Obituary:
Walter J. Van Mun, 83, passed away at Manor Care on Friday, December 10, 2010. Wally was born on June 27, 1927, in Kimberly, to the late John and Antoinette Van Mun. He married Ursula Nabbefeld and she preceded him in death in 1997.
Wally was very civic-minded and active in his family, church and community. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II, was an active parishioner at St. Pius Catholic Church and served on many committees, was a Boy Scout Leader, and was a member of Don Bosko organization.
Wally was employed as a Warehouse Manager for VI Pipe and also worked as a groundskeeper for his dear friend, Don Wynboom, where he was considered a part of the family. He was loved by all who knew him for his generous ways and his upbeat positive attitude. He never had a harsh word for anyone. He will be missed by all, but especially by his children, Steve and Pete.
Survivors include his sons, Stephen (Carol) Van Mun and Peter (Patti) Van Mun; his grandchildren, Tom (Summer) Van Mun, Greg Van Mun, Alan (Rachel) Van Mun; and his two great-grandsons, Tanner and Darian; and a great-granddaughter, Autumn. He is further survived by his sister, Marie (Jerome) Brockman; his brothers, John (Joanne) Van Mun, Mike (Joanie) Van Mun, Jim (Joan) Van Mun; many nieces and nephews; and his dear friends, Don and Ann Wynboom.
He was preceded in death by his special friend and companion, Lucille "Bunny" Track.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME-TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, with Pastor Paul Franzmeier officiating. Friends may call directly at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Manor Care for their loving and professional care of our father.
