to travel and see most of the country together over the last 17 years. They had many great adventures. She enjoyed coming back to Wisconsin to be with her grandchildren and many friends. Cheyenne and Sandy always had the nicest nails in town when she came home. She was a woman of kindness who always put others needs before her own. She spent a lot of time caring for sick people and always made sure that newborn children had a knitted baby blanket.
    She is survived by her sons: Brian (Diane) Fleming of Appleton, and Keith Fleming of Wrightstown. She is survived by her grandchildren: Zackery Fleming of Florida, Damon Fleming of Appleton, Morgin Hyler of Kaukauna, Tyler Fleming of Wrightstown, and Cheyenne Fleming of Kaukauna, and her great-grandchild Catalia Solman of Crandon. She is further survived by three step-daughters Carrie (Bret) Green of California, June Lingdgist of California, Janette Barabara of Florida, and their children.

    She is preceded in death by her husband, James Hambek, her parents, Loyal and Elsie Schmaltz, her brother, Ted, and many good friends.
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna at 11 A.M with Father Tom Pomeroy officiating. A time of visitation will take place at 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. on Monday, April 18, 2016 at FARGO FUNERAL HOME, 400 W.     Duane is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia; brother: Tom (Pamela) Gast; and brother and sisters-in-law: Dick (Leona) Brandt and Mary Rohan. He is further survived by nieces and nephews.

    Richard "Whitey" Nettekoven, age 76, of Kaukauna, is no longer suffering and now at peace in Heaven with his sons. Richard passed at The Atrium of Little Chute. For the past few months he had been receiving care at both The Atrium and ThedaCare Regional Medical Center of Appleton.
    He was born on July 31, 1940 in Appleton. The son of Victor and Ruth (Schmalz) Nettekoven. Richard lived in Kaukauna all his life. Richard graduated from St. Mary's in 1954 and Kaukauna High School in 1958.
    On July 30, 1959 Richard married Donna Wiedenhaupt, together they were blessed with two sons in 1963 and 1964. Richard started work at Thilmany Pulp & Paper August 1, 1958. He worked his entire career on paper machinery. After forty-three years he retired as Machine Tender on Machine Number Twelve.
    His hobbies were fishing, golfing, boating, and playing cards with his friends in Dundas. After his retirement Richard enjoyed being outdoors and watching birds in his yard. He especially enjoyed watching the Packers and Badgers and never missed a good Western movie. Together Richard and Donna played their weekly card game and visited the casino. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club.
    Richard is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years in marriage, Donna - his reason for living; his brother, Paul (Margaret) Nettekoven, Tom (Mary Ann) Nettekoven and Dan Nettekoven; his sister, Mary Lou (Dale) Busse and his sister-in-law, Karen (Tom) Van Deraa. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sons, William and James Nettekoven; his in-laws, Irvin and Mildred Wiedenhapt; grandparents, Ray and Ethel Schmalz, Selma Nettekovan and two infant brother, Gerald and David.
    The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday starting at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at Union Cemetery in Kaukauna. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Richard's name. Online condolences can be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
    The family would like to thank the staff at both The Atrium of Little Chute and ThedaCare Regional Medical Center of Appleton for the wonderful care given to Richard and his family. His family would also like to thank, Mike Van Deraa "their maintence man", for taking such good care of both Richard and Donna.

    Roland "Rollie" J. Robach, age 60, of Kaukauna, passed away at home on Sunday, February 15, 2009. He was born July 26, 1948, in Kaukauna, the son of Robert and Luella (Casey) Robach Sr. and was a graduate of Kaukauna High School. Rollie served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was awarded the purple heart for his service. He was a member of Kaukauna Electric City VFW Post #3319. Rollie worked for Appleton Paper for 21 years, retiring in 2006 as a result of a work injury. Prior to his injury, he was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, duck hunting and bowling.
    Roland is survived by his brother: Richard "Dick" (Theresa) Robach of Kaukauna; and very close friends: Mickey Thompson and Diane Smith. He is further survived by his uncle: William Robach, nephews, cousins and many friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Robert "Bubba" Robach Jr.
    A funeral service for Roland will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, at FARGO FUNERAL HOME, 400 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Kaukauna. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna.
    The family wishes to thank ThedaCare Hospice at Home for their tender loving care.
