Lyle was born at his childhood home in Neenah on May 5, 1929, son of Zeno and Rosalie (Reininger) Nennig.
At the age of 16, Lyle left school to run the family farm. He also started working at Neenah Paper, and was drafted into the United States Army serving 1954-1956. He was in active reserves until 1961, then honorably discharged. Upon returning from the service in 1956, he continued working at Neenah Paper. Lyle engaged in farming purchasing his first farm in Greenville in 1956. In December of 1956, he met JoAnn Jarchow after a short courtship; they later married on September 28, 1957.
Together they farmed in Greenville, later selling the farm, and purchasing a farm in Hortonville. Lyle continued farming until he retired in 1988, selling the farm to his son. The tradition is still carried on today, owned and operated by his son and grandsons.
In his early retirement years Lyle enjoyed gardening, driving tractor when he could, and babysitting his grand children. In his later retirement years he enjoyed taking bus trips to the casino, going to Polka functions, spending time with grand children and great grand children.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of 54 years, and five children: William Nennig (special friend Victoria), Marilyn Nennig (special friend Deb), Joseph (Tammy) Nennig Sr., Donald (Christine) Nennig, and Thomas (Linda) Nennig.
Grandchildren: Shane Pasquini, Joseph (Brett) Nennig Jr., Andrew (Amanda) Nennig Sr., Amanda (Jesse) Young, LacyeJo (Adam) Althaus, Kyle Nennig, Keith Nennig, Kevin Nennig, Angela Piechocki, Cody Piechocki, Ashley (Robert) Moore, Heidi (Brian) Murphy and Jeremy Nennig (special friend Liz).
Great Grandchildren: Joseph III and Jenna Nennig, Lyla and Andrew Jr. Nennig, his pumpkin Karlee Nennig, Kirrah Althaus, Daniel and Aaron Young, Corbin and Audi Moore. Sadly, Lyle will miss the arrival of his eleventh great grandchild, a baby girl due in November to the Murphy's.
He is further survived by his siblings, Allen Nennig, Jacob (Judy) Nennig, Eileen (Arden) Tews, god child Cindy (Bret) Mack.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Zeno and Rosalie Nennig and brother, Jerome Nennig.
He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Parish in Hortonville, later joining St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Greenville.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, N2385 Municipal Dr., Greenville, with Father Daniel Felton officiating. Family and friends may call directly at church Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again directly at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
